The former textile factory of Schellens has been transformed into, among other things, city brewery De Stadsbrouwerij. De Stadsbrouwerij serves some of the finest and rarest beers in the city.

The building in which the museum is located is an industrial monument. It was built in 1884 as a Steam Beer Brewery De Valk. This was for years the largest brewery in Eindhoven. In 1893 a plastered annex with office space was added on the left side. Around 1920 a silo with lifting equipment was built on the right side.
From the fifties of the 20th century the company switched to the trade in ice and carbon dioxide and was called IJsfabriek Ant. Coolen & Co... The ice bars were used in the local pubs for cooling beer. In the 80's of the 20th century this company became redundant and stopped production.
After this the building was used as a rehearsal space for a rugby club, but in 1993 the DAF Museum settled in this building, which is closely linked to DAF history. It is listed as a national monument.
Behind the building, Hub van Doorne started his trailer factory in 1928 as a kind of blacksmith's shop. From this, the DAF company later emerged. Brouwer Huengens initially provided Hub with the first credit. In 1931 the company moved to another building.

The Great museum of Caen took most of this day. Then we went on a long road trip to the Netherlands and the city of Eindhoven where we enjoyed ourselves with some beer. Operation Market Garden started in this city.

Me and my dad decided to visit different World War 2-related Cities, places and museums throughout Europe.

The specific time-line that i've posted above is for you to skip to what you want to see in the different episodes.

This was one of the best journeys in my life and I would love to share it with all of you :) I hope you are as interested in travelling as you are with World War II.
