96 Hours In Vancouver
96 Hours in Vancouver - My Long Weekend in Vancouver!
I spent (American) Thanksgiving weekend in Vancouver, Canada. If you're looking for things to do in Vancouver, this video showcases my experience.
My friend Judy and I were invited to a wedding in Vancouver. Determined to make the most out of it, we also planned on making it into a vacation. Vancouver is an incredible city and we ending up having quite the adventure.
This was my first time to visit Vancouver. Coming from Southern California, I was excited to get seasons. Although the weather in Vancouver is apparently pretty lousy most of the time, I really enjoyed the cool fall season. It was cold, but all the trees were red and orange, which you don’t see too often living in LA.

Vancouver Vacation
As I said, we wanted to make the most out of our Vancouver vacation, so we planned out all the activities we wanted to do. But some of that was just relaxing in coffee shops and bars. Vancouver is a big city, and it has a lot of cool places to just stop, sit, and enjoy the environment. Plus it’s vacation. Part of vacation always has to be relaxing.
Vancouver Sightseeing and Activities
We had 3 days for sightseeing and activities. In addition to seeing all the cool things in the city, we also wanted to explore a bit of the area outside of the city. Having both made the vacation better: city + nature. When we got there we literally just looked up things to do in Vancouver online and found all the big and also smaller attractions. These were some of my favorite Vancouver sights and activities:
Capilano Suspension Bridge: It’s a nice nature park with lit up tree houses and walkways, and a giant suspension bridge over the Capilano River.
Granville Island: Take a boat taxi to an island full of shops and restaurants while looking at all the skyscrapers across the water.
Any of the parks! Vacouver has well taken care of parks perfect for running, walking, and relaxing next to the water.
Coal Harbour – Great view of the harbor and it also has the Vancouver Olympic torch/cauldron there.
Deep Cove – This is a nice little town not too far from the city. It’s quiet and has an incredible view of the harbor. There’s also a ski resort nearby if you have time to drive up the mountain.
Check out the bridges, statues, and the steam clock in Vancouver too!
There are plenty of things to do in Vancouver and the surrounding area so make sure you plan out your sightseeing spots and activities.
If you’re planning to visit Vancouver I highly recommend it. I went in the fall but I imagine the summer would be nice too. The whole city is on the water and it has beaches too. I’d love to make a Vancouver vacation in the summer!
Vancouver Travel
Getting around Vancouver is very easy. In fact, we walked to most places. They also have buses, a few rail lines, and boat taxis! Even sea planes (if spending money is your thing). Also, like most airports, The Vancouver airport is outside of the city and then you have to travel in to get to all the attractions.
Anyway, I hope this information helps. That was our weekend in Vancouver adventure. I hope you enjoyed the video.

VANCOUVER | BRITISH COLUMBIA | CANADA |- A TRAVEL TOUR
A walking tour around the city of Vancouver, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada
Vancouver’s breezes carry the scents of nature and aromas of all the urban delights you’d expect from a city regularly voted, “the Worlds most livable”.
The city takes its name from the British navigator who landed here in 1792. The original settlement was called “Gastown”, in honor of Gassy Jack, who built the city’s first tavern. Gassy Jack and his makeshift pub may be long gone, but in the historic neighborhood of Gastown, his spirit lingers on.
Vancouver’s early history continues at Waterfront Station, the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway’s construction brought Chinese workers by the thousands, whose descendants have enriched Vancouver ever since. Experience this interweaving of cultures in Chinatown, where the fusing of Oriental flavors with local seafood has helped earn the city the title, “the Culinary Capital of Canada.”
After visiting Vancouver’s central highlights, ride the ferry to Granville Island. Stock up on provisions at the Granville Island Public Market and sample craft ales at Granville Island Brewing. From Granville Island, head to Queen Elizabeth Park on Little Mountain, a peaceful oasis high above the city.
When it’s time to answer the call of the wild, cross the Lions Gate Bridge to The North Shore, a wilderness where bears roam and salmon-filled rivers flow through old-growth forests. Less than a two-hour drive from the city is Whistler Blackcomb Resort, the largest ski resort in North America. The beautifully connected runs here cater to all skill levels and attract elite skiers and beginners from all over the globe.

East Hastings Vancouver and crime scenes on a dreary rainy afternoon (4k video walk)
My walk around the East Hastings area of Vancouver on a rainy afternoon, filmed on September 22 2019.
This video starts off at the area of East Hastings and Dunlevy Ave, where the Vancouver Police have got a large portion of the block cordoned off with crime scene tape due to a shooting.
We head west along East Hastings Ave where we see many people milling about. Tour some of the alleys, and head back out into the surrounding area and walk through a little of the Gastown area. At the end of the video we come across another crime scene.

In 2009, Vancouver announced that it wanted to become the “Greenest City in the World by 2020”. Their action plan hopes to wean the city off fossil fuels and prioritizes pedestrians, bikes and transit when planning neighborhoods. As a result, Vancouver now has the lowest carbon emissions of any city in North America.

Let's Go - Vancouver
'Let's Go' on a journey through arguably one of the most beautiful cities in the world as we profile one of North Americas most dynamic landscapes - Vancouver.
One of the most diverse cities in the world, Vancouver is the second largest port city to only New York City - which explains why half of it's residents were born outside of Vancouver. Within an hours drive, you can be transported throughout several different climates - from costal beaches to towering forests, snow-capped mountain ranges to a rainy city center.
Did you know it is also home to Stanley Park which is over 10% larger than Central Park?

Vancouver dad on raising 5 free-range kids in city apartment
Adrian Crook lives with his five kids in a condo in downtown Vancouver. When he separated from his wife, he left the suburbs - bucking the pressure in North America that kids need a house and a backyard - and rented a 29th-floor penthouse in the very dense Yaletown district.
To maximize the two bedroom space, Crook uses transforming furniture. A murphy bed slash desk turns his bedroom into a home office (he’s a videogame designer). The bottom half of his girls’ bunk bed transforms into a table and desk. A carpenter friend turned two IKEA bunk beds into a triple bunk for his three boys.
Crook grew up in the suburbs, but became hooked on the vibrancy of city living as an adult. He gave up his car and he and the kids rely on bikes, public transit and their feet. Crook estimates they walk about 10 kilometers per day just going to and from school and activities.
He taught his kids to ride the bus alone, but - despite praise from fellow riders (one wrote Crook praising the kids’ skills and behaviour)- after an anonymous complaint from a concerned citizen, the British Columbia government weighed in and determined that kids under 10 can’t be alone (neither on the bus nor at home). Some Canadian media are calling it a debate between “helicopter” and “free-range” parenting or a battle against the “nanny state”. Crook has launched a legal battle. Crook is also running for city council and has founded two non-profits to advocate for both better transit and more housing choices (denser zoning options in Metro Vancouver).

VANCOUVER - CITY OF INSPIRATION
Spent the past few months running around my home town capturing the rawest moments of Vancouver. There is just simply so much to see and one video definitely isn't enough to showcase. For me and many other creative artists, exploring Vancouver inspires us to pursue our dream and chase a passion. It gives us the comfort to keep working on our own practice and know that results will show as time progresses.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video and feel free to drop a like and subscribe for more.

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, in the Canadian Rockies, is located on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), where their Shuswap Sub meets their Mountain Sub. The Shuswap Sub runs to the west to Kamloops, BC (towards Vancouver, BC), and the Mountain Sub runs to the east to Field, BC, through Rogers Pass.
The CP traverses the Canadian Rockies over 2 passes. Rogers Pass, which is to the immediate east of Revelstoke, and further east, Kicking Horse Pass, which is to the immediate east of Field. Rogers Pass is at 4,360 feet (1,330 meters), and Kicking Horse Pass is at 5,339 feet (1,627 meters). To the west of Revelstoke is the lower Eagle Pass, at 1,804 feet (550 meters).
Among the freight trains seen here are unit potash, unit grain, and unit coal. Loaded westbounds feature both mid-train and end-of-train DPU’s, and empty eastbounds have fewer engines, both on front and as DPU’s. Many but not all eastbounds will stop to enter the yard, which is located to the east of the museum and cameras. Also seen are manifests, intermodal, and combined intermodal/manifest..
On occasion, the gates will activate, but will soon after deactivate, with no train, which is due to the switcher in the yard proceeding far forward enough to enter the crossing's track circuit.
There are no VIA Rail passenger trains through Revelstoke, however, during part of the year the Rocky Mountaineer can be seen.
There are 2 ATCS layouts, one for each sub, but there is no server coverage. No radio feeds are available.
There’s no schedule for freight trains, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking.
