First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach Review- Episode 91
If you get a chance, RVing at the First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach is well worth the time.
It is amazingly diverse with Cypress swamps, Spanish Moss, wildlife, miles and miles of walking and bike trails. But making it unique is the RV camping sites are right by the beach on Chesapeake Bay, adjacent to home of the US Joint Expeditionary Force training base. The beach is wide and clean and fantastic. Swim, kite surf, or just sit and watch all the Naval ships and amphibious training that seemed to go on every day.
This has to be one of the most diverse State Parks in the country. You feel like being in wilderness, yet are only minutes from major shopping areas in Virginia Beach.

Balcony Falls Campsite Review, James River VA
This was taken on a very windy day, please excuse the sound quality and shakiness!
I am standing below Big Cove Branch at the start of this video. The campsite in this review is actually just above Big Cove Branch. On farther exploration, we only found two more campsites downriver, one just below Big Cove Branch (as shown on the map) and one just above the falls. Both were small and rather trashy.
Coming out of the campsite shown in this video, turn right at the edge of the woods and follow a narrow trail into the woods about 20 feet down the beach. The trail roughly parallels the river, then turns right at the cliff and winds back to a GORGEOUS 30-foot waterfall with a deep pool at it's base. Definitely a must-see!
