Chinatown, Golden Buddha, Vegetarian Festival, Bangkok - Thailand 4K Travel Channel
Chinese traders were the first ones who settled in today's municipal area of Bangkok. The area where the grand Palace is today was once the center of the Chinese community. When King Rama I decided to build his new palace, he asked the traders to resettle. So they settled in the east of the new town. The Sampeng Lane, not even big enough for a car, was their new main road.
Today Chinatown is known as a gold trading center. Along Yaowarat Road you find a lot of gold shops.
One should not suffer from claustrophobia or agoraphobia (fear of crowd) if one dares to go into the little lanes with innumerable sales shops. All kinds of furniture, as well as clothes and jewelry are sold. However, the people are considerate and friendly.
At the end of Chinatown is Wat Traimit with the famous Golden Buddha.
The statue originally comes from Sukhothai and was manufactured in the 13th or 14th century. Probably, before Ayutthaya was taken by the Burmese, the statue was covered with a thick layer of plaster and decorated with glass stones in order to protect it from a robbery. When the new capital was founded, King Rama I had given orders to bring back many of the Buddha statues from the scattered ruins in the country to Bangkok.
The Golden Buddha came into the small and insignificant Wat Chotanaram. When the temple was completely abandoned, the Buddha was brought to the nearby Wat Traimit. In 1954 the Buddha should move into a new temple building, but something went wrong. Anyway, the layer of plaster burst and the Golden Buddha appeared.
The statue is more than 3 m high and weighs 5.5 tons. The base contains approx. 5% gold, the body of the statue approx. 40-80 % gold. The face mask weighs 45 kg and consists of 99% gold. The gold of the complete statue is valued at 250 million dollars.
Vegetarian Festival (Tesagan Gin Je) or Nine Emperor Gods Festival
The Vegetarian Festival in Bangkok takes place after the Chinese moon calendar within the first 9 days of the 9 month in September or October. In 2015, from 12th to 22nd October.
The celebration has its origin in Malaysia, Singapore and in Thailand. It was organized for the first time by foreign Chinese in Phuket. The festival is of Taoist origin and today also influenced by Hindu. In China this festival is unknown.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is A Bangkok, Thailand Highlight
I consider the Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok a must-see' whenever our visit coincides with a free Saturday or Sunday. It is one of my top Seven markets in the world and there is always something new to see.

I dare you to visit every section during one visit. Just can't be done and that's why you'll see us there on the next visit to Bangkok...

Thai Cave Rescue - Full Documentary HD
It was the story that gripped the world: 12 boys from a Thai soccer team and their coach were trapped in a flooded cave so deep underground rescue was almost impossible.
Then, as the world waited along with the boys' anxious families, a brave yet difficult plan was hatched to bring the members of the Wild Boars team out alive.
It would take skilled divers from countries including Australia and even then success was not guaranteed. Days were needed to bring out the boys and there was no guarantee all of them would make it out alive.
Graphics and maps were produced of how the boys dressed in wetsuits and flippers would swim in a buddy system tethered to expert divers up and down the treacherous subterranean labyrinth to the surface.
The boys' parents were told their sons would be swimming to safety and in the global joy which erupted after the last of the boys surfaced safe and alive, no-one questioned the method of their extraction.
But ABC Australia Southeast Asia correspondent Liam Cochrane says in his new book, The Cave, the boys were in fact drugged with ketamine and handcuffed on their journey out of the cave.
It was revealed during the rescue that the boys were mildly sedated to stop them panicking during the rescue, but the truth is more complex.
The boys received far stronger drugs, and they were handcuffed behind their backs to stop them ripping off their face mask should they wake up.
To calm nerves, the parents were told the boys were being taught how to dive and the media reported that each of them would be tethered to an air hose and then swim out with one rescue diver in front and another behind, Cochrane writes in his book.
Bangkok Thailand : This is where I stayed in 2010
Bangkok Thailand
Before you go to any country, you would probably ask this question to yourself and then you would do some research about it. I lived alone in a single room and it was not in the popular area either. I go could anywhere at any time even in midnight. There was no fear.
I was staying in an apartment room near Siam Square & National stadium BTS it was not on the main road it was well inside an alley... but it was a good location, as BTS (Sky Train) Station was at a walking distance.

Tokyo CAPSULE HOTEL Experience NIGHTMARE

Staying at a capsule hotel was one of the things I was looking forward to most when visiting Tokyo, Japan. Our experience staying at a capsule hotel was nothing like I expected it to be.
Please don't let this video stop you from staying at a capsule hotel next time you're in Tokyo! There are much nicer hotels, but messed up and went to the wrong capsule hotel! I found a nice one on Trip Advisor, but we put the wrong address into our maps and we ended up a super gross capsule hotel. We didn't realize we had checked into the wrong hotel until it was too late!
To stay at the capsule hotel you pay with a vending machine. We couldn't get our money back so we were stuck there for tonight. Unfortunately, they still allow smoking inside, so that didn't make our sleepless night any better. It was pretty much a nightmare experience, but we tried to make the most of it!
If you want to know what it's like to stay at a really gross capsule hotel in Tokyo, Japan check out this VLOG!
The capsules we stayed in were nothing like the capsules we saw in +Only In Tokyo's video - Tokyo Capsule Hotel Experience ★ WAO✦RYU!TV ONLY in JAPAN #26 東京カプセルホテル体験 -

Thai boys trapped in cave climb through replica
The group of boys who were trapped in a flooded cave in northern Chiang Rai province in Thailand in July climb through a replica tunnel at an exhibition to celebrate their dramatic rescue. The 12 members of the Wild Boars football team and their coach were trapped for more than two weeks with no food and no means of contacting the outside world. Psychologists had counseled that the boys after their rescue in July should be given a six-month respite from being pressed to recount their experience for the sake of their mental health. But Thailand's military government, eager to share the glory of the good-news story, has not taken their advice

Bangkok Condo finder July Roundup
Welcome to the Home Connect News. I’m Derren.
The attraction of shopping, especially in large, air-conditioned malls, a positive outlook on the telecommunications sector, and increasing Chinese interest in Thailand were among the key highlights of the past month.
Bangkok remains the centrepoint, but the imminent start of the Asean Economic Community means focus is also directed towards centres such as Chiang Rai, Tak, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan and Songkhla.
Tourism has proven to be the mainstay of the economic ship during the first half of this year and the retail industry is banking on this trend continuing well past the 31 December start date for the AEC.
Although the export sector has contracted by almost four percent in the first quarter of this year, the bright spot has been the surge in tourist numbers.
These numbers mean it is no real surprise that leading retail firms are prepared to invest quite substantial sums in building shopping malls. Prime retail locations in Bangkok, such as Ratchaprasong, Siam Square and Sukhumvit, are being consistently transformed by the retail sector.
Retail developers are expecting to add around 250,000 square metres of shopping space in the capital by the end of 2017.
A survey by the Bangkok Post earlier this year revealed that at least two million square metres of retail space is under development in tourist cities and border locations, from shopping malls to cash-and-carry stores, and hypermarkets to community malls.
The main centres for this rapid expansion include Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Rayong, Chonburi, and Mukdahan, as well as the city of Hat Yai in Songkhla province.
The telecom and technology-related company Forth Corporation has joined forces with Boon Rawd Brewery in a joint venture agreement to invest almost 200 million baht in the beverage-vending machine business. The machines will also be designed to permit users to top up phone credits and pay some bills.
Both companies acknowledge they may need to invest substantial sums over the coming years, the initial investment amount will be 200 million baht.
The tie-up with Boon Rawd Brewery is a win for the beverage distiller as it will increase that company’s distribution channels.
Over the last two years Thailand has watched as the Chinese have become one of the major foreign property investors in the country, with Colliers International Thailand recently claiming Chinese investors were the largest single group to pour money into Thailand in 2014. They were followed by investors from Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Colliers noted many Chinese preferred to join with a Thailand-based company or group and engage in a joint venture.
Bangkok is popular as an investment vehicle for the Chinese due to its continually expanding mass transit facilities and despite hefty price rises in land values the Chinese see prices as very competitive when compared with Hong Kong and Singapore.
According to CB Richard Ellis, many of their Chinese clients have invested in luxurious apartments in Thailand for use as second homes or as long-term investments.
