The capital of the Cotswolds apparently. Cirencester, the town of Roman heritage and a massive Abbey as well...
We have come here today as we have done the village circuit and feel as though we couldn't leave without stopping off here. Cirencester is a larger town (not a city) in the Cotswolds and it is pretty much as you would expect. Similar architecture and layout as the others but slightly bigger. A large market sort of area in the middle as standard but also is had the finest greengrocers I have ever seen in my life. I wish we had something like that at home not just stupid supermarkets.
We had a look in the Abbey which was pretty impressive, not sure what difference is between an Abbey and a Cathedral? but it was very impressive. We also popped into the town museum of archaeology, not architecture Becky.
We also decided to end our trip here, we didn't really see the benefit of staying an extra night plus it would be ideal to have to whole of tomorrow to sort out the van and get everything cleaned etc. So yes, hope you enjoyed our trip and make sure you join us on the next one!

See all the major streets including the Market Place, Dyer Street, Cricklade Street, Castle Street, Park Street, Cecily Hill and Sheep Street.
Possibly the last video to feature the Market Place before major renovation work to pedestrianise and alter the flow of traffic.
At 16:48 you can see building work to the left hand side of the video, this is a new St. James's Place office on the site of Bridges Garage which closed some years ago.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE COTSWOLDS ENGLAND July, 2018. Cirencester in Roman Times was second in size to London. Today magnificent old buildings and Roman structures are to be admired. A visit to the Abbey Grounds park is recommended.

Lack of parking in Cirencester centre. This car park is the Forum Car Park. Just one car park space became clear whilst driving around (one person will get lucky today!). It can be clearly seen why businesses are suffering as people do not want to bother driving in to Cirencester knowing they cannot park there.
Cirencester does not have the parking facilities for it's current residents. Just one of the reasons Cotswold District Council must not go ahead with building another 2,350 new homes on the Chesterton side of the town... Cirencester cannot sustain new home builds of this MEGA quantity.
