Film Location... Harry Potter played quidditch here, the opening scenes from Braveheart were filmed here and the movie Highlander used our estate for several set pieces.

Fort William cable car on the Nevis Range

High in the Highlands of Scotland near Fort William this cable car ride is a must for all visitors and tourist to experience the Nevis range mountains.
This cable car is fantastic for views of various mountains including Ben Nevis.
Britain's only mountain gondola will transport you to 650m on the slopes of Aonach Mor.
This is the only mountain gondola in the UK and is also host to Ceilidh theme events. At the top of the mountain is a restaurant with a bar, gift shop and mountain discovery centre.
It hosts a whole load of winter sports, which include skiing, walking, mountain biking, snow boarding, winter climbing and more.
Great place for groups, schools and even wedding parties.

LOVE ADVENTURE TRAVEL! Scotland - Indoor Ice climbing - Fort William

A short action video from my very first attempt at ice climbing during a Scottish winter meet with London Mountaineering Club in February 2017 - the Ice Factor climbing centre, Fort Wiliam, Scotland.

Last winter I had a pleasure to joint the London Mountaineering Club for a mountaineering/climbing meet in Scotland. Since 'Doris', the storm was giving us a taste of some 'fine' Scottish weather for the first days of our stay in Glen Coe, we decided to take advantage of the indoor ice climbing centre in near by Fort Wiliam. It was a first attempt at the ice climbing for most of us - much excitement. And indeed it turn out to be a great fun. I was particularly happy with the fact that I managed not to injure myself - three other members of the LMC gave the ice climbing a good go a day before us and unfortunately one of them was unlucky enough to leave his front teeth in the ice, after hitting himself with an ice axe... ah so painful! Just mentioned to warn whoever is planning to try this too. I do recommend the experience 100%. It is definitely much different from the rock or indoor climbing. I hope you enjoy the short video.

After falling in love with the Scottish winter, I took a trip on the Caledonian Sleeper with some friends up to Fort William to climb Ben Nevis by the CMD Arete. Blessed with the most incredible weather, we had one of the best days any of us have had in the mountains.

Things to do in Fort William

Undoubtedly Fort William is famed mostly as being the starting off point to climb Britain's highest mountain (1,345 m) Ben Nevis. But there are so other things to do in Fort William as well.

Going up the Ben can be a great day out especially when the weather is fine and the views of the surrounding mountains, sea lochs and glens are clearly in view.

This apart there are some other nice trips to be found in the area. Taking in Neptune's Staircase which is the start of the Caledonian Canal which leads to Loch Ness and Inverness town.

Or perhaps you might like to take a ride up on the mountain gondola to the neighbouring mountain of Aonach Mor. Whether you want to just enjoy the trip and take in the views or partake in some skiing or snow boarding, you’re sure to enjoy it.

A little further south there is the Corran Ferry that takes you across Loch Linnhe to Ardgour. This will allow you to explore a whole new area which you may well have passed many times on your route up north.

Take a trip on the stunning train trip and visit Mallaig which is still a working fishing port with its own little museum which explains the local story very well.

Perhaps even book yourselves and the kids on the Jacobite steam train they will love it as it travels over the Glenfinnan viaduct of Harry Potter fame.

The West Highland Museum could be a great place to visit if you want to learn a little more about the Jacobite's and Bonnie Prince Charlie.

There are other interesting topics to uncover in the museum even discovering how the local life functions around this area will entertain you. If you are in the Fort william area for a few days then this is one that you could tick off if the weather was not so good.
