From Civitavecchia cruise port to Rome
Civitavecchia-Rome-Civitavecchia (one day in Rome)
How to go to Rome (Colloseum) by train from Civitavecchia cruise port.
Last part of the video shows how to reach Civitavecchia cruise port from Rome.
Civitavecchia cruise port- free shuttle Largo della Pace- walk- Civitavecchia train station(€12) -Ostiense-walk- Piramide-Colloseo- Rome walking tour- Colloseo-Piramide-walk-Ostiense-Civitavecchia- bus (€2)- Largo della Pace- free shuttle service to cruise port.
Detailed description of the video:
□ Civitavecchia cruise port.
□ Take free shuttle bus service to Largo della Pace (Tourist information and service center in Civitavecchia)
□ Walk towards Civitavecchia train station. Get a real glimpse of Civitavecchia. It's actually a nice city to explore. A 30-minute walking tour in Civitavecchia didn't hurt our schedule.
□Buy ticket at the station. There's usually a long queu at the ticket booth. Head towards the kiosk within the train station (where they sell drinks and other small items) and buy BIRG ticket. They don't speak English, so no need to ask questions. Just get your BIRG tickets, €12 per person, valid for a day. Which means you can use the same ticket on your way back, plus you can use it in Rome, bus and Metro, without extra charge. Tickets need to be machine validated before boarding the train.
Or face penalty if you don't.
□Enjoy the train ride. It's faster than a bus. They have toilet facilities inside the train itself.
□Get off at Ostiense station
□Head towards Metro B by taking the underground passage connecting Ostiense and Piramide station at Metro Line.
□Use the same BIRG ticket in Piramide station. Enjoy a quick Metro ride until Colloseo.
□Get off at Colloseo station. This is the Colloseum in Rome.
□Enjoy your Rome tour.
FROM ROME TO CIVITAVECCHIA CRUISE PORT
□Walk back to Colloseum at around 14:00 (2PM) Max is 14:30.
□Metro ride from Colloseo station to Piramide station. Use the same BIRG ticket.
□Get off at Piramide station
□Find your way to Ostiense station. Ask someone for directions or simply get hold of a map if you're not sure.
□Pass the underground passage and walk towards Ostiense station.
□Train ride from Ostiense to Civitavecchia. Use the same BIRG ticket.
□Get off at Civitavecchia train station. Be prepared to wait. The train picks up passengers from each stop.
□Get off at Civitavecchia station.
□Take bus going to Largo della Pace. The bus is right outside the train station. €2 per person. Ticketing booth just nearby.
□Get off at Largo della Pace, Civitavecchia tourist service and information center.
□Get a free shuttle (bus) ride to the cruise port. The bus indicates the Cruise ship.
□There are two (2) stops. The bus stops first to drop new passengers with luggages for check-in. The next stop will be right in front of your cruise ship.
□Enjoy your cruise!

How to get to Ciampino airport!
This video looks at the best ways to get to Ciampino airport and my recommendation to arrive there. This is probably not the main airport you're going to be dealing with if you are arriving in Rome from outside the EU (or even in the EU). Most flights land in Fiumicino and me personally, I go to this airport when I fly within Europe, mainly the UK. Please note that the methods of transportation that I mention in this video work to and from Ciampino airport. Like any trip, getting to and from the airport takes careful planning and in my experience, it's worth it to pay for convenience.
Once again I speak about the taxis here in Rome and I feel that there needs to be lots of videos on them here on YT because in order to pay the right amount you need to be informed.
Check out this video for more info:
Aside from recommending the best options to get to and from Ciampino, the aim of this video was also to take public transportation to get there. I did, and you can see for yourself how it went! You'll also hear another recommendation in regards to planning your journey to and from the airport. I know Rome, so I hope you find my tips useful!

Civitavecchia, Rome - Embarkation Day Navigator of the Seas (Sunday, October 6th 2013)
All roads lead to Rome, so BIENVENIDO A ROMA!
We ended up being picked-up at the Fiumicino airport in Rome by local friends (Sunday morning, October 6th 2013).
Driving to the Embarkation Port of Civitavecchia was a breeze - almost one (1) hour, passing 2 or 3 tolls (paid € 2.50 EUR each time, as I recall).
We stopped at a Café in Italy's Civitavecchia -- few hours before the Embarkation aboard RCI cruise ship Navigator of the Seas!
Laid-back atmosphere, plenty of laughs, no frills and great conversation over drinks -- definitely one of the highlights of our European trip!
Our friends dropped us off at the Cruise Terminal around 1pm that Sunday, October 6th 2013.
(as seen in one picture, others came by BUS - or taxi from Rome - as a complementary RCI shuttle was made available from Civitavecchia Train Station to the Cruise Terminal)
The Cruise Terminal was dark and uninviting but Embarkation was quick - had priority (turned Emerald right before this trip)!
HUGE SURPRISE awaited us in the cabin (D3 balcony, FWD, deck 6; close to the elevators; Starboard) -- all decorations and the complimentary bottle of wine being provided by the Best TA at Sea, Ann Marie! : - ))
Must note our first WELCOME BACK Gift basket, including a complimentary (small) bottle of Evian water (from RCI loyalty program, C&A - being an Emerald member now).
By 4:30PM, we went to Deck 4 for the mandatory Emergency Muster Drill (that we attended for up to 15 minutes or so).
Then we went up to the Pool deck for the Sail-away celebration!
GREAT music by Tropical Jam (a trio from Colombia) !!!
It was a gorgeous day (around 30 Celsius degrees/ high 60s F)!
Viva I T A L I A !
