Clough Motte and Bailey
Clough is the site of an Anglo-Norman Motte-and-bailey earth work castle. It is close to the roundabout junction of the Downpatrick and Newcastle/Belfast roads.
It is an excellent example of an Anglo-Norman castle with an added stone tower. A small kidney-shaped bailey lies south of a large mound, originally separated from it by a 2.1m deep ditch. On top of the 25 ft high motte is a stone tower, enlarged to become a tower house in the 15th century. It is sited off-centre as much of the rest of the top of the motte was occupied by a large hall, which apparently burned down. Around the motte is a ditch, and on the south-east side a low crescent shaped bailey, which was probably once joined to the motte by a wooden bridge.
Excavations on the summit of the mound in 1950 revealed that originally (in the late 12th or early 13th century) the top of the motte was surrounded by a timber palisade within which were pits for archers. Also found was the foundation of a long rectangular hall in the north-east half of the area, probably built in the mid 13th century. Later in the same century a small rectangular stone keep was built to the south-west, two storeys high and surviving to this day, having been conserved in 1981-82. In the late Middle Ages, after what appears to have been a period of disuse, it was restored and added to, resulting in an L-shaped tower house.

On July 31st 1974 Brian Clough signed as manager of Leeds United Football Club. Yorkshire Television's local regional magazine programme 'Calender' produced A Calendar Special - Clough Comes To Leeds.
Peak District Summer Scramble - Grindsbrook Clough, Grade 1
This is one of the most popular scrambling routes to take in the Peak District. As a grade 1 scramble, you should be able to manage this route with a good level of stamina.
We started our journey at the Edale Visitor Centre, where we bought our walking guide. This 8-mile circular journey took about 6 hours to complete and I would highly recommend.

Peak District Walk - Wildboar Clough Scramble & Bleaklow
This video sees my friend Ray and I head up on to Bleaklow via what is perhaps my favourite route, Wildboar Clough. We had a great scramble up the waterfalls while being battered by wind, rain and snow. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. After visiting the summit at Bleaklow Head we paid a quick visit to the B-29 Superfortress Bomber Wreckage before heading back down to Hadfield via Glossop.

Peak District Country Walk The Village - Hayfield to Kinder Downfall round
Our video is a guided walk in the Peak District. We start in Hayfield which is the setting for the Sunday night series The Village and walk up to Kinder Reservoir we then proceed uphill along William Clough then follow the Pennine Way to Kinder Downfall and Kinder Low and return via Edale Rocks and Coldwell Clough. This is a hard too strenuous walk with steep inclines and declines on footpaths and tracks of which some are quite stony. Elevation: lowest point approx 186.60 m (612 ft) highest point approx 627.70 m (2059ft). Approx 10 miles allow 4 hours 20 minutes using OS map OL1, The Peak District. Dark Peak area. Lady Clough Forest
I went down to the Peak District a week or so ago and we visited this insane woods called Lady Clough Forest. My initial thought was how Canadian it looks (I have never been to Canada before so if you are Canadian please confirm). The colours looked great so I had to shoot a film about it. I wouldn't be surprised if the latest Star Wars film was shot here (as I heard quite a bit of it was filmed in the UK). We spent about 2 hours there and I tried to shoot as much as I can. This is what I came up with.

Peak District Country Walk Eyam Eyam Moor Stoke Ford Bretton Clough round
Our video is a guided walk in the Peak District. Starting from Eyam, the famous 'Plague Village', we walk over Eyam Moor to Stoke Ford and return via Bretton clough. This is an easy to moderate walk on easy to follow paths and tracks with a couple of steep inclines and declines. Elevation: Approx lowest point 205.80m (675.2ft) approx highest point 406.3m (1333ft) approx total ascent 376m (1234ft).
Approx 5.4 miles allow 3 hours using OS Explorer Map OL24, The Peak District White Peak area. Start point: Eyam car park.

Wildboarclough is one of the best scrambles in the Peak District region.
The scramble is located next to Torside reservoir and is really fun, with a series of rock steps with good hand holds, making for a consistently exciting scrambling route.

Ghost Stories is an American paranormal television series that premiered on October 16, 2009 As its title implies, the series features ghost stories. Each episode showcases stories, legends and tales of different reportedly haunted locations in the United States.
Clough roundabout, 'Way to the Fair' Sculpture Darren Sutton
I do not usually like or appreciate most sculpture but this example sitting in the middle of Clough roundabout makes me smile every time I approach it. I think it is so expressive of cow and farmer interaction in real life. In this stainless steel produced sculpture called 'Way to the Fair', the 'ole cow seems to know that it is being sold off and it is clearly not happy.
Sculpture (John) Darren Sutton was born in Dungannon, Co Tyrone in 1972. Since graduating from Stafford College, England, he has spent 16 years producing public art in Scotland, England, Portugal and latterly Ireland. These works include sculptures, murals and other commissioned works of art.
His sculptured work is cast in specialist cement as well as resin, aluminum and bronze. Works are also created using brick, steel and wood.
In 2003 he was employed by the world famous Royal Worcester Porcelain. There he assisted members of the public in designing, decorating and producing porcelain products within the complex.
In 2006 Darren returned home to Dungannon where he was commissioned to work on Re-imaging projects in Belfast and Dungannon. Darren was also commissioned to produce major sculptures in Banbridge, County Down.
In 2010 he began work in Belfast for HBO film and television company. There he produced a number of panels and three-dimensional works for a new TV series.
Darren has had the opportunity to refine and enhance his unique talent by working on numerous public artworks in England for over 15 years, but his most recent works have been created back home in Northern Ireland. In the past five years his works have been commissioned by various local council authorities.
Solitude Park in Banbridge holds the stunning 21ft, stainless steel “Flax Flowers” sculpture. Not only is this work unique in size and stature, it brings a positive, social ambience to the onlooker and an eye-catching focal point to the park.
At the opposite end of Banbridge town, Darren was commissioned to produce the “Family Entering the Workhouse” piece. This bronze sculpture is a life-size work depicting a family being separated at the gate of the workhouse in days gone by. Contrary to the subject matter this sculpture brings an uplifting, tangible presence to the area, and is situated on an elevated site where the original workhouse stood.
