Oregon City Water Works Memaloose & S. Clackamas Explore
***Update***
The South Fork Water Line Exhibit is now open on the 2nd floor of the Clackamas County Historical Society. Located in Oregon City at 211 Tumwater Drive.
Lots of information and photos to view.

In 1915, a pipeline was built to send much needed drinking water to Oregon City and West Linn. The water was collected from Memaloose Creek, and later the South Fork of the Clackamas about 8½ miles SE of Estacada, Oregon. Decommissioned in 1985, some of the pipeline, artifacts, bridges, and several tunnels still remain as well as three major waterfalls--all within a ½-mile radius.
If you would like a Google Earth KML file I built that shows the semi-accurate locations of the roads, tunnels waterfalls, etc in this video, let me know and I can e-mail that to you.
Here are some links about the area you might find interesting--more to come:

12/11/12 Clackamas, Or - Clackamas Town Center Shooting
At 3:30 p.m. December 11, 2012 the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office responded to 911 calls of an active shooter at the Clackamas Town Center, 12000 SE 82nd Avenue, Happy Valley, Oregon, 97086. Initial reports stated a suspect armed with a rifle was shooting inside the mall.
CCSO responded quickly to the scene. Assisted by local city, state, and federal law enforcement, police entered the mall in search of the suspect.
As of 5:30 p.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was able to confirm that the suspect, identified as Jacob Tyler Roberts, age 22, of SE Portland, was deceased. At this point in the investigation, it appears that Roberts acted alone inside the mall, and died from a self-inflicted gun-shot wound.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is also able to confirm that two victims are deceased, Cindy Ann Yuille, age 54, of NE Portland and Steven Mathew Forsyth, age 45, of West Linn. A third victim, Kristina Shevchenkohas, age 15, was transported to a local trauma center. She was in serious condition at the time of transport.
Clackamas Fire Crews were dispatched to Clackamas Town Center. The initial response included one engine and an American Medical Response (AMR) Ambulance but was quickly upgraded due to the information being reported. Clackamas Fire ultimately went to a second alarm medical assignment which included 22 fire units along with several AMR Ambulances. Lifeflight one was also landed in the parking lot of the Town Center

Metal hazard removed from Clackamas River (Clackamas County Sheriff's Office)

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol is pleased to announce that a deteriorating piece of machinery that found its way into the Clackamas River was safely removed from the waterway on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010.
This large and extremely heavy piece of abandoned machinery had, over a long period of time, worked its way into a river channel an estimated one-half mile east of Barton Park in the Clackamas River.
Earlier this summer, at least two persons were injured while navigating this portion of the river.
Discovering this hazard, Sheriff's Office Marine personnel posted warning signs and alerted the community to the existing treacherous water hazard. Marine Deputies were also tasked with finding a reasonable method to remove this hazardous obstacle from the river.
Thanks to swift intervention provided by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Oregon State Marine Board, a prompt solution to the problem was found. These two organizations helped supervise the expedient removal of this river hazard.
Bill Erickson Construction was hired for the labor-intensive effort -- which involved removing this 20-foot-long heavy iron pump frame from the river channel.
Most significant was the generous funding of $4,200, provided by the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation -- which paid for the total removal of the river hazard.
Clackamas County Fire District #1 also participated on Thursday, Aug. 12 -- directing river traffic around the site early this morning while Erickson Construction wrestled with the removal of the metal monster from the river. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Erickson Construction made this ominous task look easy as they pulled the item from the river using heavy machinery and cables. No injuries were reported.
This piece of machinery is now destined to be cut into pieces and hauled from the site for recycling.
The Sheriff's Office thanks all those responsible for helping with this large-scale operation.
