Høje Taastrup station is a railway station in Høje-Taastrup municipality, Denmark, opened on 31 May 1986.
The station is one of the largest in Denmark. It is the terminus of S-train services B including a few, weekday mornings extra departures, labeled as B+ but which really isn't a real line, on the Taastrup radial. The station is further served by regional, InterCity and even international trains.
At the south end of the railroad station complex stands Thor's Tower (Torstårnet), the tallest sculpture in the Nordic countries. The railway station itself has three distinctive arches, which have become a symbol of the municipality, and have given rise to the moniker The City of Arches (Danish: Buernes By, which in a play on words sounds remarkably similar to the phrase Byernes By or The City of Cities).
Høje-Taastrup Kommune is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark.
The main town is the town of Taastrup. Other towns in the municipality include Høje Taastrup (without hyphenation), Hedehusene, Fløng, Sengeløse, Vridsløsemagle and Reerslev.
The towns of Høje Taastrup, Taastrup, and Hedehusene are railway station towns in the Greater Copenhagen Authority (Hovedstadens Udviklingsråd (HUR)). The station at Høje Taastrup is one of the largest in Denmark and offers excellent local (Copenhagen-area), regional (including Roskilde, Holbæk and Kalundborg), and national and even international train connections (for example, to Hamburg, Germany).
The town of Høje Taastrup is a new development, centered on the train station. Behind the town hall lies the old village of Høje Taastrup, with its typical country church, picturesque thatch-roofed buildings, and a village pond complete with duck houses. It is a reminder of the area's agricultural past. The farmland that used to lie in the vicinity of the old village has been pretty much developed as of 2005.

DSB, an abbreviation of Danske Statsbaner (Danish State Railways), is the largest Danish train operating company, and the largest in Scandinavia. While DSB is responsible for passenger train operation on most of the Danish railways, goods transport and railway maintenance are outside its scope. DSB runs a commuter rail system, called S-train, in the area around the Danish capital, Copenhagen, that connects the different areas and suburbs in the greater metropolitan area. DSB also operates some trains in Sweden.
DSB was founded in 1885 when the state-owned companies De jysk-fynske Statsbaner and De sjællandske Statsbaner merged.

The DSB class ME are a series of diesel-electric locomotives, introduced in 1981. A total of 37 units were built, all by the German factory Henschel for the Danish State Railways (DSB). They were among the very first AC drive locomotives in serial production.
The locomotives were designed to haul the more heavy regional services in Sjælland, Denmark, in the early 1980s, replacing much of the old rolling stock in use at the time.
The first unit, 1501 arrived in 1981 after many years of delay.[citation needed] Three years later, in 1983, DSB had received a total of 30 units.[citation needed] Although there had been some serious trouble with the locomotives, DSB found a solution on the problems, and an additional seven units were delivered.
All the ME locomotives remain in service in 2014, with the exception of one unit which was scrapped after a fire. However, it is expected that the ME locomotives and the last passenger coaches in service will be replaced by IC3 trainsets when the IC4 trainsets take over intercity services.
Currently the units are painted in DSB's blue/red livery. The locos are technically very identical to the NSB Di4.

IC3 DMU - The IC3 (or class MF) is a Danish-built high-comfort medium/long distance diesel multiple-unit train. The sets were built by ABB Scandia (later purchased by Adtranz, which itself was subsequently acquired by Bombardier Transportation) in Randers. This train model has been operating in Denmark and Sweden since 1989. The name indicates simply that it is a three-carriage InterCity trainset. An electrically powered four-carriage version, the IR4 was introduced between 1995 and 1998.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
IR4 EMUs - The first of the IC3's offspring, which is electrically powered. It was originally designed for the Danish regional traffic, but has later been upgraded and is currently also being used in the InterCity traffic, often together with one or more IC3-set(s) on routes which has been electrified. The IR4 consists of 4 carriages (as implied by its name), all of which are similar in design to the MFA/MFB carriages (when viewed from the outside), with a wide set of doors in one end of each carriages. A total of 44 IR4 sets were built, and all sets are still in use. 1 set burned in 2011 but was rebuilt and re-entered service in 2015.

World's Longest Viking Bridge
Opening of the World’s Longest Viking Bridge
In Copenhagen suburban city of Albertslund, the local Viking Village and the Kroppedal Museum have been building something special.
For the last three years the world’s longest viking bridge have been in the making. It is a reconstruction of the original Ravning Bridge in Jutland build by Harald Bluetooth Gormsson for over a thousand years ago.
More than a thousand children, craftsmen and volunteers have helped building the bridge and on Friday the 13th of September the bridge will be inaugurated with a grand Viking feast when the last two pillars of the bridge are put into the ground.
The Viking Village and Kroppedal Musuem have been building the bridge with support from Nordea-Fonden and the Danish Outdoor Council.
With help from more than a thousand children they have been crafting the world’s longest Viking bridge. Anders Garde Kongshaug, of the tourist production film company VNR, predicts that the bridge can become a new interesting tourist destination in the Copenhagen area: “The Viking Bridge will bring the town of Albertslund in the international press and the town will become more attractable for both visiting and living in”, Anders tells.
The Viking Bridge connects four different Viking roads between the two cultural institutions and the also the two municipalities of Albertslund and Høje-Taastrup by going across the beautiful area of Store Vejleådalen.
“This has been a project of bridging in more senses that just building a bridge.
Cultural institutions come together.
Children come together. Professionals and volunteers alike.
It is historical in any way possible. And now we have a state of the art piece of bridge that Harald Bluetooth constructed for a thousand years ago. The bridge is placed in a fantastic nature area with great potential for the dissemination of the Viking Age
The 700 meter long road and bridge construction is completed and inaugurated on the 13th of September 2019.
It will become an impressive live demonstration of Viking infrastructure and craftsmanship.
No other place in the world can be found a reconstruction like this.
And almost all of the 700 meters have been build by hand with Viking tools and techniques.

Copenhagen, Denmark - Vesterport Station (2018)
Vesterport Station is a S-train station in the city centre of Copenhagen, Denmark. The station is situated below ground level on the Boulevard Line, just before the tunnel connecting Copenhagen Central Station and Østerport Station. Opened on 15 May 1934.
Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark. The city has a population of 775,033 (as of January 2018), of whom 613,288 live in the Municipality of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen urban area has a population of 1,308,893 (as of January 2018). Copenhagen is situated on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand; another small portion of the city is located on Amager, and is separated from Malmö, Sweden, by the strait of Øresund. The Øresund Bridge connects the two cities by rail and road.
Originally a Viking fishing village founded in the 10th century, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. Beginning in the 17th century it consolidated its position as a regional centre of power with its institutions, defences and armed forces. After suffering from the effects of plague and fire in the 18th century, the city underwent a period of redevelopment. This included construction of the prestigious district of Frederiksstaden and founding of such cultural institutions as the Royal Theatre and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. After further disasters in the early 19th century when Horatio Nelson attacked the Dano-Norwegian fleet and bombarded the city, rebuilding during the Danish Golden Age brought a Neoclassical look to Copenhagen's architecture. Later, following the Second World War, the Finger Plan fostered the development of housing and businesses along the five urban railway routes stretching out from the city centre.
Since the turn of the 21st century, Copenhagen has seen strong urban and cultural development, facilitated by investment in its institutions and infrastructure. The city is the cultural, economic and governmental centre of Denmark; it is one of the major financial centres of Northern Europe with the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. Copenhagen's economy has seen rapid developments in the service sector, especially through initiatives in information technology, pharmaceuticals and clean technology. Since the completion of the Øresund Bridge, Copenhagen has become increasingly integrated with the Swedish province of Scania and its largest city, Malmö, forming the Øresund Region. With a number of bridges connecting the various districts, the cityscape is characterised by parks, promenades and waterfronts. Copenhagen's landmarks such as Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid statue, the Amalienborg and Christiansborg palaces, Rosenborg Castle Gardens, Frederik's Church, and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs are significant tourist attractions. The largest lake of Denmark, Arresø, lies around 27 miles (43 kilometers) northwest of the City Hall Square.
Copenhagen is home to the University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark and Copenhagen Business School. The University of Copenhagen, founded in 1479, is the oldest university in Denmark. Copenhagen is home to the FC København and Brøndby football clubs. The annual Copenhagen Marathon was established in 1980. Copenhagen is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world.
The Copenhagen Metro launched in 2002 serves central Copenhagen while the Copenhagen S-train and Lokaltog (private railway) and the Coast Line network serves and connects central Copenhagen to outlying boroughs. To relieve traffic congestion, which is partly the result of increased traffic because of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link road and rail construction is planned because the narrow 9-9.5 mile isthmus between Roskilde Fjord and Køge Bugt (Køge Bay) forms a traffic bottleneck. The Copenhagen-Ringsted Line will relieve traffic congestion in the corridor between Roskilde and Copenhagen.
Serving roughly two million passengers a month, Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, is the busiest airport in the Nordic countries.

COPENHAGEN
Copenhagen is the capital and largest city of Denmark, with an urban area with a population of 1,167,569 (2009) and a metropolitan area with a population of 1,875,179 (2009). Copenhagen is situated on the Islands of Zealand and Amager.
First documented in the 11th century, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the beginning of the 15th century and during the 17th century under the reign of Christian IV it became an important regional centre. With the completion of the transnational Oresund Bridge in 2000, Copenhagen has become the centre of the increasingly integrating Øresund Region with around 3.7 million inhabitants covering an area of 20,869 km² (177/km²). Within this region, Copenhagen and Malmö are in the process of growing into one common metropolitan area. Copenhagen is the most visited city of the Nordic countries with around 1.4 million international tourists every year.
Copenhagen is a major regional center of culture, business, media, and science. In 2008 Copenhagen was ranked #4 by Financial Times-owned FDi magazine on their list of Top50 European Cities of the Future after London, Paris and Berlin. In the 2008 Worldwide Centers of Commerce Index, published by MasterCard, Copenhagen was ranked 14th in the world and 1st in Scandinavia. Life science, information technology and shipping are important sectors and research & development plays a major role in the city's economy. Its strategic location and excellent infrastructure with the largest airport in Scandinavia located 14 minutes by train from the city centre, has made it a regional hub and a popular location for regional headquarters as well as conventions.
Copenhagen has repeatedly been recognized as one of the cities with the best quality of life and in 2008 it was singled out as the Most Liveable City in the World by international lifestyle magazine Monocle on their Top 25 Most Liveable Cities 2008 list. It is also considered one of the world's most environmentally friendly cities with the water in the inner harbor being so clean that it can be used for swimming and 36% of all citizens commuting to work by bicycle, every day bicycling a total 1.1 million km. Since the turn of the millennium Copenhagen has seen a strong urban and cultural development and has been described as a boom town.[15] This is partly due to massive investments in cultural facilities as well as infrastructure and a new wave of successful designers, chefs and architects.

Roskilde is located 30 km (19 mi) west of Copenhagen on the Danish island of Zealand and the main city in Roskilde Municipality. Roskilde is governed by the administrative council of Roskilde Municipality.
Roskilde has a long history, dating from the pre-Christian Viking Age. Its UNESCO-listed Gothic cathedral, now housing 39 tombs of the Danish monarchs, was completed in 1275, becoming a focus of religious influence until the Reformation. With the development of the rail network in the 19th century, Roskilde became an important hub for traffic with Copenhagen, and by the end of the century, there were tobacco factories, iron foundries and machine shops.
Roskilde has a four-platform railway station. Its seven tracks serve as a central hub connecting western and southern Zealand, the islands of Falster and Lolland, and Jutland to Copenhagen. Also within the municipality is the Trekroner station, serving Roskilde University and the developing residential areas to the east of Roskilde. Roskilde Station is the oldest railway station in Denmark still in operation and the first to be built of stone. The first train arrived from Copenhagen on 26 June 1847.
