BC Back Road Creek Fishing - The Hunt for Rainbows
The best fishing holes are the ones that no one goes to or knows about. If you can find a creek on a map book and don't hear anyone talk about it on a fishing forum then chances are there is very little pressure on that creek. If there are fish in there, they will bite at almost everything!
Note: All fish in this video were release unharmed

Adventure days
We spent a good portion of our summer and early fall exploring the hard to reach waters of North Idaho, Western Montana and Northeast Washington in search of wild trout. Sometimes we hit the lottery, finding numerous big bull trout and feisty cutthroat just waiting for a meal to be thrown their way, other times we struck out, driving miles of back roads only to find a seemingly fish-less river. It was all about the adventure, exploring new waters in the hope of something awesome. We managed to catch a few fish and have some good times exploring the best places on earth, enjoy Adventure Days!

Fishing BC Presents - Bull Trout Safari and Dry Fly Fishing in Fernie, BC
Paul Samycia, Elk River Guiding, has been guiding out of Fernie since 2001. His unique trips for bull trout in the “shoulder seasons” are increasingly popular and bring anglers to the local rivers at times when few people are there to be seen. The water is cold, the air is sometimes colder, the but the fishing for voracious bull trout can be smoking hot, as good as the summer opportunities for cutthroat trout on dry flies. “That’s the really cool part about these waters — the size of the fish we get to angle for.”

Getting to Pitt River hot springs is kinda like an adventure triathlon: you paddle a canoe, then bike, then swim (if you count soaking) in the hot spring. It is challenging to get to, but absolutely worth all the effort. Here is the video of our experience.
Thanks for watching!

WATER CYCLE | CHAPTER 1 - RIVER BIKEFISHING FOR STEELHEAD
Inspired by the 71% of the planet covered by water, Blackburn Design has created WATER CYCLE, a new film project.
In this first chapter, RIVER, we follow Brian Ohlen, an avid fisherman and hunter from Montana. Brian also has a passion for cycling and he combined the two by loading his waders, tackle and rod onto a bike, to go in search of Steelhead along the rivers on the Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico. The best Steelhead fishing happens to be in the dead of winter. Brian faced nearly constant rain, snow and ice for a chance to spend but a moment with one of these elusive creatures. Along the way, he found some beautiful quiet moments and the simple joys that life on a bike can bring.
Public access to rivers and streams is important. As Ohlen states in the film, “if we ever lost that access or lost our public lands, it would be the death of the West.” Blackburn has partnered with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers to bring attention to the continued need to preserve this access. If this is something that resonates with you, consider signing BHA’s pledge to protect public river access.

CREATIVE PROCESS
RIVER was directed by Dominic Gill of Encompass Films. In 2006 Dominic bought a tandem bicycle, a heavy video camera and a plane ticket to the northern tip of Alaska. From there he spent two years pedaling south, inviting random strangers to join him on his tandem as he documented the journey on video. In 2009 he helped create an award winning one hour special about his journey entitled 'Take A Seat', and subsequently wrote a book of the same title. Since then he has blossomed into a talented film maker, has always been a fine human being and is a natural fit for this project.
Brian Vernor, a noted film maker and photographer, is providing art direction for the entire project. Brian has long been a Blackburn collaborator and will be making certain that each story in the project has a distinct point of view, while still holding close to the overall theme and vision. Look for more talented film makers to create the upcoming chapters of WATER CYCLE.
Chris McNally provided the amazing illustrations. G.C. Johnson & Acoustic Labs created the score.

It's Heli fishing season in remote beautiful British Columbia Canada
I am a firm believer that the more remote place you fish, the better the fishing. This day we have the use of a helicopter to put us into a very remote place. A remote place full of Pink Salmon, a place that only we were fishing this day. At one point while flying over the Stream, I felt like a bird of prey Osprey. I caught myself looking into the River from above saying not enough fish there, or there, next and that spot is great put us down there please. If this sounds attractive to you then Heli fishing should be on your Bucket List.
Although the Pink Salmon run does not last forever and it only happens on odd years. It is closely followed by two other Salmon called Chum Salmon and Coho Salmon. These two Salmon visit the surrounding Rivers each and every year in good numbers. The Pink Salmon visit the Streams typically the 3rd week of July and wrap up Spawning by the end of September. Coho Salmon visit the rivers in September and wrap up their spawn by the end of December. The 3rd week of September you can count on seeing Chum Salmon in the Rivers and they finish up by the end of November.
Remote Streams such as the one above makes fly fishing as easy as taking food from a baby. The Streams are lined with Salmon and in some locations you would think that there was more Salmon than water. Typically, if you don't catch a Pink Salmon in 3 casts there is something wrong with your hook. Being a fly fishing guide has it's challenges, but in places like this it makes it all worth while. You'll go home covered in the Sweet smell of success and it will be hard to wipe the smile from your face. Let's not forget about the flight through the coastal mountains of BC, it's the icing on the cake.
Below I've included a short heli fishing video and a few more pictures of very happy clients. If you think this is something you would like to do then give us a call or email us. Hit us with your questions and let us customize a very special fishing adventure for you, your friends and family. I assure you that once you've had a taste of heli fishing you'll want nothing but more. We look forward to Heli Fishing with you,

Vampire Tigers - Chum Salmon fishing at it's best in British Columbia Canada
Last Fall the boys from Pemberton Fish Finder teamed up with Fill in The Blanks Studios to create a magical Salmon Fly Fishing video. In the Salmon fly fishing video we venture deep in to a remote part of British Columbia, Where water is gin clear and forests are lush. Where the cackling of Bald Eagles can be heard in the near distance and Black Bear tracks are evident on every shoreline.
When some kids find a mysterious old game system, the game that they play leads them into a world of mythical creatures and hidden treasures. In the forbidden waters of British Columbia lies a terrifying beast called the Vampire Tiger...aka the Chum Salmon. One of the most underrated, hardest fighting, interesting looking fish you'll ever encounter. Our fearless hunters tackle these beasts and stare them in the eyes...and gnarled teeth.
This fly fishing video is based on an 8 megabit gaming platform. The addition of lightning strikes and flame balls definitely adds to the video, giving it that late 90's authenticity. Player one is a well kept fly fisherman, while player two is a bit of a hair farmer. It's your a-typical city meets country clash that ends in an Epic duo of bent rods, reels screaming.
Below is the Fly fishing video that we are very proud to be part of. There is an immense amount of work that goes in to these videos, so make sure you click the like button and share with your friends. Enjoy the show!

Lake Temagami Lake Trout Fishing - Catch & Cook, Camp Poutine, and a New Honda 30!
#wildtrout #familycamping #catchandcook
Lake Temagami lake trout action camping with our new Honda 30 horse and Legend boat. Here, I show you two ways to clean and cook Trout, and we make a delicious lunch of poutine at camp. Our baby Wesley was along for the trip too and our dog Buck too. After a long drive on the lake, we found my cousin Brad and his wife Mary (she took the thumbnail pic) and Brad and I headed out in the new boat to catch some lakers. We used a Navionics app, a digital depth chart / GPS that works without cell reception to find the right depth. We were fishing 60' deep water most of the time and Brad lost two and boated one decent laker on our first night out.
The next day saw us take a long boat ride and then hike into Diamond Lake where none of us had been before. There wasn't a good place to hang out when we got there but the boat ride and a short walk in were nice. We returned to camp and Tori lead the charge with making lunch, Poutine! We cut up some potatoes and deep-fried them, adding cheese, salt, and hot gravy and mixing it all together into a cheesy, salty deliciousness.
Come evening, Brad and I went out for Lakers again. Brad was using lead core line and I was using a downrigger. A downrigger is basically a spool of wire with a cannonball on the end. attached to the cannonball is a clamp that your fishing line wedges into. The cannonball then hauls your fishing lone down with it and the downrigger will tell you how many feet of cable it lets out so you have an excellent gauge on how deep you are. When a fish bites, your line pulls out of the camp and you reel the fish in. On the second day, it was my turn to catch the fish and I brought in two small ones, likely about a pound or two each. They were excellent eating.
I share a great method to gut them that I call the Double Mouth Method. You basically make a slit on the bottom of the mouth after slitting the fish's gullet, and then you pull down to remove the gills, front fins and all the guts in one pull. You then scrape the bloodline off of the bottom of the spine and the fish is ready for the pan.
It was an awesome campsite that Brad and Mary had found and we enjoyed another great bonfire before turning in. The next afternoon, Tori and I packed up pushed off for the long boat ride back to where we parked our vehicle. It was a very successful trip in our new boat.
I was a little nervous as anyone might be with my family on a big lake in a used boat that I'd never driven before but the motor ran very well. I haven't done a ton of Lake Trout Fishing but I really enjoy it and I'm looking forward to doing more!

CHROME, the new film from Conservation Hawks, celebrates the joy and passion of fly fishing for steelhead while educating anglers on the looming threats of climate change and ocean acidification. The movie, which features Tom Rosenbauer of Orvis, Dylan Tomine of Patagonia, Hannah Belford of Damdochax River Lodge, Kate Taylor of Frigate Travel, Tim Romano of Field & Stream and Todd Tanner of Conservation Hawks, focuses on our responsibility to protect cold, clean waters, and to stand up for future generations of anglers.
