Descending from Changla Pass towards Pangong Lake | Leh - Ladakh Tour
Descending from Changla Pass towards Pangong Lake. The Chang La (also known as Changla) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 5.360 meters (17,590ft) above the sea level, located in Ladakh, India. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of the country.
The descent from Chang La towards Tangtse or Darbuk is very steep also the climb from leh side is very steep and requires a careful drive. The stretch of 10-15 km road on either side from Chang la is loose dirt and slush. During the summer months specifically the tourist season, small streams appear across the road, making the climb/ descent a challenge for the bikers.
The pass, guarded and maintained by the Indian Army (due its proximity to Chinese border), it’s covered with snow throughout the year.
This road is usually open all year, but it can be closed anytime when the access is not cleared of snow. The place is famous for its scenic and serene natural beauty which attracts tourists from all around the world. The nearest settlement to this place is the little hamlet of Tangste. It is the main gateway for the Changthang plateau situated in the Himalayas.
These high altitude passes are one of the reason why road trip to Ladakh is a preferred mode of Ladakh trip. Crossing these passes with snow-capped peaks, barren landscape and view of undulating valley add to the adventure of Leh Ladakh travel. One must cross Changla Pass to reach famous Pangong Lake (Pangong Lake), one of the largest high altitude lakes in India. The pass is located on the 134 km-long (83 mi) road between the Pangong Lake and Leh.

Episode 12: This is one of our Greatest Works. We have literally shown the Entire Route to Pangong Tso from Leh. We will cross the Deadly Changla Pass in this Vlog. This is a Complete tour of the area & it has got all the details. The level is going to go up from here. Fasten your seat belts because the second half of our Ladakh Trip is going to be the greatest adventure one can take, so hop on with us on this Amazing adventure which is going to take a Complete turn from now. The trips Starts Now.
The Chang La (elevation 5,360 m or 17,590 ft) is a high mountain pass in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, India. It is claimed to be the second highest motor-able road in the world (the highest are either the Marsimik La or Mana Pass). Chang La is approached from Leh via Kharu and Sakti village by an asphalt road. The climb is very steep and requires a careful drive. The stretch of 10-15 km road on either side from Chang la is loose dirt and slush. During the summer months specifically the tourist season, small streams appear across the road, making the climb a challenge for the bikers. The descent from Chang La towards Tangtse or Darbuk is again very steep. As per the medics, it is advisable to not stay at the top for more than 20-25 mins as it could be detrimental to health owing to its high altitude.
The Chang La is on the route to Pangong Lake from Leh. The name literally means Northern Pass (Chang = north, La = Pass). The small town of Tangste is the nearest settlement. The Changla Pass is the main gateway for the Changthang Plateau situated in the Himalayas. The nomadic tribes of the region are collectively known as the Changpa or Chang-pa. The world’s highest research station, established by the Defence Research and Development Organisation is functional in Chang La at a height of 17,664 ft.
Pangong Tso, Tibetan for high grassland lake, also referred to as Pangong Lake, is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). It is 134 km (83 mi) long and extends from India to the Tibetan Autonomous Region, China. Approximately 60% of the length of the lake lies within the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The lake is 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. All together it covers 604 km2. During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water. It is not a part of the Indus river basin area and geographically a separate landlocked river basin.
The lake is in the process of being identified under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance. This will be the first trans-boundary wetland in South Asia under the convention.
A pilgrimage for every rider. Ladakh is a destination that every traveler has on its list. The difficult roads, getting stuck in Manali traffic for hours, standing hours in the que to pass Khardungla, waiting in line for that one mandatory picture on every pass on the land of high passes and many more memories that a traveler to ladakh carries with him. Bikers eagerly wait for the news of leh manali highway getting open every year. The craze of going ladakh cannot be seized by one and every year more and more tourist check off Ladakh from their bucket list to visit back again. We being our traveler self witnessed all this and carried all the memories in our heart and came back with a promise to show you Ladakh like never before. The series is going to be epic. So gear up everyone because we have arrived with the dream ride,
THE LAND OF HIGH PASSES.
Route: Delhi - Srinagar - Kargil - Leh - Manali - Delhi.
Ladakh (land of high passes) is a region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir and its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture.
The largest town in Ladakh is Leh, followed by Kargil. The government of Jammu and Kashmir created a separate administrative division from Kashmir division with headquarters on rotational basis 6month(summer) in kargil and 6month in leh(winter) Tibetan Buddhists (39.7%) and Hindus (12.1%) collectively represent the majority of the population while a plurality of Ladakhis (46.4%) are Muslims (mainly Shia).

Zoji-la Pass, Srinagar - Leh Highway 1D, Ladakh
Leaving Sonamarg behind and climbing higher elevation for around 9 km, in early summer one encounters snow piled up on both sides of the road. At elevation of 11,576', at Zoji-la pass vehicles invariably take a break for the tourists to spend some time amidst the snow-filled mountains. In winter the pass closes because of excessive snow-fall and around mid-April BRO clear the pass for the road traffic from Srinagar to Leh along Highway 1D to resume. My travel story on the journey from Sonamarg to Kargil including Zoji-la can be accessed by taking the following link:

A Journey from Delhi – Patnitop -Sonamarg – Kargil – Leh – Nubra Valley – Pangong Lake – Leh – Sonamarg - Patnitop - Delhi (3300 Kms)
Certain trips make a lasting impression on our lives and leave one wanting for more; for me, it’s my road trip from Delhi to Ladakh via Sonamarg and Kargil. Recently, I went on a 3300 km journey from Delhi to Ladakh and then back to Delhi in 14 days. This trip was planned for two reasons, first one is to experience the beauty of the nature closely and Ladakh can be the most recommended place for the same and secondly wanted to check the toughness and sustainability of my car “Maruti Suzuki NEXA Sx4 S-Cross (2017 model) on these extreme condition roads.
Through this vlog, I would like to share some videos to give you a clear idea about the condition of roads and all important places you can see during the journey. Also, I will be sharing some travel trips, which could help you to brave this challenging and one of the most beautiful driving tour in India (may be in the world also). Check out the vlog and plan your trip.
This is the intro of my entire trip a glance for your eyes. You can subscribe my channel for upcoming videos to more about this journey on Sx4 S-Cross road trip to Leh Ladakh.

Problems in Pulsar 200 NS! Manali to Leh ladakh Road Trip | Part 2 | Sarchu To Leh
Continuing on the Manali-Leh ladkah bike road trip for the second day was difficult. I had a stay in Sarchu. My pulsar 200ns had so many problems before tanglang la, that I almost gave up!
I could feel my body giving in to the difficult circumstances. The issues with my pulsar 200 NS increased and I could do nothing.
While climbing for tanglang la, my body gave up and I started shouting. The pain became the medicine, once the snowfall started!
With a faulty spark plug, comes many problems!
This video is one of the best adventures I ever had! Hope you enjoy!

Rode a JAWA 42 in LADAKH: Khardung La
#Jawa #JawaFortyTwo #Ladakh
What are the Jawa bikes like? Do they ride well? Can you take the Jawa on a long ride? Will it be able to handle the bad roads in the mountains? Can a Jawa ride through Ladakh?
These are just some of the questions that many Indian motorcyclists have had on their minds since the Jawa brand of motorcycles was revived in India sometime in 2018.
About two weeks ago, Jawa invited me to join them on their first ride through Ladakh. I landed in Leh and joined some other riders from around the country on an expedition through some of the most scenic routes in Ladakh on the Jawa bikes - the Jawa Jawa, the Forty Two and some custom built scramblers. This, to me, was a fun way to go about the process of discovering answers to some of those questions I mentioned above.
In these videos, I share the story of where all we went and what all we did on the Jawa #IbexTrail2019 in Ladakh. My experiences with the bikes will form a part of the narrative, of course. I hope you enjoy the watch.
