Lightroom Workshops Australia, August and September 2017! Melbourne, Sydney, Perth.
Join the invite list here: Hi guys! Daniel here. In August and September I’ll be running 3-6 Adobe Lightroom Workshops in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. This will be the first time since 2012 that I’ve run the workshops in person (as opposed to online only). I have a huge amount of new material to share with you! You’ll learn everything I know about professional photographic post production in one day.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name’s Daniel, I’m a photographer, founder of the djb photography school, I’ve been featured on the cover of National Geographic Traveller magazine, I’ve photographed weddings all over the world and ad campaigns for fashion labels around Australia.
Check out my work and join the invite list here:
Since 2007 I’ve spent my life learning about Adobe Lightroom. You will learn everything I currently know in one workshop, and most importantly – what I wish I knew when I started. You’ll learn how to use Lightroom to manage and organise all of your photographs, how to develop you RAW files with authenticity, and the four big mistakes I’ve made in my photography career. You’ll learn what NOT to do. You’ll also learn EXACTLY how to deconstruct each image in the slideshow above and use these same techniques on your own photographs.
You will be given my personal Lightroom preset which I apply to every single photograph I take. This is not something I’ve developed overnight, it’s be evolving since 2007. You will be shown how to use it on each individual image. There is no magic bullet one hit wonder preset. A preset is merely the first stage in my 6 stage development process.
Photographers will generally keep their post production techniques a secret. I call this the black box of photography. I’ll be revealing every single part of my workflow and development process, all of my secrets.
I’ve designed this workshop to give you results. Not only will it save you the time and effort that I’ve spent learning about post production, you’ll be taught HOW to learn photography using Lightroom. This workshop is not a user guide, it’s much more than that. If you’re after general information and “how to’s” – youtube is awesome. If you want results – I’ll teach you how to get them.
Who is this for?
Beginner and intermediate level photographers. I’ve personally designed this workshop to build your post production skills the right way, from the ground up. A fresh pair of eyes just means you wont have any bad habits! And you’ll be able avoid costly mistakes by learning from mine. The content in this workshop contains everything I wish I knew when I started digital photography.
Who is this NOT for?
If you’re already familiar with post production and have been using Lightroom for some time, this workshop is not for you. While I’m sure the content would give you a new perspective on post production, and probably plug a few gaps in your knowledge, you wouldn’t be getting the absolute most of out it. I much prefer my students to be open minded, engaged and motivated throughout the entire process rather than undertaking the workshop half heartedly.
Workshop Details:
$399 AUD per student. One day hands on workshop.
10 Students per class.
Melbourne – August 12 & 19, Sydney – August 26 & 27, Perth – September 2 & 3.

Landscape Photography Vlog, Blog, After a few days of heavy rain I took an early morning walk to shoot woodland photographs in a Gold Coast conservation park with the intention of photographing paper bark trees in a pond, leaving me photographically frustrated as the water level is low & filled with green algae.
Undeterred I continue on my quest to find other Woodland Photography in the conservation area, only to be heavily bitten by mosquitoes, in despite of this I do manage to get a couple of shots nothing for the landscape photography portfolio though…

Lost Parables
Sydney and Melbourne
The two largest cities in the country of Australia. And the continent of Australia (Nah, man...it’s called Meganesia) Mega what? (The continent is called Meganesia, man) Oh, ok. So yeah, the two largest cities on that continent...uh, and Oceania for that matter
However, Sydney’s (5.2 million) metropolitan area is slightly bigger than Melbourne’s (5 million)
The two cities are about 878 km or 546 miles from each other...about a 9-hour, fairly boring drive. Sydney is the capital of the state of New South Wales. Melbourne, the capital of the state of Victoria. Both are iconic, cosmopolitan, global cities, but tourists often have a difficult time deciding which one to visit. Well hopefully this video will help them choose.
According to the most recent Global Liveability Index, put out by The Economist each year, Melbourne is the second most liveable city in the world. Woah, good job, Melbourne. But Sydney’s not far behind. It’s the fifth. Hold up, Australia’s got three cities in the top 10? Geez. Maybe one reason why Melbourne is higher up on that list is because it’s cheaper to live there than in Sydney. It’s true. Just about everything is more expensive in Sydney.
As I said earlier, Sydney has a larger population, but Melbourne has been growing at a faster rate. At the current rates IT will be Australia’s largest city in about 20 to 30 years. More than 40% of all of Australia’s population lives in either the Sydney metro area or the Melbourne metro area. Despite being smaller, Melbourne has a much higher population density. Sydney does seem to have a faster pace about it. And it has more traffic.
Sydney is more culturally diverse. 43% of Sydney residents were born in another country, compared with 36% of Melbourne residents.

Whispers of Australia - Ormiston Gorge NT
Often I will begin a new series of work without initially realizing it.
It wasn't until the group workshop A Day with The Light Collective when Ricardo Da Cunha referred to his desire for his work to whisper quietly that two things dawned on me.
The first was that my work generally sits on the higher end of the decibel scale, nothing wrong with loud images and I will definitely continue to produce these when my soul desires.
The second was that I had recently begun creating a new series of quiet, peaceful, images, I find it funny the way my work often proceeds my awareness, my creativity seems to have a direct line to what my subconscious needs.
Here is the first photo in the series, I hope you enjoy :)
Ormiston Gorge NT
This is going to sound a bit odd, but, that's ok, we're all a bit odd right..... :)
The energy of Ormiston Gorge is so beautiful. I was all alone whilst capturing this photo yet (here is the odd bit) the energy of the landscape felt like a welcoming warm hug, you know the squeezy ones full of love you get from your favorite Auntie :)

Another reason people look to find it because there is Sydney's best waterfront promenade here. The first thing to greet people at the promenade are bizarre rocks. Continue past the rocky paths followed by the beautiful coastal scenery. A feeling like as if walking on the sea. Walk 1 hours without a break, but not even that long walk, there are landscapes to stop the pace throughout. There is a need plenty of time to catch. People on the beach one is playing with the dog. Dog is very large dog hagien said. Coogee Bondi Promenade is the place chosen by selection of Sydney's best tourist attractions in the global travel sites. Walkway passes through several small beautiful sandy beaches. It passes through the many large and wide rock. Go past the various aspects of this Coogee Beach Park beach emerges the destination. Coogee beach is a good place to find a quiet family than Bondi. At one end there are beaches saltwater pool. Packed full of waves in the pool the kids can enjoy swimming safely.
