Brief Story
This was day 2 in Bandhavgarh and it will still dark as we arrived at the entrance of the gate. We thought we had arrived first but there were few other vehicles who had out timed us. We submitted our documents for the safari and waited for the sun to rise. Vasundhara took opportunity of the mobile reception to check a few tiger facts. As the convoy of gyspy nudged into the forest, the change in topography was almost immediately evident. For a first timer, the tiger is the main attraction but soon one can discover the majestic bio-diversity of Bandhavgarh. The core area of this Tiger reserve is a well preserved rich forest tract in the Eastern Vindhya mountain range. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is massive expanse of big cat country, the core area of which is spread for over 700sq kms and then there is an additional 800sqkms of buffer surrounding it. From the bumpy ride of the rocky terrain we had now moved into the marshy grassland and could conveniently spot the chital going about their early morning graze. This is a favourite territory of the tiger as it hide within the tall grasses waiting to ambush any passing herbivore. Meandering through dense forest our trail now took us onto higher grounds. And in no time we were climbing the mountains on our trusty 4x4. The zone for tourists is spread only for 105 sqkms yet everywhere there are tell-tale signs of the tiger. Bandhavgarh boasts of one of the highest densities of tigers in the world and the tourism zone of this reserve is a rare sample of the wealth of India’s wildlife. The grasslands or meadows of Bandhavgarh are locally called “vah” and on our way to one we came across Bandhavi (the elephant calf) gleefully greeting the tourists. Bandhavi will be trained to patrol these forests with her mahut and keep close watch on the tigers activities. The grasslands or meadows of Bandhavgarh are locally called “vah” and along with the forests they act like a sponge and soaking up rainwater. This water is then slowly released into the porous sandstone. The water sources are thus recharged. Water is hence a treasure that is given to us by the forests. After some refreshing chai and delectable samosas at the breakfast point we hopped onto our gypsy and set out looking for Spotty and Mangu’s cubs. This trail brought us to a point of breath-taking panoraamic views of the Bandhavgarh hills. By now we were nearing the end of our safari and on our way back we were startled to find civilians casually strolling inside the national park. We were told that this was the annual PIL grimage of the followers of Kabir, a 15the century mystic poet who is believed to have spent his time in the majestic Bandhavgarh fort. With those profound words of wisdom, we left the park with a wealth of insights into the fraagile ecological balance of our wildlife reserves and the critical issues of conservation around them. And with that an amazing adventure to this jungle of Central India came to an end, as we huddled around a bonfire watching a film on saving our tigers. Thank for watching this video. If you liked our Jungle Vlog Series do comment below, share our message and subscribe to the channel. Until next time don’t forget to live life with a dash of adventure.
P.S We are very proud that this is so unlike the how the tigers in China's tiger farms are treated and subjected to the psychological torture by sending chasing drones into their territory.

Green Vine Snake at Tree House Hideaway | Bandhavgarh National Park
The green vine snake is diurnal and mildly venomous. The reptile normally feeds on frogs and lizards using its binocular vision to hunt. They are slow moving, relying on camouflaging as a vine in foliage. The snake expands its body when disturbed to show a black and white scale marking. Also, they may open their mouth in threat display and point their head in the direction of the perceived threat. There is a widespread myth in parts of southern India that the species uses its pointed head to blind its human victims.

Hill Climbing is Amazing and best time when its raining at Matar dev hills
Hill Climbing is Amazing and best time when its raining at Matar dev hills
Mathar Dev , a mountain of satpura hills in sarni at around 3000 ft high from base of town. Different track to Trekking on mathar Dev.
The Satpura Range is a range of hills in central India. The range rises in eastern Gujarat state near the Arabian Sea coast, running east through Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh. The range parallels the Vindhya Range to the north, and these two east-west ranges divide the Indo-Gangetic plain of northern India and Pakistan from the Deccan Plateau to the south. The Narmada River runs in the depression between the Satpura and Vindhya ranges, and draining the northern slope of the Satpura range and running west towards the Arabian Sea.
Captured this Beauty from less than 10 feet distance ( My Pench National Park Visit-22 may 2009)
Mind blowing moment as I captured this video..
A tigress and her 3 cubs were spotted by us in Pench National Park during my recent visit( May 22, 2009).
We were in a Gypsy and had heard that there was kill in the morning and that there were chances of us spotting the tigress.
we roamed around the forest looking out for it....and finally we got to hear the calls - special alarm sounds made by sambhars, cheetal or monkeys...
we waited patiently to witness which is a rare sight..
And the moment came...at a slight elevated rock, sat a Tigress...with a majestic look..
we were ecstatic at the view of it...
we got ready to capture it..in our memory..in our veins and in our cameras...
while we were watching her with all our focus...we saw her cubs roll over her and the scene became even more pleasurable!
Then things turned around..the tigress stood up! and started climbing down the rock...right towards us!
This was getting more exciting...and at the same time more chilling..
At about 20 feet from us.....we were open mouth stuck by the fact that a tigress stood in front of us..in the wild!
we were at the edge of the road..and the tigress across it...now the distance was only about 10 feet..as she cross us and the road...
For a moment it was like a dream! unbelievable and hard to gulp the fact!
She crossed the road and then went to the spot where the kill ( the wild boar) was...she then grabbed the kill and dragged it to a place behind the rocks..supposedly for hiding it from other animals..
after finishing this task..she then moved back towards the road..crossed it from a different point and climbed down the rocks to re unite with her cubs...
The entire description is captured in the video...enjoy the clip!
Cheers!
Niraj

The design of it, the architecture, that they've used local wood from the plantation. The rails are all made from the branches of the coffee trees that they've varnished and prepared themselves. I think to find anything like this would be, the effort that they have put into designing them and making them fit into the environment, it makes it very much more different.
12. SOUNDBITE (English): Emilia Brockoharsh, Tourist :
It's an opportunity to get up into the trees, to look at amazing views and with these tree houses to have complete luxury. So a lot of tree houses you can go, but there are little mice running around and you have to leave your cases at the bottom. A hotel in southern India is offering its guests the chance to spend the night up a tree.
But these are no ordinary tree houses - these tree top dwellings offer guests luxurious accommodation and fantastic views of Kerala's forests and valleys.
STORYLINE :
It's luxurious, eco-friendly, and it's as close to nature as you can get.
The tree houses at the Tranquil Resort in the Wayanad district in India's southern state of Kerala are aesthetically designed wooden cottages built in the trees at heights varying between 20 to 90 feet (7 - 27 metres) above the ground.
They can be accessed by a wooden suspension bridge leading up to the stairs that reach the house.
Local materials such as bamboo poles, coir mats, hay straw and tree pillars have been used to build the structure.
The tree houses have been modelled on the 'Erumadam' huts which are built by forest tribes to protect themselves from wild animals.

Gharials laze around at National Chambal Sanctuary
The gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) is a crocodilian of the family Gavialidae that is native to the Indian subcontinent and also called gavial and fish-eating crocodile. As the species has undergone both chronic long term and a rapid short-term declines it is listed as a Critically Endangered by IUCN. The gharial is one of three crocodilians native to India, apart from the mugger crocodile and the saltwater crocodile. It is one of the longest of all living crocodilians. Gharials once thrived in all the major river systems of the Indian subcontinent, spanning the rivers of its northern part from the Indus River in Pakistan across the Gangetic floodplain to the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar. Today, they are extinct in the Indus River, in the Brahmaputra of Bhutan and Bangladesh and in the Irrawaddy River. Their distribution is now limited to only 2% of their former range.
National Chambal Sanctuary, also called the National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary, is a 5,400 km2 (2,100 sq mi) tri-state protected area in northern India for the critically endangered gharial (small crocodiles), the red-crowned roof turtle and the endangered Ganges river dolphin. Located on the Chambal River near the tripoint of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, it was first declared in Madhya Pradesh in 1978 and now constitutes a long narrow eco-reserve co-administered by the three states. Within the sanctuary the pristine Chambal River cuts through mazes of ravines and hills with many sandy beaches. The sanctuary is protected under India's Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The sanctuary is administered by the Department of Forest under the Project Officer with headquarters at Morena, Madhya Pradesh.
The Critically endangered Gharial crocodile and the Red-crowned roof turtle live here, and together with the endangered Ganges River Dolphin are the keystone species of the sanctuary. Other large threatened inhabitants of the sanctuary include Muggar crocodile, Smooth-coated Otter, Striped Hyaena and Indian Wolf. Chambal supports 8 of the 26 rare turtle species found in India, including Indian narrow-headed softshell turtle, Three-striped roof turtle and Crowned river turtle. Other reptiles who live here are: Indian flapshell turtle, Soft Shell turtle, Indian roofed turtle, Indian tent turtle and Monitor lizard.
There are many nature watching opportunities available for the visitors to the National Chambal Sanctuary. The best opportunities for sighting and photography of Gharial and Dolphins can be had by hiring a boat with experienced driver and guide, available at several points along the river. A boat excursion will also offer many good viewpoints for photography of water and shore birds and unique landscapes. Walking trails in the ravines and along the river offer opportunities for close observation of the wide variety of plants and animals in the Sanctuary. There are public vehicle entry points to Chambal Sanctuary at Pinahat, Nandagon Ghat, Sehson and Bharch. Boating and visiting arrangements can be made with the help of the Wildlife Conservator Office, at Kota.
Visitors may explore Ater Fort, a beautiful but dilapidated landmark and historical site near Ater town, 35 km from Bhind. The fort was built by the Bhadauria kings Badan Singh, Maha Singh and Bakhat Singh in 1664-1698. The fort is situated on the banks of the Chambal River and can be reached by bus, jeep or boat.
There are Forest Rest Houses at Bah and Chakkar Nagar and Public Works Department Inspection Bungalows at Bah and Pinahat. There are several commercial hotels and Eco Lodges at Agra, Etawah and Bah.[3] The nearest airport is at Agra. The nearest railway station is at Agra. Agra and Mathura are major rail junctions with a number of trains from all over the country. Bharatpur, Ranthambhor National Park (with change at Bharatpur), Bandhavgarh National Park (Katni, Umaria) and Kanha National Park (Jabalpur) are all well serviced by the rail network from Agra.
