Last weekend I checked another incredible place off of my Taiwan bucket list!
My classmates and I (totaling 18 people!!) took a trip to Hualien. We experienced some aboriginal culture, did DIYs, and hiked in Taroko National Park. It was a beautiful and buggy time!

I had been wanting to visit Hualien Taiwan for such a long time! It felt amazing to finally make it there and explore some of the things Hualien has to offer. I spent my first day in the Taroko Gorge in Hualien, which was amazing! You can watch my video of it here

TAIWAN Vlog/#4 Hello Hualien City
We made it to Beautiful Halien City on the east coast side of Taiwan. We grab a scooter and aimlessly explore finding the hidden beauty of this city. We found our self's getting attracted to the harbor and the near by beach beside the break water. Forrest and I can have fun doing anything even kicking around some beach rubbish as a ball.

Taroko National Park (2018) - Things to do in Hualien, Taiwan
Taroko National Park was the one place in Taiwan I was most excited about. We did the Qingshui Cliff, Qixingtan beach and a few trails in Taroko Gorge - Shakadan Trail, Swallow Grotto Trail, Lushui Trail and also saw the Eternal Shrine of Sunshine on the way and walked the suspension bridge.

In this vlog I take you around with me for a few nights in Eastern Taiwan, specifically the coastal cities of Hualien and Taitung.
Taroko National Park is just a bus ride from central Hualien, and visitors can enjoy all kinds of activities there like hiking, birdwatching, and more. Unfortunately I went during a typhoon, so I had to cut my hike on the Shakadong Trail a bit short!
Taitung is a bit farther south and has equally as amazing access to nature, with the Dulan Forest just to the North which is accessible by bus. I loved seeing the majestic Sansiantai Bridge in real life, and the various aboriginal sculptures and art installations seen all along the coast.

I finally made it to the Taroko National Park in Hualien Taiwan! I had been wanting to visit here for so long and finally made it! It was better than I expected. I wanted to challenge myself and do something unique in the park so I decided to hike the Zhuilu Old Road trail. This is one of the most beautiful and one of the most dangerous hikes in Taiwan! At the most narrow part of the hike there are no railings and the drop is 1,100 meters! If you are an adventurous person like me, then this is the hike for you! It's a must do when visiting Hualien Taiwan.

Sunrise in ALISHAN | EasyCard Fail, Bento Boxes, Belly Rubs & Kaohsiung Luck | 12 Days in Taiwan EP2
In this second episode, we hit the road and leave Taipei for the famous forests and mountains of Alishan before heading over to Taiwan's second largest city, Kaohsiung.
You never know what's going to happen when you're on the road and these few days are no exception. Just when I thought I had bought the right card for my wife, turns out it wasn't an EasyCard at all. icash2.0 didn't work on the bus we were taking up to Alishan and we learned the hard way. Once up in Alishan, we woke up ridiculously early for the sunrise and while it looked like it was going to happen, that ended up being a fail as well. Still, we had a great time hiking through the forest the reminded me a lot of Lord of the Rings (Entwood or Mirkwood, take your pick). When we finally made it to Kaohsiung, we were pleasantly surprised by a city that is much less hectic and crowded than Taipei. This allowed us to freely explore places like the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, and the super artsy Pier-2.

TAROKO NATIONAL PARK DAY TRIP FROM HUALIEN! | Taroko Vlog
Taroko National Park is Taiwan's most famous and popular National Parks. I stayed in the City of Hualien on the East of Taiwan for 2 nights and took a day trip to Taroko National Park.
It's popular to visit Taroko by Moped or Car but because I was travelling alone I decided to visit using the Public Bus.
I caught the bus at 8:30am in Hualien and headed straight to Taroko Visitor Centre. During my day in Taroko National Park I did 4 walks:
Shakadang Trail
Swallows Gorge
Heliu Camping to Lushui
Lushui to Tianxiang
I took the public bus between most of these trails too making the National Park much more accessible to a solo traveller in Taiwan like me!
I enjoyed the National Park, it wasn't the best day hiking I've ever had but I'm glad I got to see it. If I was to do it again I'd go on a moped or in a car with a group of people.
I stayed at World Inn Hostel in Hualien which I really liked and would recommend!

TAROKO NATIONAL PARK | Hualien, Taiwan
Taroko National Park is a huge attraction in Taiwan. I definitely wanted to check it out but I didn't have multiple days to do a lot of exploring and hiking. So, I opted for one of the tours that would take me through. I was able to see everything I wanted.
It's a beautiful place! If I ever go back to Taiwan, I hope to do some actual hiking in Taroko. I think it would be an amazing experience.

Day 1 of our East Coast Road Trip during Chinese New Year. We drove from Taipei to Hualien County stopping at many sights along the way. We went to Taroko Gorge, Hualien Night Market, Qi Xing Tan and ended off the night at Susan's grandparent's house for fireworks to celebrate Chinese New Year. 農曆新年期間東海岸公路之旅的第一天。我們從台北開車到花蓮縣，沿路停靠在許多景點。我們到過太魯閣峽谷、花蓮夜市、七星潭，然後在蘇珊的祖母家裡過夜、玩鞭炮、放煙火來慶祝歡度農曆新年。

After spending the night in Ruifang we caught train down the beautiful east coast of Taiwan to Hualien. The next day, we managed to rent a motorbike to explore the sights nearby, and let's be honest, Taiwan is amazing and especially the Hualien East coast!

48 hours in HUALIEN, TAIWAN - Exploring Taroko National Park!
Hualien was the second stop of our week-long Taiwan journey. I've never been here before but have always wanted to explore the magnificent gorges in Eastern Taiwan! We booked a private driver for a full day who took us all around Taroko National Park and to some other hot spots as well. The highlight of this mini trip was also the hotel that I booked.. IT WAS AMAZING. In Taiwan, many hotels like these are called bed and breakfasts, but this was far from one. We literally rented a 3-section villa by the beach with TWO bathtubs. Loved the fact that it was a teeny remote too. Anyways, enjoy the gorgeous scenery I saw! Hualien was absolutely breathtaking.
