02 The City of Gdynia - BUILDINGS FOR SCIENCE AND CULTURE, Gdynia / Poland, Exhibition AEDES Berlin
02 The city of Gdynia / Introduction of Dr. Jacek Friedrich, Director, Gdynia City Museum
BUILDINGS FOR SCIENCE AND CULTURE, Gdynia / Poland, Exhibition AEDES Berlin: 19.06-11.08.2016
A prominent urban development project in Gdynia is the 'Pomeranian Science and Technology Park' by the architectural firm AEC Krymow & Partners, completed in 2013. The complex, whose design language is inspired by the city’s historic modernist architecture, was built on the former site of the Redłowo trolleybus depot. With an area spanning more than 80,000 square meters, it comprises office space, laboratories, and the Experyment Science Center.
Augmented by a variety of charts, photographs, and film excerpts, the exhibition traces the evolution of this Polish city and its architecture. It presents the revitalization and expansion plans for Gdynia’s industrial area, introduces the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park project, and advances the discourse on urban development, Modernism, innovation, and new solutions in the realm of architectural design and materials.

THE MUSEUM OF POLISH EMIGRATION - Gdynia , Poland ( September 2018 )
ANDREW LACZYNSKI ANDRZEJ Łączyński in MUSEUM of the CITY of GDYNIA - MUZEUM MIASTA GDYNI
Nocturne — color
Andrzej Łączyński (Andrew Laczynski) born in Gdynia, an artist living in Sweden, graduated from Photoschool in Gdańsk (1980--1985) and School of Art in Göteborg (1994--1999). Displayed his works during individual exhibitions in Gdynia, Kraków, Sopot, Włocławek and Göteborg, as well as on general exhibitions in Gdańsk, Kraków, Malmö, Oslo, Gdynia, Sandefjord and Göteborg. The artist took also part in various events of performance in the Old Theatre in Kraków, the Theatre Atelier in Göteborgu and others. In July 2009 he projected patterns for fajans in Włocławek Factory of Fajans.
An exhibition in the Museum of the City of Gdynia is a part of celebrations of the Chopin's Year. We present porcelain birds, covered with patterns by artist, looking for shelter in the shadow of afortepiano's wing and drawings made with ink, pencil and char-coal presenting Polish landscape. In his works we can notice an artist's admiration to the landscape, that was also inspiring for Polish pianist. Birds — symbole of freedom — are accompynied by painted porcelain designed and painted by artist himself in the Włocławek Factory of Fajans. The exhibition is complemented by installation made of banners and artist's paintings.
Curator of the exhibition: Anna Śliwa
Ps: Due to big interest of visitors we decided to prolong the exhibition to 10-th October 2010.
Muzeum Emigracji w Gdyni. Museum of Emigration in Gdynia
With Poland thought to have the sixth largest diaspora in the world (the group is known as the Polonia and is thought to number over 20 million), the museum does an excellent job of explaining the various situations, political and economic, which have made people consistently leave Poland, to places like the USA, Australia and even Brazil.
The building which is the museum’s home is also particularly noteworthy. Located on the French Quay in Gdynia Port, the beautifully renovated Dworzec Morski (Marine Station) dates from the 1930s and is a wonderful example of the architecture that was in fashion as Gdynia expanded rapidly after WWI. The building became the main gateway to the world for Polish emigrants in the inter-war years.

Top best places to visit in Sopot & Gdynia
Sopot is a resort town, located between Gdansk and Gdynia. The main reason why this city is so famous is the longest wooden pier in Europe. Stretching out into the Bay of Gdansk in sunny days is full of people. Heroes of Monte Cassino is a street you can not miss. With tourist and street artists on every corner it is also a cultural center. Around this place you can find some good restaurants, clubs or theaters. The Crooked House makes this street even more lively and interesting.
The walkway starts from St. George’s Church and ends at the lighthouse and Spa Square next to the Wooden Pier. A lot of people are coming here for this long and beautiful beach. But most of them forget that they can see settlement from Middle Ages and learn about early Polish culture as well.
Sopot can be proud of their basketball team as they won 5 championships in a row. But the most the famous place in Sopot, just next to the Wooden Pier of course, is the Forest Opera. Opera is famous for its big event International Song Festival. On the way back from Forest Opera don't forget to check this nice view of the city. But the best view is from the lighthouse. With the view of city center and Wooden Pier.
Gdynia. Central point of the city is the Kosciusko Square. This is also the beginning of the Southern Pier. Two important, historic vessels are moored here. Today these are museums and great tourist attractions. The Southern Pier is the most picturesque spot of the city.

This is a short video about my trip to Gdynia, Poland in February 2015.
I was spending one month in Gdansk and the iconic seaside port city of Gdynia was just a short train ride away.
There are a lot of things to do in Gdynia including the Gdynia Aquarium, Maritime Museum, and the Kosciuszki Square.
At the Southern Pier you'll find the 1909 tall ship Dar Pomorza and the World War II Destroyer ORP Blyskawica.
During the summer you can swim in the Gulf of Danzig.
Even in the winter Gdynia is a fun place to visit and a gem of the Tri-City area.
The song I used is a classic Polish song from the Lublin region of the country.
Gdynia Trolleybuses - 2
2nd of 3 videos about Gdynia Trolleybuses (in Poland). Starting near the Docks (unfortunately for the video, in extremely bright sunshine), this video shows the twin bridges which used to be the only way in to the docks - one was inbound, one outbound, now they are both outbound; a new inbound bridge was built later, also seen on the video. The two old bridges were the site of the clashes between the shipyard workers and the Communist authorities in 1970. These were the forerunner to the more famous Solidarity strikes in nearby Gdansk in 1980.
After the shipyards, we move back near the Town Centre, and then to the end of routes 23 & 27 at Karwiny, the site of a new massive supermarket complex that was under construction at the time, and explains the large number of trolleybuses terminating here.
The Gdynia video series starts at:

Poland in 4K UHD - Gdynia Marina.
We are in Gdynia Poland. Gdynia is a city in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland and a seaport of Gdańsk Bay on the south coast of the Baltic Sea. For centuries, Gdynia remained a small farming and fishing village on the Baltic coast. At the beginning of the 20th-century Gdynia became a seaside resort town and experienced an inflow of tourists. After Poland regained its independence in 1918, a decision was made to construct a Polish seaport in Gdynia. Today the port of Gdynia is a regular stopover on the itinerary of luxurious passenger ships and a new ferry terminal with a civil airport are under realisation.
A great tourist attraction in Gdynia is the Marina. There are two anchored museum ships, the destroyer ORP Błyskawica and the frigate Dar Pomorza. Today we visit both ships and walk around the Marina.

Miastofonia - Fontanny (Skwer Kościuszki/Plac Kaszubski)
Płyta do nabycia w Muzeum Miasta Gdyni (muzeumgdynia.pl)
Miastofonia to unikatowy album muzyczny, będący portretem dźwiękowym Gdyni.
Miastofonia relaksuje, intryguje i…uzależnia.

Miastofonia is an essential sound portrait of Gdynia. Innovative music album, made by ambient musician Michał Jeziorski (also known as Spika) is a journey through city’s most interesting places and districts.
Sounds of the sea, industrial noises, shimmering trees, footsteps and roaring engines, along with rhythmic and smooth synth lines, are both relaxing and…addicting. Listening to Miastofonia is like taking a walk through the city without leaving your house.
Miastofonia combines classic ambient sounds and field recordings inspired by Brian Eno and Aphex Twin and blends them with downtempo, chillout and…unique atmosphere of Gdynia city.
Album is released by Gdynia City Museum.

Invitation to the Gdynia - Tel Aviv temporary exhibition at POLIN Museum
Gdynia and Tel Aviv are 3,000 kilometers apart but you will be surprised to learn how much they have in common. Both were founded at more or less the same time as seaports - gates to the world, and both soon turned into elegant summer resorts and modern harbors. The two cities share characteristic Modernist architecture, and joint Polish-Jewish history. You have an opportunity to get acquainted with the similarities and differences between them at the Gdynia-Tel Aviv exhibition open for viewing until 3 February 2020.
