HIKING THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS :: IMLIL VALLEY, MOROCCO
we decided to do this airbnb experience hike to the Atlas Mountains + Imlil Valley. We hiked up to the waterfall and then hiked to a berber village for a homemade organic lunch. I HIGHLY recommend this day trip with Mohammed + Wassim -- they were incredibly sweet and made the trip even better.

???????? Climbing mount Toubkal (Morocco): travel documentary
#Toubkal #Morocco #Travel
This time we travel to Morocco. With Engel and Ricardo, we climbed Mount Toubkal. With its 4,167mt, is the highest peak in North Africa. From the top, we experienced amazing views of the Atlas mountains. The documentary tells how the 2-day trek was organized and how difficult is to get to the top. Everyone can do it, but need to be prepared for a trek that is technically easy, but challenging from a physical standpoint. All started in the village of Imlil, at 1,750mt. The first day was easy, it took 6 hours, including long stop for lunch and filming,to reach the base camp at 3,200mt. We got there just in time before it started raining. The day after we woke up at 4am to start acending. It was a strenuous walk uphill, with a cold wind blowing and the sun coming out as we were approaching the top. After having enjoyed the view from the peak, we started descending. We took a de-tour to nearby mount Tibherine (3,880mt) to see the debris of a plane that crashed here in 1969. Apparently it was a cargo plane that was bringing ammunition to the Government of Biafra during the Nigerian civil war. As we descend to the valley, we got a small injury which forced one of us to finish the last few miles on a mule

TRIP TO ATLAS MOUNTAINS MOROCCO - OURIKA VALLEY & Asni Valley
This video is about a day trip to the Atlas Mountains Morocco from Marrakech. A road trip to base of Atlas Mountains ending at the Ourika Valley. We eat Berber Tagine along the Ourika River and make lots of stops along the way... There are lots of day trips you can take from Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains is a popular ones. On this day trip to Atlas Mountains from Marrakech, Morocco we also stop at Lake Takerkoust, Asni Valley and the Ourika Valley. While in the Ourika Valley we had lunch along the Ourika River, highly recommended.
Lake Takerkoust is a manmade lake built to supply water to Marrakech as well as water for agriculture in the neighbouring valleys. It was meant to look natural and if you didn't know it was manmade, you'd never guess it. It's now a big vacation spot for people in Marrakech offering all sorts of water activities and outdoor activities as well.
Asni Valley was a bit of a drive through, it was beautiful and scenic. There was a small village we drove through but never really stopped so can't say much. The Ourika Valley was cool and the river was line with restaurants serving good Moroccan food. We stopped at one which was clearly where all the tour operators drop their people off ha. It was cool but would have preferred some random one along the way. We had Berber tagine of course and it was delicious.
After lunch we basically made our way back to Marrakech as the day trip to Atlas Mountains was over. We were also spent, tired and very full from lunch.
Experience Morocco: Hiking and Trekking
If you’ve always dreamed of exploring Morocco, you may not know where to start. After all, Morocco is a country for those seeking to reconnect with nature, relax by a pool, or dive into bustling markets alike. However, anyone planning a trip to Morocco needs to consider adding the Atlas Mountains to their itinerary.
The Atlas Mountains are actually a series of mountain ranges. These peaks extend across Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, and hiking or trekking in them is a treat, no matter what your experience or ability. Exploring this area means everything from hiking steep cliffs to wandering alongside streams and rivers.
Those adventurers lucky enough to explore this region in Morocco have the opportunity to climb to the Atlas Mountains’ highest peak: Toubkal. Located in Toubkal National Park, the highest point reaches a height of 4,167 metres. Climb with assistance from local porters, join a group tour, or attempt to discover the Atlas Mountains on your own. The satisfaction of reaching the top is almost as incredible as the views you’ll find there.
The area surrounding Morocco’s Atlas Mountains includes the Sahara Desert: not to be missed by anyone travelling to Morocco. Explore the area on foot, or, if you’re feeling daring, try a guided camel ride and do things the old-fashioned way. It’s a must for anyone who’s ever dreamed of visiting this north-African gem.
If Morocco is next on your list, or even if you’re just dreaming of endless desert and gorgeous views, we hope this video can give you a bit of a taste of what Morocco’s Atlas Mountains have to offer. If you simply can’t wait to explore these historic and gorgeous cities, you know what to do: it’s time to plan your trip to Morocco.

Rock Climbing Morocco - Todra Gorge
#Rock #Climbing #Morocco - Todra Gorge
Read full article here: - Facebook page:
Todra Gorge is known internationally for being one of the premier climbing destinations in Morocco. Located in the south east of the country at the edge of the high Atlas mountains. It will take you about 7 hours drive east of Marrakech to get there, you will cross the Tizi n Tishka pass which is the highest pass in North Africa. Then you will pass through Ouarzazate (Nicknamed Hollywood of Africa for its Movie studios). Then finally you will reach the city called Tinghir (or Tinerhir as some call it) that's where the gorge are.
This fascinating climbing spot offers variety of routes of extreme sport and multi-pitch climbing routes on solid, reddish limestone. the area is not only great for mountain and rock climbing, it is also an amazing cultural adventure, that's what makes it unique from other climbing regions in the Mediterranean area.
So if you want the best combination between rock climbing, cultural exploration and adventure, then todra gorge is the answer, it hosts hundreds of amateur of all kind of climbing throughout the year. There are several hotels, guest houses, and even riads there, from low budget to midrange. the road is pretty much well maintained in most parts, there are even shops nearby where you can rent ropes and all kind of gears you will need to climb the mountains.
The wall of Todra gorge are between 200 and 300 hundred meters (more than 600 ft)

MOROCCO - HIKING IN THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS & MEETING THE BERBERS
On our first full day in Marrakesh, Morocco, Katie and I visited the Atlas Mountains (hiking in the atlas mountains) to see how some of the Berbers live traditionally and have tea with one of the many families that opened their homes to show their way of life (meeting the berbers).
We also visited the Ourika Valley and Setti Fatma to meet the people and hike through the mountains to see a waterfall where they spend many days relaxing in the cooler temperatures of the summer heat.
It was an amazing day visiting the cultural history of the country, exploring outside of the tourist centers in Marrakech and Fez.
Check back for more on Marrakesh up next! Then we're on to Fes!

On our new mountain bike tour Morocco you’ll mountain bike through the heart of the dry and rugged Atlas mountains, ever in the shadow of the formidable Toubkal mountain, climbing and traversing high mountain passes, descending sparse mountain singletrack to lush valley floors, punctuating each segment with mint tea and a mind bending blend of culture.
During our mtb tour in the Atlas mountains of Morocco, we’ll ride on a point to point route that will see us cover centuries old Berber trade routes that crisscross this landscape, walked in by generations of traders and their mules to craft impeccable singletrack heaven for mountain bikers. And we will employ the services of these traders and mules to move our bikes to our highest pass of tour at 3600 meters
