Poland's Underground City Of Salt
Wieliczka Salt Mine is, without a doubt, one of the coolest and most unique places we have ever been! Located just outside of Krakow, this is a MUST VISIT in Poland. The salt mine has been around since the 14th century and is now a UNESCO site. There's a whole city of people going about their business every single day deep beneath the ground. The salt mines can have 10,000 people a day moving through them, which is why there are 500 guides and 200 maintenance staff working here. EVERYTHING IS MADE OF SALT. You will not be able to get over this fact as you make your way through the mines. There are 300 kilometres of tunnels (the same distance from Krakow to Warsaw!), 2000 chambers, many chapels, and countless intricate sculptures all made of SALT. You can lick the walls, if you don't believe it! The craziest part? What we see represents only 1% of the existing salt mine. The mine has received many famous visitors over the centuries from Chopin, Goethe, and John Paul II to dignitaries and king and queens. You walk down 380 steps to enter the mine and, thankfully, take a super fast elevator back to the surface after your tour. The Wieliczka Salt Mine (Kopalnia Soli Wieliczka) is full of layers of history, intrigue, art, and culture. The feeling you have visiting is just total awe. Do not miss the chance to visit Wieliczka.

Mural Święcickiego na ul. Augusta Cieszkowskiego w Bydgoszczy

Torun treasure of Poland

————————————————————
Toruń,Poland was founded by the Teutonic Order, in the 13th century. The unique spatial layout of Toruń has remained unchanged for 700 years.
During the Middle Ages it developed a commercial role as part of the Hanseatic League. In the Old and New Town, imposing buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries (among them the house of Copernicus) are striking evidence of Toruń's rich past.
A Gothic town hall built in the late 14th century is the centrepiece of Torun’s old town. It is one of the biggest brick buildings of its kind in Europe. For centuries, it was the administrative and commercial hub of the city; it was near here that fairs were held, tribute was paid to the rulers, knights fought in tournaments, and the condemned were publically executed. Today, the building houses a district museum, where visitors can see local handicraft and Polish paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries.
One of the medieval tenements from the second half of the 15th century houses the Home of Nicolaus Copernicus, the astronomer who proved that the Earth does not sit at the centre of universe, but rather orbits the sun along with other planets.
Torun’s medieval city walls are the oldest in Poland. Their first section dates back to 1246-62. Almost from its very beginnings, the city was surrounded by two rings of defence walls separated by a wet moat. A single wall was only built along the Vistula riverside. A three-kilometre long section of Torun’s city walls had 54 towers, 12 gates and two barbicans proper. Nine towers and three gates have survived to this day.
An old Teutonic castle was part of the city’s defences alongside high walls, towers, and gates. Today, it is a favourite site for walks, theatre performances, and music concerts.
An attractive walking route is also Podmurna Street, Torun’s longest medieval street. This cobbled road is full of charming nooks and historic monuments. The street begins near the moat and the Burgher House, and weaves its way next to an historic granary, the Feline Head tower, and the Mint Gate.
Its 15-metre-high Leaning Tower constructed at the turn of the 14th century is inclined like the famous Tower of Pisa.

D.A.G. Fabrik Bromberg – The Secret Nazi Factory
D.A.G Fabrik Bromberg was a secret Nazi Germany factory, located in the Bydgoszcz area in Poland. Its darkest and most prominent years, however, were during the period between 1939 and 1945, when the factory served to meet the military needs of the Third Reich.
The factory manufactured riffle bullets, shells, anti-tank and anti-infantry miles for the German land forces, as well as torpedoes and naval mines for the German navy. According to experts, in 1944 DAG was responsible for one third of the entire gunpowder production – the impressive 13 thousand tons per month.
Chopin's Warsaw
If you visit Warsaw you're guaranteed to find many places bearing the name of Frederic Chopin, a world famous Polish composer. Chopin was born in a small town near Warsaw in 1810 and lived in Warsaw for about twenty years before moving to Paris where he spent the rest of his life and died in 1849. Upon his death, he requested that his heart be brought back to Warsaw where it now rests in the wall of Holy Cross Church. In this video, we visit the Fryderyk Chopin Museum to learn more about the life and work of this musical genius and favourite son of Warsaw.
Huge thank you to the Polish Tourism Organization for having us!

WE QUIT OUR JOBS TO TRAVEL - SERIES 1: EUROPE ROAD TRIP
We proudly present the Director's Cut of the European Roadtrip leg of our trip including leaving home in the United States, our first few weeks in Germany, and then the drive south through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and backup through Italy.
While not technically part of the roadtrip, this video also includes Greece (Santorini and Athens)as well as the visits to Poland and Turkey. Somewhere in there we go to Cyprus-it’s a country, ya know? Also, we’re cheating a bit here, but we threw the visit to Dubai into this episode...because why not?

ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny.
We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

jerusalem center
Jerusalem is situated on the southern spur of a plateau in the Judean Mountains, which include the Mount of Olives (East) and Mount Scopus (North East). The elevation of the Old City is approximately 760 m (2,490 ft).[ The whole of Jerusalem is surrounded by valleys and dry riverbeds (wadis). The Kidron, Hinnom, and Tyropoeon Valleys intersect in an area just south of the Old City of Jerusalem.[155] The Kidron Valley runs to the east of the Old City and separates the Mount of Olives from the city proper. Along the southern side of old Jerusalem is the Valley of Hinnom, a steep ravine associated in biblical eschatology with the concept of Gehenna or Hell.[156] The Tyropoeon Valley commenced in the northwest near the Damascus Gate, ran south-southeasterly through the center of the Old City down to the Pool of Siloam, and divided the lower part into two hills, the Temple Mount to the east, and the rest of the city to the west (the lower and the upper cities described by Josephus). Today, this valley is hidden by debris that has accumulated over the centuries.[155] In biblical times, Jerusalem was surrounded by forests of almond, olive and pine trees. Over centuries of warfare and neglect, these forests were destroyed. Farmers in the Jerusalem region thus built stone terraces along the slopes to hold back the soil, a feature still very much in evidence in the Jerusalem landscape.[citation needed]
Water supply has always been a major problem in Jerusalem, as attested to by the intricate network of ancient aqueducts, tunnels, pools and cisterns found in the city.
Jerusalem is 60 kilometers (37 mi)[158] east of Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean Sea. On the opposite side of the city, approximately 35 kilometers away, is the Dead Sea, the lowest body of water on Earth. Neighboring cities and towns include Bethlehem and Beit Jala to the south, Abu Dis and Ma'ale Adumim to the east, Mevaseret Zion to the west, and Ramallah and Giv'at Ze'ev to the north.2
Mount Herzl, at the western side of the city near the Jerusalem Forest, serves as the national cemetery of Israel.

Lyrics:
The air is thick of grey smoke.
The air is thick of (the) prophecy long forgotten.
The air is thick of salt sweat,
The air is thick of sweat of these who fall in Sodden
He puts on his black helmet.
Rustle of the raven wings.
His sword gets unsheathed,
Craves for its cuts and swings.
Black horses and their hoofs'
Savage clangour on red stones.
Wild and manic death ride
Within great Cintra walls.
Pitch black feathers, crimson fire,
Silent groaning left behind.
Decimation, ravage, wreckage,
Ruins of her broken mind.
Death, destruction in my city
Broken defence, this is the end
Why has Fate choosen me
Hunting for royal blood
Are you my saviour?
Are you my fate?
This is Nilfgaard's wrath
Warrior with black feathers
He puts on his black helmet.
Rustle of the raven wings.
His sword gets unsheathed,
Craves for its cuts and swings.
Black horses and their hoofs'
Savage clangour on red stones.
Wild and manic death ride
Within great Cintra walls.
Pitch black feathers, crimson fire,
Silent groaning left behind.
Decimation, ravage, wreckage,
Ruins of her broken mind.
Death, destruction in my city
Broken defence, this is the end
Why has Fate choosen me
Hunting for royal blood
Are you my saviour?
Are you my fate?

City Trails - Krakow 2008
A brief tour of Krakow, Poland in 2008. Starting from Polands main River Vistula, we work our way up from the Kazimierz District (Old Jewish Quarter) and proceed to the old town. The main railway station is featured and also Krakows notable variety of trams. The annual dragon parade makes an entrance on Europes largest market square, overlooked by the Church of St Mary. St Florians Gate is the last remant of the old town walls and is situated next to the red bricked Barbican. A large open-air museum situated east of the city, the Museum of Aviation offers an impressive amount of vintage and some modern aircraft and warplanes.
