#6 U.K. Horley City Walk - close Gatwick Airport | Короткая прогулка в Англии, Херлей
I decided to take a walk between two flights in the U.K. Hurley in spring time. I wanted to capture and show to you the nowadays lifestyle, streets, shops and people living there.
Решил прогуляться по скромному городку в Англии, Харлей (городок возле Gatewick Airport) между двумя рейсами. Заснял поверхностно местную обстановку (магазины, улицы, людей, без комментариев.)

Gatwick Stay Park and Fly... but Without all the Hassle and 'Rip-Off' Parking
You know when you fly out of Gatwick for your summer holiday and business trips. Do you ever find yourself having to stay in one of the Big Hotels the night before, just so that you don’t miss your flight - stuck in traffic?
Don’t you find that such a pain?
Having to park off-site in one of those long-term-car-parks. Then haul your luggage on a bus just to get back to the airport. Then through the airport to your hotel
It’s a real hassle and the parking costs an absolute fortune!
You-know there’s a much better way to start your trip
The wife and I found Springwood
It’s just 5 minutes from the airport, but the key thing is –
You can park straight at the Guest House and they look after you car while you’re away
Even better...

It’s located in a leafy suburb – not under the flight path - so you’re guaranteed a peaceful night's sleep!
And for your evening meal... “There are 20 different local restaurants to choose from. Springwood even provide ‘a restaurant guide’ – with the latest reviews
You start the day with a really nice Continental Breakfast. Including cereals, fruits, yoghurts, toasted muffins & crumpets
There’s even an option to pre-order bagels with smoked salmon & cream cheese

Day 1: London
Day 1 England: London, London Eye, London Eye Thames River Cruise, Shakespeare Globe Theater, Big Ben, Horley England (Gatwick Airport).
After getting to Heathrow about 11:30, we sat on the tar-mat for about 20-30 minutes. Then took a crazy bus ride all over the underside of the terminal buildings. We thought: Hey, we should be close to the where we need to be. Ummm... no... was still a long walk to customs lol. Getting SIM cards sorted out took another 30 minutes (Rebecca at SIMLocal was VERY helpful!). Another long walk to the Underground and the hour ride to Waterloo Station.
And one once.... but TWICE... when the trains started mom wasn't sitting down. TIMBER! Straight down like a tree. Thankfully those around her caught her. This created:
Grandma Rule #1: Sit down BEFORE the train (bus, tram, whatever) starts to move....... in a seat!!!..... NOT the floor.....
Took a bit to find the Left Luggage joint where we were able to leave our bags while doing the tourist thing. Hoped a cab and off to Shakespears Globe (about 3:30ish I think by this time). Waterloo they had a Fast and Furious 8 display, double decker bike racks, and a bit overwhelming for our first time in London.
The cab driver couldn't take us all the way to the Globe as a funeral was in progress for one of the officers slain in the terrorist attack the prior week. So we jumped out and walked the block to the Thames, and hung a left. Fantastic walk. So pretty. The old buildings, with the new buildings. Ok, it was fantastic, until I realized we went the WRONG WAY! :(. By the time we got to the Globe, the last tour was sold out already. Took a little breather, then walked out of the blocked area for the funeral and caught an Uber back to the London Eye. I think the driver kinda jacked us up a bit, as he dropped us on the other side of the river near Big Ben. But, seeing Big Ben was worth it. I mention in the video how big it is. Seriously, it's massive. Pictures don't do it justice.
The amount of people, on a Monday, in April, walking in this area, the Westminster Bridge, London Eye area, was shocking to me. There were a TON of people. I can't even imagine how many people are there in the summer time. The line was way longer than an hour, so we forked over the extra $10 a ticket for the express line. Money well spent. London Eye was a blast. And the river cruise I felt was just as good, if not better since you had the commentary. I'll post a separate video with the full 12 minutes in case anyone is interested. The river cruise was 40 minutes. London Eye rotation 30.
After all that, were were tuckered out. 7:30ish maybe. Decided we should grab our luggage and head to Gatwick Airport and eat when we get down there. In hindsight, we probably should have eaten first. Learning the trains was interesting. and learned the value of having our SIM Cards and Google Maps available. Google Maps will tell you what platform to be on, how long until the train arrives, how many stops once on the train, etc. SOOOOOoooooo helpful. Hour ride to Gatwick Airport, and a short cab ride to the hotel.
Cute little hotel: Gatwick Belmont Hotel. Most of the hotels are clean, but bare bones. Not a lot of frills. Took a short walk to the town center (about 5 minutes), and by 9:30-10:00, everything was closed. Just 2 Indian places open. But we had a very delicious dinner. Off to Isle of Man at 6:00am the next morning.
