This week we take a look at Balscadden Bay in Howth. Two local swimmers, Sarah Hamilton and Grace Newport, are showing us around.
Escape From Ireland Open Water Sea Swim 2015
This event is set in the stunning water of the fishing port of Howth, Co. Dublin, Ireland.
This is a challenging 1.9km Open Water Swim from the island of Ireland's Eye to the Claremont Beach, Howth, Co. Dublin. This is a swim event not to be missed by any sea swimmer. Over the last number of years this event has been hosted by healthpro and Outfront Events and this year is no different. On July 3rd weather permitting over 100 swimmers will again take to the Island and navigate their way back home to Claremont Beach, Howth.
Wetsuits are not compulsary but are advised.

Boat transfer to Ireland's Eye - 7.45 to 8.30am from Howth Yacht Club
Race start: 9am (on the beach of Ireland's Eye)
First Finishers ETA: 9.25 am (on the Claremont Beach, Howth, Co. Dublin)
Final Finishers ~10.10 am (on the Claremont Beach, Howth, Co. Dublin).

Escape from Ireland 2016 Swim Start
Close to 200 athletes take to the tidal waters of Howth Sound to swim from the Island of Ireland's Eye to the safe calm waters of the Claremont Beach. This event is part of the Howth Challenge Series hosted by healthpro and Outfront Events. This years event was proudly supported by Beshoff Bros and Kerrigans Craft Butchers as part of their food for fitness campaign. Can you be spotted????

Ireland's Eye from Burrow Beach Sutton
Ireland's Eye is a bird sanctuary off the coast of County Dublin. Large numbers of guillemots, terns, gannets, razorbills, cormorants and puffins nest around the shore. There is also a seal colony nearby. Boat trips to the island leave from Howth - April to September.
