father son ADVENTURE EXPEDITION TEAMBUILDING - Inland Kaikoura Ranges - clarence river New Zealand
We head into the Clarence Reserve on what was originally going to be a teambuilding expedition for Fathers and Sons. Due to the low river flow and long days, we didnt get to explore all the teambuilding options we originally planned, so we just chilled out and had an excellent adventure. Long days on the water, camping and cooking, hunting and exploring. It was a great trip and although we had a medical emergency mid trip it all ended well. Great memories and some solid bonding through adventure

Packrafting the Clarence River in New Zealand
In January 2014 Jen and I flew into Christchurch and then quickly drove up to Kaikoura. There we picked up a driver from a local rafting company who came with us to the start of the Clarence before driving our rental car back to their base at the end of the river. We spent four nights on the river and loved it (apart from the sandflies a few times). Music: The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build A Home

Into The Wild
Into The Wild follows 11-year-old Taya Morrison's journey as she rafts down New Zealand's Clarence River with her family, cousins, uncle and her dog Remi. Her trip takes seven days with six camps to cover the 180km of pristine backcountry wilderness as the river meanders from near Hanmer Springs to Clarence on the East Coast just north of Kaikoura. The three gorges on the river have each been affected by the M7.8 earthquake that stuck near Kaikoura in November 2016, making new rapids and a constantly changing riverbed just part of the fun. Add in a date with Cyclone Debbie and you have an adventure to remember.
Thanks to Clarence River Rafting's Ben Judge, GG and Libby for making this iconic Kiwi rite of passage so simple to organise. And the always welcoming people at Muzzle Station for inspiring us to take this journey.
Also, a huge thanks to singer songwriter Monty Bevins who lent us three of his amazing tracks for the film. montybevins.bandcamp.com
