Let's climb Illimani - 6450 m - Bolivia 4K
While backpacking in Bolivia, I decided to climb a cheap summit. Huayna Potosi seemed easy and too touristic. So I decided to try Illimani with a guide. But the first night, our guide asked us to go to the village nearby to meet his friends and family. He got drunk and didn't come back. We decided to keep going on our own.
I was shooting with a Gopro 5 and a Karma grip.

Bolivia 2017- La Paz and Chacaltaya
Arrival in La Paz and tour of mount Chacaltaya. Chacaltaya is a must if you're visiting La Paz because you can drive to the summit hut at over 17,000 feet. Many tour guides will take you there on a day trip.
A lot of people visit Bolivia for the climbing opportunities, such as Huayna Potosi or Illimani. If climbing is your objective, then a good acclimation is required. That's why Chacaltaya is a fantastic hike.

Death Road Biking Tour in La Paz - Bolivia | Altitude Travel
The Death Road is one of the most unique activities Bolivia has to offer. Book Now:
Where else in the world can you cycle from snow-covered Andean Mountains all the way down to the entrance of the amazon jungle in a just a few hours? Internationally known for being the highlight of one’s trip when in South America, this exciting bike ride exposes some of Bolivia’s most breath-taking landscapes, beautiful mountains and sparkling waterfalls.
The Death Road, or “Camino de la Muerte” in Spanish, was cut on the side of the Cordillera Oriental Mountain chain in the 1930s and stretches for about 70km from La Paz to Coroico, connecting the Yungas(an ecoregion of the Amazon rain forest northeast of La Paz) to the administrative capital. From La Paz, the road climbs to around 4700 meters above sea level (over 15 thousand feet) at La Cumbre–in the Altiplano highlands- before descending to 1300 meters (4 thousand feet) to the Yungas, allowing travelers to experience an incredible change in both temperature and landscapes.
Surrounded by mountainous terrain and high precipices, the road gained its fame and name due to its danger and adrenaline-rush potential. In the 2000s, the modernization of the road and construction of an alternative one diverted the traffic and allowed for more safe conditions. Nowadays, this electrifying activity is suitable for both confident beginners and experienced mountain bikers of all ages.
As one of the highest ranked biking operators in Bolivia, at Altitude Biking we pride ourselves on providing the best in security, professionalism and fun. Our service includes safe vehicles, best-quality equipment and bikes, highly skilled English speaking tour guides 1 every 5 passengers, trained in Advanced First Aid, Mechanics and Rope Rescue- and fast contingency plans in place for any occurrence. From the Andes to the Jungle, we designed a package that will allow you to experience this incredible adrenaline-pumping activity in total security, while guaranteeing an incomparable life experience.

La Paz Bolivia Chacaltaya Mountain and Valle de la Luna
Chacaltaya (Aymara for cold road) is a mountain in the Cordillera Real, one of the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Oriental, itself a range of the Bolivian Andes. Its elevation is 5,421 meters (17,785 ft). Chacaltaya's glacier — which was as old as 18,000 years — had an area of 0.22 km2 (0.085 sq mi) in 1940, which had been reduced to 0.01 km2 (0.0039 sq mi) in 2007 and was completely gone by 2009.[1][2][3] Half of the meltdown, as measured by volume, took place before 1980.[4] The final meltdown after 1980, due to missing precipitation and the warm phase of El Niño, resulted in the glacier's disappearance in 2009. The glacier was formerly one of the highest in South America, located about 30 kilometers (19 mi) from La Paz, near Huayna Potosí mountain.
Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) is situated about 10 kilometers from downtown La Paz, in the Pedro Domingo Murillo Province, La Paz Department, Bolivia. It comprises an area where erosion has worn away the majority of a mountain, composed primarily of clay rather than rock, leaving tall spires. It is similar to another zone of La Paz that is known as El Valle de las Animas (The Valley of the Souls). It[clarification needed] is an important site of the famous holiday, Dias de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

This 6088m giant, can be climbed without any technical climbing experience. So it can classified as a beginner mountin climb...however this monster was no joke. I do recommend it for everyone who's relatively physically fit, however prepare yourself first by acclimatizing longer than I did.

Cholitas Climb Illimani Mountain In Bolivia
Two years ago, a group of cholita climbers embarked on an adventure to climb eight Bolivian mountains. Many worked as porters and cooks with their tour-guide husbands, but now they're doing it on their own. Once discriminated against, cholas, or cholitas, are making a resurgence in modern Bolivian culture.

Landon Stroud & Ben Mauze - Trail Ayma La Paz Bolivia DH Mtb.mp4
Whilst in South America I met up with Ben Mauze and Travis from Andean Epics. These guys sorted out the best 3 days of riding in my life. This was one of the trails. Ayma in Bolivia.
Looking back, it was very exposed and super technical. Was a real feat to do this track. I only got one shot at it, so everything I hit was blind. Ben absolutely shredded the track and left me behind in a lot of sections. This is probably to most exposed technical riding I have done.
Big thanks to Ben for being the raddest guide, Travis for making it happen and Gus for hooking me up his personal bike.

Bolivian Commuters Soar Through The Sky
The world's biggest urban gondola system, known as Mi Teleférico, opened in La Paz, Bolivia, in May 2014. The 6-mile-long system is an engineering feat. It's the highest and longest urban gondola in the world. La Paz is the only city to use such a system as the backbone of its public transportation.

Title: Climbing Huayna Potosi (20k feet)
Entry preview:
My next adventure was to climb Huayna Potosi, a 20,000 foot snow-capped mountain that towers over La Paz. Well, technically, it's 19,968 feet high - but there was a lot of snow on top of the peak, so we think we were at least 20,000 feet. The ascent can be done in two or three days; I chose three which is the safer option, giving me more time to acclimatize. The first day, my guide and I were driven to the base camp at 15,500 feet where we set up camp, had some lunch, and then hiked up 16,500 ...
