The Cisco Kid - Ghost Town - Classical American TV Shows
Classical American TV Shows
The Cisco Kid The Caballero's Way (short story)
In O. Henry's original story, the character is a 25-year-old desperado in the Texas-Mexico border country who bears little resemblance to later interpretations of the character. He kills for sport and is responsible for at least eighteen deaths. His real name is possibly Goodall (This hombre they call the Kid—Goodall is his name, ain't it?); no first name is given in the story. The Kid's mixed-ancestry girlfriend, Tonia Perez, both fears and loves him. When Texas Ranger Lieutenant Sandridge arrives at her home, seeking news of the Cisco Kid, they fall in love. Sandridge begins visiting twice a week. Eventually the Kid visits Tonia's house and finds them together:
Ten yards from his hiding-place, in the shade of the jacal, sat his Tonia calmly plaiting a rawhide lariat. So far she might surely escape condemnation; women have been known, from time to time, to engage in more mischievous occupations. But if all must be told, there is to be added that her head reposed against the broad and comfortable chest of a tall red-and-yellow man, and that his arm was about her, guiding her nimble small fingers that required so many lessons at the intricate six-strand plait.
He overhears Tonia tell Sandridge that she heard the Kid was in the area, and that she assumes the Kid will visit her soon. She says she will send Sandridge word of the Kid's whereabouts by Gregorio, the small son of old Luisa, in time for Sandridge to ride off with a posse, find the Kid and kill him. Sandridge departs and shortly the Kid appears, pretending he has just arrived. The Kid sends a message to Sandridge through Domingo Sales, who claims that Gregorio is too ill of a fever to ride. The message says that the Kid has arrived and explains that the Kid has exchanged clothes with Tonia to foil pursuers. Sandridge returns to Tonia's home and sees two figures in the moonlight: one in men's clothing and the other in women's. The one in men's clothing rides away. Assuming this to be Tonia, Sandridge ambushes and shoots the remaining figure. The victim is Tonia, the Kid having tricked Sandridge into killing his girlfriend.

Want to Buy a Ghost Town in Utah?
Utah Ghost Town Up for Sale - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.
Have you ever dreamed of owning your own town? No bothersome neighbors, no traffic police to issue speeding tickets; it's a cool setup for those who appreciate solitude. Well a Utah ghost town is now on the market for $3.9 million. The town consists of 700 acres on both sides of Route 6 in Emery County and features a few resident llamas, a service station and some run-down buildings. Realtor Mike Metzger is handling the sale of the abandoned town named Woodside. It was founded in 1881 as a water stop for the local railroads, and grew to about 300 residents by the 1920's. However the railway patterns changed and residents left, leaving Woodside completely abandoned by 1970.
In another odd real estate venture, a North Carolina village that appeared in the movie 'The Hunger Games' is up for grabs. According to ABC News, Henry River Mill Village is on sale for $1.4 million after being used as the set of the downtrodden community of District 12 in the film, Wade Shepard is selling the 72-acre property, which has over 20 buildings.

The Bankhead Highway
The Bankhead Highway was a United States cross-country automobile highway connecting Washington, D.C. and San Diego. It was part of the National Auto Trail system. The road was named for Alabama politician John Hollis Bankhead, a leader in the early national road building movement. This road has the distinction of being the first all-paved road to stretch across the United States.
In his series of historical documentaries called, History in Plain Sight, Jay Moore tells about the creation of the Bankhead Highway, what it meant to the people of West Texas, particularly Abilene and Baird, Texas, and what happened to the highway that once stretched across the southern part of the United States. Parts of this road can still be found in and around Abilene, Texas.
The entire story on the Bankhead Highway will begin airing on the local access channel, Channel 7, for the Abilene, Texas viewing area on July 14th at 7PM CST.

Space Monkey Ride 2009
My friend Alex and I went on a 3 day, 788.5 mile motorcycle ride April 17, 18 and 19th. The 17th we headed south from Albuquerque to Socorro then east through the Valley of Fire, Carrizozo and to Alamogordo for the night. The next day we visited The Museum of Space History and the grave of Ham the Astrochimp, White Sands National Monument, City of Rocks State Park and on into Glenwood in the Gila wilderness for the night. My friend Jeff and his pup Little Man joined us for the remainder of our journey to hike the Catwalk and a ride up a hellish road to the ghost town Mogollon. We then headed back towards Albuquerque while making many stops along the way including the VLA (Very large Array) which is an array of radio telescopes that span 13 miles in the shape of a Y. Here they listen to the sounds of space. It was an incredible trip.

Logan summer invasion begins as summer citizens seek to beat heat
(KUTV) Every summer they come by the hundreds across the country to the small northern Utah town of Logan, bringing millions of dollars in revenue and turning the town into a mini-New York City, Broadway-style event.
They are senior citizens who come from Arizona, California, Texas and Nevada - escaping the intense heat for Logan's mild temperatures.
Logan is not just an escape for the snowbirds; it's also an opportunity to participate in Utah State University's Summer Citizens Program, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Ten Interesting Utah Ghost Towns
EDIT: I am fully aware that I misspoke and gave the year 1945 instead of 1941 when describing the attack on Pearl Harbor. I apologize for this error. Please don't focus on this one mistake and instead enjoy the video.
Utah has a diverse and rich history, most of which has been forgotten by most people. This short documentary lists ten of Utah's ghost towns that have unique and sometimes dark stories to tell.
