one weekend in Bucharest is not enough to visit all attractions.
We visit the palace of parlament, triumphal arch, old town and the village museum. one of the best restaurant to eat Romanian food is Caru cu Bere in old town.

ROMANIAN STREET FOOD FESTIVAL - Romania, Oradea
ROMANIAN STREET FOOD FESTIVAL - Romania, Oradea
It is always a pleasure for me to come back to this beautiful city. I have spent around 4.5 years in Oradea, during my studies and loved every single bit of it.
Oradea is a beautiful city, split by the Crisu Repede river and the home of many amazing architecture. It is known for baroque and art nouveau architecture, remnants of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
Probably the most popular place in the city is the Black Eagle palace which holds many pubs and terraces. Another attraction would be the Moon Church which has a unique mechanism that follows the moon phases throughout the month.
Recently the 15th century fortress became quite popular due to its renovation. It played a key role throughout the history in many conflicts between the Turks, Hungarians and Austrians. Viewed from above it looks like a star and for sure it became one for the city.
Today it holds many festivals, events and even as we speak a food festival is taking place, showcasing various cousins from around the world.
If you are visiting Romania, Oradea has to be on your list, it won’t disappoint.

ROMANIA: THE BEAUTIFUL MEDIEVAL SQUARE ???? in BRASOV, let's walk around!
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit The Council Square (Piața Sfatului in Romanian) which is located in the historic centre of Brașov, Romania. It obtained its right to hold markets in 1520, but it has been the place for weekly and annual markets since 1364, being visited by merchants from the country and abroad. It is surrounded by 18th-19th century houses, most of which are historical monuments.
Brașov is a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. It's known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes. Piaţa Sfatului (Council Square) in the cobbled old town is surrounded by colorful baroque buildings and is home to the Casa Sfatului, a former town hall turned local history museum.
Romania is a southeastern European country known for the forested region of Transylvania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. Its preserved medieval towns include Sighişoara, and there are many fortified churches and castles, notably clifftop Bran Castle, long associated with the Dracula legend. Bucharest, the country’s capital, is the site of the gigantic, Communist-era Palatul Parlamentului government building.

Lisbon Day 8: Museum of the Oriente and Street Life After Dark. (Romania Day 2018).
We set off by tram to explore the Lisbon Museum of the Oriente / Museu Fundação Oriente. The big moment had come to find out if our travel cards would still work after having gone through the washing machine!
We weren't allowed to film the exhibits in the museum, but I combined some stills and the museum's official literature with our own account to give a personal review of the experience.
Later that evening, we headed out after dark for a walk, not expecting much to be going on, only to discover that the streets were filled with the throng of activity: not only a large number of talented buskers, but also a huge corporate event to celebrate the Romanian Centenary of the Great Union, complete with a traditional Romania dance team, a cinematic projection and a speech delivered to assembled delegates.
Thanks so much for coming along with us on today's journey. Don't forget to subscribe for more from this channel. x

Romanian Street Food ?
It's been quite some time since I last wrote something. For the past four weeks, I was pretty much taking time to catch up with family, reconnecting with old friends and get accommodated with my new job.
I have exactly one month since I left the UK and yes I started noticing the differences, things I like and not so much. Probably I'll write a separate blog about this topic, but another time.
I really missed vlogging, blogging, so I went into the city, Zalau, to explore whether there are any street food in this place or not. Lucky enough there was a traditional food event happening in the city and I was able to take a few shots of it.
You could smell the smoky air from a distance and hear the Romanian folk music. On the first day of the food event they had a traditional dish with beans and sausage and 2nd day fried cabbage with sausage. Pork is like the king of protein in Romania, its present in almost every dish.
You can also find almost at any corner of the street the traditional hungarian / romanian so called cheese pie, which is nothing more but a deep fired dough filled with salty cheese, sour-cream and garlic sauce.
Another street food you will find on the streets in Romanian, in specially around Transylvania is the Kürtőskalács. This is a sweet bread borrowed from our hungarian fellows. You can have it with different toppings, like sugar, chestnut, coconut and so on.
These are only a few of the street foods I fell into while exploring my hometown, but believe me there are so much more.
A quick heads up about my plans for the next few weeks. I will most probably show you a bit more about Zalau and than I am planning to go on a hunt for the best Christmas market in Romania. This will be a trip into the major cities in Transylvania across 5-7 days.
As always, thank you so much for stepping by. Enjoy!

Going by train from Bucharest's Gara de Nord to Brasov is fairly easy! You can arrive right before your intended departure time and pretty much be guaranteed a ticket. We arrived an hour early for our train, and purchased tickets at the counter. The train ticket from Bucharest to Brasov cost about 50 lei each which is approximately $13 Canadian at current exchange rate. The journey took 2 and a half hours. The seats were arranged in groups of four seats facing one another. We sat with an older couple, and ate our snacks. The trip went pretty quickly, but one critique is that there wasn't much leg room in the seats. You had to interlock your knees with complete strangers..... alas, when in Rome...ANIA , get to know the locals really really well.
The train ride was beautiful, and we filmed a lot of the journey through forests and fields and mountains closer to the end of the trip.Once we arrived in Brasov, we walked about 15 minutes to our hostel in the city centre (Jugendstube). Our hostel was located right off one of the main pedestrian streets in the old town, and the room was amazing for just 30 euros a night (including breakfast)! On many street corners you can buy hot mulled wine from carts, and wander around with your warm beverage, whilst exploring the streets and lane ways.
We ate dinner outside in the Old town square, pizza and a Timisoreau beer.

We Visit a ROMA Village
Ever wanted to immerse yourself in Romani culture and find out what goes on behind the doors of these often overlooked and stigmatised communities?
*Roma village experience from 15m08s*
⤖ Support our content ⬻
In our latest video we say our goodbyes in Hungary after an incredible time visiting Budapest, the capital city and Hortobagy National park where we stayed with a local Horseman and his wife. Before we leave, we delve in to an abandoned military barracks and try to reach the tower, but once inside, we find we aren't alone.
As we leave Hungary, the border station decide they aren't happy with our friends Canadian passport, and they hold us for investigation. Will ever leave?! Spoiler, yes we will. As we enter Romania, our memories of this beautifully crazy country come flooding back. We make a brief stopover in Cluj Napoca, the capital of the Transylvanian region of Romania.
As we enter the second half of the travelogue, we arrive at an old friends house. Tibi is from the Romani community in Romania, a separate ethnic group thought to originate from the Punjab region of India over 3000 years ago.
He warmly invites us in to his home where we eat a feast of traditional foods, before cranking the music up and introducing us to Romani music and dance. We explore the village, meet the locals, hear stories, learn traditional basket weaving from one of the villages oldest weavers and drink plenty of Rakia!
Join us as we experience authentic Roma life, from a completely honest viewpoint. Witness the effects social stigma plays in modern life for Romani people, and the warmth and hospitality the villagers display, despite the obvious language and social barriers.
If you’d like to know more about Romani life and would yourself like to visit the village of Serbia or Romani villages across Romania, please contact us for details.
We hope you enjoy and as usual, let us know what you think in the comments.

A little about us...
We’re Lucy and Ben, two photographers from Cornwall, UK who’ve been living and travelling in our self-converted LDV Convoy camper van for the best part of four years. We’ve travelled all across Europe from West to East documenting our encounters with the people we meet as well as our own travels and adventures. We embrace the ethos of slow travel and minimal living, generally spending between 2 and 8 weeks in each country, getting to know each culture, cuisine and people as though we were locals ourselves as well as hiking, wild swimming and camping as we go.
We are currently on our third 7 month long road trip, travelling through the Balkans for the second time beginning in the French Alps and venturing as far East as Turkey, visiting 13 countries in between.
Our plan was simple: visit every country in Europe in our rusty tin can of a van. So far we’ve made it to 28 countries, travelling as far West as Portugal and as far East as Ukraine, having all sorts of crazy adventures in between.
Our main motivation for our travels is to capture photos and create documentary projects, so our van is primarily a vessel for our photography. We tend to focus on topics such as nomadism, traditional ways of life, the effects of recent political events and the difficulties of living in remote rural areas as well as documenting our own adventures and lifestyle on our various social channels.
