Abandoned railroad tunnel in Indiana!! // Clifty Falls State Park
50 Hikes 50 States - Checking off INDIANA!
We spent the day at Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana. Madison is the cutest little town with this hidden gem of a state park! They have 8 trails, and we hiked trails 2, 5, and 7.
Trail 2 is in the bottom of Clifty Canyon holding Clifty Creek. We had fun cooling off in the water and hiking over the rocks.
Trail 5 holds a SUPER COOL tunnel that was originally blown out for a railroad, however the company went bankrupt. Now it's just left for people to explore in the dark!
Trail 7 leads to some really cool waterfalls!
Clifty Falls is so family and pet friendly and also includes an adorable inn for guests to stay overnight. They have a dining hall and a shop!
Happy Adventuring,

Extreme Weather
Hoosier's all across the state have had their metal tested thoroughly by temperatures in the upper 90's and triple digit heat indexes.
So far least 60 Hoosiers have had to be treated for heat related medical problems due to the extreme heat here. That's double the number during past periods of heat related extremes in the past.
At Falls Park here in Pendleton the lack of rain and high temperatures have are also quit noticeable. Some of the amounts of water in area streams, ponds and drinking water storage facilities are at record lows.
This is very evident by just looking at the amount of water flowing in Fall Creek at in Falls Park.
Several electric co-ops in northeast Indiana were under the threat of rolling blackouts Thursday night. Other area electric companies have asked customers to cut back on air-conditioning use and switch off unneeded lights. In Anderson, Indiana the city owned Light and Power Company warned its 33,000 customers to expect random power outages because of transformers overheating.
In Indianapolis the water company repeated its warnings for customers to stop watering their lawns and conserve water as the company said its ability to keep water flowing was nearing a breaking point.
Some area of Indiana got a long over due soaking earlier today.
What about the days to come? Today's forecast called for a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms and nearly steady temperatures in the mid 90s. Tomorrow is much the same. There's a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms with lows in the mid 70s and heat indexes of 99 to 104.
And unfortunately the news doesn't get much brighter. Some weather experts are saying there's no true break in this current pattern until august. And that's not good news. As it is, Hoosiers have already experienced one of worst heat waves in 70 years.
