LIVE STREAM - Communion Service 6.30pm 15 Sept '19 from Jesmond Parish Church, Newcastle UK
Tonight Ryan Muir will be preaching on 'Dependence Despite Difficulties' from Psalm 57.
When decisions, disappointments, difficulties and disasters arise what is your immediate response? Is it to ignore the problem; to turn to entertainment or your phone, to solve the problem, or perhaps to seek help? Again and again we see that King David's response to extremely challenging decisions and difficulties is to depend on God in prayer. Let's learn from his example in Psalm 57.
Join us live every week for our Sunday evening service to praise God with music, talk to him in prayer and listen to his word explained.
Jesmond Parish Church is a large evangelical Anglican church in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. For more info see

The Gardens Bungalow ~ Abandoned & Doomed
Help to Date This Bungalow? 1950s, early 60s maybe? after my short explore, my later research turned up next to nothing on it's past, but a little on it's future, which is kind of what you would expect from today's profiteering developers. Info reads as the following: (Planning Applications for The Gardens.
Application received on 21 October 2015
Application validated on 11 November 2015
Consultation ended on 2 December 2015, Demolition of existing dwelling and associated out buildings. Erection of 2 no. blocks containing 10 flats with associated access, car parking, cycle storage, refuse storage and garden amenity.);
This property was once well hidden from view, but i'm sure it enjoyed some nice views before the surrounding tree's matured, looking at the past on google street view, from as far back as 2008 it was well hidden by the trees & shrubs up until around 2014/15 when the ground clearance commenced.
An internet property search describes the dwelling as a Bungalow, Freehold, 1 Bed, 1 Bath, 1 Recept, but i definitely went into 2 small bedrooms. The property really had few clues as to when it was built, or when it was vacated, The Bathroom suite is a salmon pink affair Twyford Advent model. Twyfords which were a pioneering historic company which were in business from (1680 to 1982) Contrary to popular legend, Sir Thomas Crapper did not invent the flush toilet. He was, however, in the forefront of the industry in the late 19th century. Other successful pioneers were Alexander Cumming, Joseph Bramah, George Jennings & Thomas William Twyford. A History of the Twyfords 1680-1982, is an interesting read in your w.c. with absolutely no toilet humor at all:)
The newspaper & comic strip on the bathroom floor can only tell us when the approx date the floor covering was last put down. Hägar the Horrible is the title and main character of an American comic strip created by cartoonist Dik Browne (1917–1989), and syndicated by King Features Syndicate. It first appeared in February 1973, and was an immediate success. Since Browne's retirement in 1988 (and subsequent death), his son Chris Browne has continued the strip. As of 2010, Hägar is distributed to 1,900 newspapers in 58 countries and translated into 13 languages. The strip is a caricature and loose interpretation of Viking Age Scandinavian life.
The Newspaper has a couple of what i think are sports related articles, Jerry Quarry or a younger boxing family relative? (the boxer counted out on a knockdown by Canadian George Chuvalo, at New York's Madison Square Gardens, but in Dec 12th 1969) In round 7 Quarry was knocked down by a left hook on the top of the head. He rose at the count of 3, but decided to take a knee to rest & recover, he got up at the count of 10 instead of 9 and referee Zach Clayton declared the fight over at 2:59. He said the crowd were so loud, he could not hear the count properly.
The other Roberts article could be Baseball (unlikely in the UK) Cricket maybe?
The Newspaper also has an article relating to the political scandal surrounding the Westland Helicopter company...in brief:) The Westland affair in 1985–86 was an episode in which the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her Defence Minister Michael Heseltine went public over a complex cabinet dispute with questions raised about integrity and which a senior official was not telling the truth. The argument was a result of differences of opinion as to the future of the British helicopter industry. Westland Helicopters, Britain's last helicopter manufacturer, was to be the subject of a rescue bid. While the Defence Secretary Heseltine favoured a European solution, integrating Westland and British Aerospace (BAe) with Italian (Agusta) and French companies, the Prime Minister and the Trade and Industry Secretary Leon Brittan wanted to see Westland merge with Sikorsky, an American company. It resulted in resignations in January 1986 by Heseltine and Brittan. The episode embarrassed the Conservative government of Margaret Thatcher in 1986 and damaged her reputation.
The loft space had little in it to help with the date, apart from a couple of boxes, one with the company name Burco on it, The Baby Burco Wash boiler is dated from 1950s onwards

Haunted Graveyards : The Ghost of Nan Scott
A site survey of the Haunted Graveyard. St Giles Church is located in the village of Holme, Nottinghamshire, England. It is a 13th Century construction and has witnessed most of England's history. St Giles is Haunted, both the Graveyard and inside the building itself. Haunted by a Ghost who is known by name - Nan Scott.
In 1666 when The Black Death was sweeping through the land, Nan Scott was a local woman who used to live in a small room above the church porch. This room is still there today and can be seen by the small window above the church entrance. When she heard The Black Death was nearby she fled Holme to avoid the horrific effects of the disease. The Black Death did indeed reach Holme and up to half of the population was struck down. Another version of the story says it killed everyone in Holme apart from one solitary survivor, apart from Nan herself. When she heard that so many of her neighbours were infected, with nobody to care for them, she risked her own life and returned back to Holme to offer what help she could. Either out of christian charity or just a care for her community. She went Plague House to Plague House, tending to the dying, and though she had no medicines to offer, she was able to provide a little comfort to those who were dying. Nan Scott was a kind, charitable, compassionate woman who thought of others before herself. One version of the legend says Nan Scott had a house in the village, and took shelter in the church when the plague arrived, watching as one by one, her neighbours were buried in the Graveyard before her, and that she offered no help. This is not true. Nan Scott tried to save her village.
This display of christian compassion did not seem to sway God, who might have decided to save her, but The Black Death did not care who it struck down. After helping so many other people, Nan Scott herself contracted the disease and died from its effects. She was buried in the Graveyard, with no Gravestone to mark her passing.
It is the Ghost of Nan Scott who Haunts the Graveyard of St Giles Church, as well as the small room above the porch. She is quite a famous Haunting, known locally as well as nationally. Her Ghost has been seen several times over the centuries. A peaceful, benign Haunting who inspires compassion and kindness in those who have seen her. Quite a rare Ghost in that she seems to notice the living, sometimes smiling kindly at the living.
Nan Scott was a good samaritan in life, peaceful, kind, gentle and compassionate. She remains so in death. Not a Ghost to fear. If you should ever see her Ghost, and she smiles at you - smile back ! She means you no harm and would do all she can to protect you. If ever a true example of pure christian kindness and pure christian bravery were ever needed - Nan Scott is it.

Fallen Army Ranger Sgt. Tanner Higgins Returns Home
April 23, 2012 Greenville, TX at 1100 hours the chartered plane, carrying the remains of Sgt. Tanner S. Higgins, arrived to a Heroes' Welcome. The family and friends were joined by local military active duty personnel, law enforcement agencies, fire and rescue departments, veteran groups, Patriot Guard Riders of North and East Texas.
After the plane disembarked a US flag draped wood coffin, family members gathered to welcome their loved one home and held hands while praying. Once the family was ready, members of the 1st Battalion Army Ranger Honor Guard conducted a dignified transfer on the tarmac from the plane to a waiting white hearse, flanked by a squad of US Army Ranger Honor Guard.
The procession was led by local police, fire & rescue trucks followed by 200 hundred motorcycles with members of the Patriot Guard Riders from North and East Texas. As the procession left the airfield the roads were lined by citizens from around the community of Greenville, and a short trip on an interstate highway to Sulphur Springs and finally ending in the town of Winnsboro. Along the route the roads were lined with local citizens displaying their respects and gratitude for the sacrifice made on their behalf. It was at times moving and touching.
Once the procession made its way to its final destination the honor guard conducted a dignified ceremony as the family and attendees gathered around the entrance to the funeral home where his family received guests.
Below is an article found on a local news web site:
They just said he went out on foot patrol, got in a fire fight, and was killed, Gerald Higgins said.
I knew there was a chance of this, but you never can quite prepare for it, Danny Higgins said.
In 2009, Tanner's mother quoted him in an article for the Sulphur Springs News Telegram.
It's not like the movies at all... It's actually very scary getting shot at and not knowing whether to stay put or move, he reportedly said.
The experience changed him.
It taught me I wasn't nearly as tough as I acted, but that I was a lot tougher than I thought, he said in the article.
The loss has overwhelmed his father.
Every few minutes I just start crying thinking I'm never gonna see him again, he said.
But Danny Higgins believes, serving his country is the only way his son would have wanted to go.
The Sinner in the Sanctuary - David Clayton
How does the ministry of Christ in the Sanctuary relate to those who believe in Him? How was this illustrated in the Sanctuary service?
THE SINNER IN THE SANCTUARY
A few - a couple of nights ago. Was it nights, or sometime.
A couple of days ago, Brother Ken shared some thoughts concerning the sanctuary,
and today, I'd like to maybe contribute a little bit to some of the things he said, and maybe add a few other things.
I know that the theme of this camp meeting is
‘The 'Foundations of Righteousness'
of the foundations...or the foundations of righteousness, I believe, are outlined in the Hebrew system of worship.
Symbol and type - yes, symbol and type.
We need to emphasize that, because sometimes that is not understood clearly enough, that it's symbol.
But at the same time it was designed by God himself.
And one of the things that is certain to impress us, as we look at the sanctuary; as we read carefully what God said about it
In fact the whole system of worship that was given in the Old Testament; one of the things that impresses us is the extreme detail.
It amazes me!

Sailor Killed at Pearl Harbor Gets Funeral
(10 Mar 2016) A sailor killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor has been buried with full military honors nearly 75 years later.
Petty Officer 1st Class Vernon Luke, a machinist's mate, of Green Bay, Wisconsin was laid to rest at a veterans cemetery in Honolulu on Wednesday.
The 43-year-old man died when Japanese planes bombed his battleship, the USS Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941.
After World War II, he was buried as an unknown along with nearly 400 other unidentified sailors and Marines from the battleship.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency last year dug up their remains, saying advances in forensic science and technology had made identification more feasible.
It disinterred 61 caskets at 45 grave sites at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, which is in an extinct volcanic crater commonly known as Punchbowl. Many coffins contained comingled remains of multiple people.
Luke was among the first five from the Oklahoma who was identified and whose family has been notified, agency spokeswoman Lt. Col. Holly Slaughter said. He is the first of the newly identified to be reburied, she said.
Sailors lifted the American flag that was draped on the casket and folded it. Rear Adm. John Fuller, Navy Region Hawaii commander, presented the flag to Luke's niece, Leeann Michalski.
Michalski and Marilyn Gardner, the widow of Luke's nephew, threw flower lei on top of the casket after workers lowered it into one of the gravesites that had been exhumed.
Luke was a common person doing uncommon things, and he made the ultimate sacrifice, Fuller said, calling him a hero.
A second sailor will be reburied at Punchbowl on March 18. Ensign Lewis Stockdale of Anaconda, Montana was 27 when he was killed in the Pearl Harbor attack. Altogether, 429 onboard the Oklahoma were killed. Only 35 were identified in the years immediately after. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency expects to identify 80 percent of the Oklahoma unknown within five years.
Military laboratories in Hawaii, Nebraska and Delaware have been studying the remains using dental records and DNA analysis.
Ray Emory was a sailor aboard the USS Honolulu when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Wednesday, he attended Luke's funeral.
For years Emory pushed the military to exhume and identify Oklahoma servicemen and those still missing from other battleships
Here it is 75 years after the attack and they're finally getting around to getting some of these people identified, said Emory, now 94. It's taken them a long time to do it.
More than 2,400 sailors, Marines and soldiers were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Oklahoma's casualties were second only to the USS Arizona, which lost 1,177 men.

Luke 16:19-17:37 - Skip Heitzig
As Jesus continued to talk to His disciples and the nearby Pharisees, He told them stories about the kingdom of heaven and warned those listening about their eternal fate. He also shared four basic things expected of those who follow Him. In this message, we're challenged to forgive freely, serve faithfully, live thankfully, and be prepared for Jesus' second coming.
This teaching is from our series 42 Luke - 2014 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.

Coleman Church Cemetery in Alachua County

Take a journey with me as I explore this old African-American cemetery located in the backwoods of Alachua County. Here is some history I learned about on the area: There was once a town there called Coleman. It was a town founded right after the civil war by recently freed blacks. The town had a church, stores and houses in the small community but it did not survive as later generations moved away. Lumber companies bought up the surrounding property and demolished the buildings but preserved the cemetery according to state law.

Places to see in ( Hassocks - UK )
Hassocks is a large village and civil parish in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England. Its name is believed to derive from the tufts of grass found in the surrounding fields. Located approximately 7 miles (11 km) north of Brighton, with a population of 7,667,[4] the area now occupied by Hassocks was just a collection of small houses and a coaching house until the 19th century, when work started on the London to Brighton railway. Hassocks until 2000 was just a postal district and prior to that the name of the railway station. The Parishes were Clayton and Keymer, it is believed that when the railway came in 1841 the Parish Councils were given the opportunity of naming the station. But they could not agree and eventually the directors of the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway gave up waiting and named the station Hassocks Gate themselves.
The area was colonised by the Romans and a Roman cemetery was found by Stonepound Crossroads. Modern Hassocks is thought to have stood at a Roman crossroads on the London to Brighton Way between Londinium Augusta (modern London) to Novus Portus (possibly modern Portslade) (running north-south) and the Greensand Way Roman road from modern Hardham to a north-south road at Barford Mills north of Lewes and possibly further to Pevensey. With the demise of the Roman Empire came an influx of Anglo-Saxons and the eventual reintroduction of stone buildings, such as the parish church of St. John the Baptist in the nearby village of Clayton, which is believed to have been built around the 11th Century.
The opening on 21 September 1841 of Hassocks Gate station (named after the nearby toll gate on the turnpike road to Brighton, but now known simply as Hassocks) on the London to Brighton railway saw the beginning of the village that we know today. South of the village the railway passes beneath the chalk escarpment of the South Downs through Clayton Tunnel, which at 6,777 feet (2,066 m) is the longest of the five tunnels on the railway.
Today Hassocks has a variety of independent shops including several cafes, specialist shops like the long established delicatessen, an optician, general hardware store & a couple of restaurants (Indian and Chinese) and a well-used community centre called Adastra Hall. In 2010 well known high street brands started to show an interest in the high street & modernisation of quaint old shops has seen the quirky give way to the corporate.
There is a Site of Special Scientific Interest within the parish. Clayton to Offham Escarpment, which stretches from Hassocks in the west, passing through many parishes including Ditchling, to Lewes in the East. This site is of biological importance due to its rare chalk grassland habitat along with its woodland and scrub. To the south of Hassocks is a small 7.12 hectares (17.6 acres) ancient woodland known as Butchers Wood. The wood is mainly oak and hazel with a large bluebell ground flora. It was acquired by the Woodland Trust in 1988. On the north-western edge of the village, on the London Road, is the Friars Oak, formerly a coaching inn, adjoining open meadows known as Friars Oak Fields.
Hassocks railway station serves the village. Thameslink and Southern provide regular train services to Brighton, London and Bedford. The station was rebuilt and redeveloped in 2013, the new main station building was opened on 5 July with the addition of lifts on both platforms completed by December 2013.
( Hassocks - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Hassocks . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Hassocks - UK
