Colombia Trike Tour: San Gil to Bucaramanga
I had very different experiences on these rides. I tried to take a bus out of San Gil but it was full. The manager of a 'hotel' I made a reservation at called buddies who have a delivery business and they, eventually, delivered my trike and bags. It was a hard wait but then all was right with the world. I rode through the Cañon de Chicamocha which is absolutely gorgeous dropping about 4,000 ft to a river and then climbing out another 2500. I splurged for a fabulous room at the Holiday Inn that had an incredible view of downtown Bucaramanga. What do you think of my new hair?

Colombia Trike Tour - San Alberto to Aguachica
It has been over a month since leaving Bogotá and I'm done with the mountains, woohoo!! The mountains were incredibly beautiful but the riding was slow with all the climbing. It feels great to be riding on flatter terrain. The mountains are the part of this tour that I was most nervous about. Now I feel like I'm on vacation. I also talk about my safety in this video.

Colombia Trike Tour - Villa de Leyva to Barbosa
I crossed from Boyacá into the Santander Department riding from Villa de Leyva to Barbosa. This was another incredibly beautiful ride with a lot of climbing. I took a smaller road instead of the main highway. Mostly the road was paved and very smooth but there were places where the rains had washed the asphalt away. Barbosa is known for a special candy called Bocadillo. It is a soft candy made from various fruits, lots of sugar and sometimes milk is added.
