Adelaide (Listeni/ˈædəleɪd/ ad-ə-layd)[8] is the capital city of the state of South Australia, and the fifth-most populous city of Australia. In June 2014, Adelaide had an estimated resident population of 1.3 million.[1] South Australia, with a total of 1.7 million inhabitants, has the most centralised population of any state in Australia, with more than 75 percent of its people living in greater Adelaide, while the other population centres in the state are relatively small.
The demonym Adelaidean is used in reference to the city and its residents.[9][10] Adelaide is north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, on the Adelaide Plains between the Gulf St Vincent and the low-lying Mount Lofty Ranges which surround the city. Adelaide stretches 20 km (12 mi) from the coast to the foothills, and 90 km (56 mi) from Gawler at its northern extent to Sellicks Beach in the south.
Named in honour of Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, queen consort to King William IV, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for a freely-settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, designed the city and chose its location close to the River Torrens, in the area originally inhabited by the Kaurna people. Light's design set out Adelaide in a grid layout, interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded by parklands. Early Adelaide was shaped by prosperity and wealth — up until the Second World War, it was Australia's third largest city.[11] It has been noted for early examples of religious freedom, a commitment to political progressivism and civil liberties. It has been known as the City of Churches since the mid-19th century.[12]
As South Australia's seat of government and commercial centre, Adelaide is the site of many governmental and financial institutions. Most of these are concentrated in the city centre along the cultural boulevard of North Terrace, King William Street and in various districts of the metropolitan area. Today, Adelaide is noted for its many festivals and sporting events, its food and wine, its long beachfronts, and its large defence and manufacturing sectors. It ranks highly in terms of liveability, being listed in the Top 10 of The Economist Intelligence Unit's World's Most Liveable Cities index in 2010,[13] 2011,[14] 2012[15] and 2015.[16] It was also ranked the most liveable city in Australia by the Property Council of Australia in 2011,[17] 2012[18] and 2013
Before European settlement[edit]
Prior to its proclamation as a British settlement in 1836, the area around Adelaide was inhabited by the indigenous Kaurna Aboriginal nation (pronounced Garner or Gowna).
Kaurna culture and language was almost completely destroyed within a few decades of the European settlement of South Australia in 1836.[20] However, extensive documentation by early missionaries and other researchers has enabled a modern revival of both language and culture

My Life in Taiwan Vlog #3Best Park-Da’an Forest Park-(我在台灣的生活Vlog#3最佳公園-大安森林公園)
Da’an Forest Park
Situated in the urban center, Da'an Forest Park officially opened in 1994, bordering Jianguo South Rd. in the east, Xinsheng South Road in the west, Heping East Road in the south, and Xinyi Road in the north. Covered in grasslands, trees, flowers and foliage plants, there is a Buddha Statue and a bamboo forest in the south, an open - air theatre for art performances in the center, and an accessible recreational area surrounding it attracts many park visitors. Known as the lungs of Taipei City, the park is a green world unto itself. Besides shaded trails for pedestrians and joggers, the park is equipped with a wide range of recreational facilities, including a public square, public bicycles, open-air music stage, children playground, kiosks etc, providing Taipei's citizens with a valuable green space and the best venue for exercise and recreation.
Forest is the homeland of water sources. In addition to providing various recreational functions to the public, the park is a place where priceless water resources are nourished. Therefore, the Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs, hopes to educate citizens, by means of formative influences, to cherish the limited water resources; the means include water saving apparatus installed inside the park, the public toilet demo system, and the water purification plant experiment; and to make the park the best showcase of water preservation.

Shanghai 4K - Drive from Shaanxi S Rd to Wukang Rd - Shanghai - China 中国上海驾车从陕西南路经淮海路到武康路视频
#China #Shanghai #Shanghai4k
Huaihai Road or Huaihai Lu is one of the two major shopping streets in Shanghai, China; the other is Nanjing Road. Compared with the more touristy Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road is more upscale, and is the preferred destination of local residents. Huaihai Road comprises three sections, the main section being Middle Huaihai Road in the former French Concession of Shanghai. Middle Huaihai Road is also well known by its former French name Avenue Joffre.
Today's Huaihai Road comprises three sections, which were formerly three distinct streets. West Huaihai Road, formerly called Jordan Road, is 1,510 meters (4,950 ft) long and forms part of the boundary between Changning District and Xuhui District. East Huaihai Road, formerly Ningbo Road, is 373 meters (1,224 ft) long and was the boundary road between Huangpu and Nanshi districts before the two districts merged. Middle Huaihai Road, the main section, is 5,500 meters (18,000 ft) long. Most of this section lies in the former Luwan District (which was also merged into Huangpu in 2010), and extends west into Xuhui and Changning districts.
Middle Huaihai Road was built in 1901 as Rue Sikiang. Five years later it was renamed Route Paul Brunat . It was renamed again in 1915 to Avenue Joffre to honor the French general Joseph Joffre, who visited Shanghai and attended an official renaming ceremony in 1922. In the 1920s Avenue Joffre became an enclave of a large community of Russians fleeing the Communist revolution in their homeland.
The Japanese occupied Shanghai during World War II, taking over the foreign concessions in 1941. In 1943 Avenue Joffre was renamed Taishan Road after Mount Taishan. The name only lasted two years, and after Japan was defeated the Kuomintang government renamed the street Lingsen Road in honor of Lin Sen (Ling Sen), the former President of the Republic of China who had died in 1943. However, the Communists in turn defeated the Kuomintang in the Chinese Civil War, and took over Shanghai in 1949. A year later the Communist government gave the street the current name, to commemorate its victorious Huaihai Campaign.
The 5.5-kilometer (3.4 mi) long Middle Huaihai Road has a large number of shops lining its route, from small boutiques to major department stores and shopping malls, as well as hotels and restaurants. Major buildings include Lippo Plaza, Shui On Plaza, Central Plaza, Shanghai Square, Shanghai Times Square, Hong Kong Plaza, and K11, most hosting shopping malls or department stores on the lower floors with offices on top.
The eastern section of Middle Huaihai Road near the popular Xintiandi precinct has recently seen an influx of a large number of Western luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton , Rolex , Coach, Inc. , Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A. , Balenciaga , Dior , Burberry , Moschino , Valentino SpA , Versace , Dolce & Gabbana , Miu Miu , Marks & Spencer , UGG , Tiffany & Co. , Cartier , Gucci , Prada , Victoria's Secret , Hermès , Vivienne Westwood , Giorgio Armani SpA , Chanel and Ermenegildo Zegna. Many of the stores were opened in 2010 to coincide with the Shanghai Expo.

USA: WASHINGTON: FREEDOM FOR TIBET RALLY STAGED
English/Nat
Thousands of students gathered for a rally on the steps of Capitol Hill in Washington on Monday to call for freedom for Tibet.
Some of Hollywood's hottest names were there, along with members of Congress
With less than two weeks to go before President Clinton travels to China, they called on him to speak out for Tibet when he meets Chinese leaders.
The rally was the culmination of a weekend full of events, including a two-day concert which drew a crowd of 120-thousand people.
It might have been the third day of rallying for Tibet, but the crowd was no less enthusiastic.
Over two thousand people filled the plaza on the west side of the Capitol building to call for freedom for Tibet.
The protesters urged President Clinton to address human rights abuses in Tibet and push for negotiations between Chinese leaders and the Dalai Lama.
The rally followed a concert in Washington which lasted all weekend and starred some of the world's top rock stars, who performed for a crowd of around 120-thousand.
The rally attracted its fair share of exiled political prisoners, rock stars and lawmakers.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
The situation in Tibet has challenged the conscience of the world. And the world has failed to meet the challenge.
SUPER CAPTION: Representative Nancy Pelosi Republican, California
But the main focus of the rally at the Capitol was President Clinton himself, who many claim has ignored the Tibetan cause in the name of trade with China.
The Himalayan region was invaded by China in 1950 and annexed nine years later, provoking an outcry from civil rights groups all over the world.
When Clinton travels to Beijing next Thursday, he will be the first U-S president to make the journey since the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown.
Musician Sean Lennon - son of John Lennon - was one big name who called on Clinton to take up the issue of Tibet during his visit.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
We cannot allow Bill Clinton to ignore Tibet any more. As many first world countries have developed their economy and their technology, Tibet has been developing its spirituality. That spirit must be preserved. Once it's gone it will be gone forever. We cannot let the Tibetan culture disappear like so many other cultures have under the hands of larger and more powerful nations.
SUPER CAPTION: Sean Lennon, Musician
Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys was another star who criticised Clinton for not being more aggressive with Chinese leaders about human rights abuses, particularly during Chinese President Jiang Zemin's visit to the United States last autumn.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I think that it is all of our responsibilities to put that pressure on him and to let Bill Clinton know that he is not going to get away with this. That this is going to be remembered.
SUPER CAPTION: Adam Yauch, Beastie Boys
Although he was absent for the festivities over the weekend, one of Hollywood's loudest voices for Tibet took centre stage as Monday's rally drew to a close.
While he had harsh words for the Clinton administration, Gere also had a message for the Tibetans.
He said the rally should remind them that people all over the world were thinking of them.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
And to an isolated people like that to know that there are people around the world who care about them, who are their friends, who discuss their problems, who talk to their governments on their behalf. Whether it's here in the U-S, it's in Europe, it's with the European Union, it's with human right's congresses around the world, you have no idea what that means to them that they are not alone. And that is what this says to them. It says: Tibetans, you are not alone. You have friends.
SUPER CAPTION: Richard Gere, Actor
