St Vincent - Caribbean Island - Taxi Ride from the Airport - Sept 2017
I video the taxi ride from the airport in St Vincent. Airport code SVD. I am going to my Airbnb. This is finally a new country that I have not been to before. The cost was $23 USD. The local currency is Eastern Caribbean Dollars, but I only had USD. It was starting to get dark and I used my phone to video. So the quality is not as usual.
Google translate:
Yo video el viaje en taxi desde el aeropuerto de San Vicente. Código de aeropuerto SVD. Voy a mi Airbnb.

Barbados Reggae Bus
How to describe to your friends a ride one one of Barbados' famous [infamous?] minibuses? Hopefully this video helps! Commonly referred to as reggae buses by tourists because of the loud dancehall music some of them play, these minibuses are definitely an experience to be had while visiting Barbados. Many other Caribbean islands have what Bajans refer to as ZR vans that also play loud music, but I think minibuses are something that set the Barbados experience apart from the rest. They have become part of the Barbados cultural experience, and I would say they are a boost to the Barbados tourism industry, especially when it comes to attracting young thrill seeking tourists, but really tourists of all age groups seem to appreciate the unique experience. I have also curated a playlist called Barbados Buses that contains many tourist videos of.. well.. Barbados buses!
Barbados has an extensive and reliable public transportation system. Technically there are two systems, a public, government owned system that operates regular large city buses that comfortable seat over 40 people, and the private system that runs the 20+ seater yellow buses featured in this video and the equaly famous ZR vans, which are passenger vans similar to what you will see on other Caribbean islands. Buses in the private system are owned by individuals who basically rent them out to the bus drivers for a fee, and whatever the driver and conductor make during the day they keep. A ride on either system will only cost you 1 American dollar ($2 Barbados) one-way. That dollar will get you virtually anywhere on the island. On the public system, exact change is required, but they provide transfers in case you need to switch buses. On the private buses, they provide change, but you will need to pay each time you switch buses.
Officially, buses run from 5 am till midnight depending on the route. You may be able to catch ZR vans after normal operating hours, and/or you can hire a cab. Government bus schedules are available at

FIRST TIME IN BARBADOS | Where to go, What to eat
Eheleh!
I know this is late considering we went in December, but I was using a program called Hitfilms (free) and it kept crashing on me, which is super annoying. I am going to try Filmora now.
We spent Christmas in Barbados of 2019.
We stayed in Christ Church Hastings. That is a really good spot if you want to be near the cleaner beaches and close to Bridgetown.
We did not pay for any tours. Everywhere we went, I drove.
Driving is on the left hand side, I used to drive on that side in my home country so it was not difficult to pick up. If you can, try rent a car, SUPER cheap and better than flagging down very expensive taxis everywhere you want to go.
Definitely go to Oistin's Fish Fry, but don't go too late! Try get there before 6pm if you want decent service and a table. DEFINITELY try the Flying fish. So good. Oh and coconut ice-cream is amazzzee!
I would skip the plantation tbh, it's just sad because of what it used to be towards Africans. I mean, it is beautiful, but just meh for me.
DEFINITELY go to the Wildlife Reserve and the Flower Forest. So beautiful and peaceful. Great for kids/family visits. Not overcrowded at all!
We didn't go to the flower cave, seemed like more of an Instagramy/photo op place. We would of liked to do some sort of cave tour but Steves mom was with us so we tried doing something everyone could do.
Don't stay near a main road, or at least ask if the place has insulation from the outside street noises. The taxis make a LOT of noise. We were right on a main road. Good for travel, bad for sleep.
Comment if you have any other questions.

Best of Barbados. 5 Top Tips. Destination Tips. Glory Tours, Fish Fry, Harrisons Cave & Bathsheba
Best of Barbados. 5 Top Tips. Destination Tips. Glory Tours, Fish Fry, Harrisons Cave & Bathsheba
Here are 5 top tips: Get involved with Oistins Fish Fry. The weekly Friday night event to sample fresh seafood, cool beer, and live music. Harrison's Cave offers a unique Bajan experience. Visit Bridgetown. Take the speedboat ride. Try Harbour Lights for an epic night out. Glory Tours is the company to arrange a half day or full day tour of the island. Drive-a-Matic to hire a car locally and Pedro Spencer for a local taxi service
Barbados is more of an upscale holiday spot than a budget travel destination.
The West Coast of Barbados is known as the “Platinum Coast”. This is where you’ll find ultra-chic establishments like Sandy Lane and The Cliff. In Holetown you’ll find the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, an upscale shopping, dining and entertainment complex featuring top luxury brands.
The East Coast of Barbados from Cattlewash to Bathsheba is essentially undeveloped and unspoiled. You can walk for miles and rarely see another soul. It is an experienced surfer’s dream.
Harrison’s Cave Take a trolley tour deep underground through the crystallized limestone caverns.
The Animal Flower cave is a completely different cave experience. It’s not as deep and vast as Harrison’s Cave, but it’s equally as impressive in its own right. Take a dip in the indoor pool.
Fish Fry at Oistins is the traditional Bajan fish fry, where you can enjoy casual seafood and tasty side dishes in a fun yet relaxed atmosphere. The town of Oistins is the place to go on Friday or Saturday nights, it’s like dinner and a show, with an authentic local flavour.
Huntes Gardens and Flower Forest are also places to visit. Andromeda Gardens is very special.

Barbados Tourism Video | Best Tourist Attractions in Barbados 2018 best places to visit barbados
One of the most well-developed of all the Caribbean and Atlantic Islands, Barbados retains the refined elegance and cultural customs of its British roots (think cricket and high tea) infused with a colorful West Indian vibe. Barbados gained independence from Britain in 1966, but many of the relics from its colonial past still stand. In Bridgetown, the clean and safe capital, impressive colonial buildings and the historic garrison are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. Around the island are sprawling sugar plantations and historic museums, along with endless tropical beauty. Pretty pink and white coral-sand beaches, pale turquoise seas, and a dramatic east coast sculpted by pounding surf are some of the island's major attractions.
1. Harrison's Cave Tour
Harrison's Cave, a crystallized limestone cavern, features streams, waterfalls, cascades, and deep pools. After an educational film, you can tour a one-and-a-half-kilometer route via electric tram, with a stop to walk to a waterfall plunging to a deep pool below. Lights illuminate the impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and cascading waters. Near the cave, a visitor center displays Arawak Indian artifacts.
2. Flower Forest
Offering beautiful vistas, in the hills of central Barbados, the Flower Forest encompasses 53 acres of peaceful forests and tropical flora on the grounds of a former sugar plantation. Garden lovers can stroll along a circuit of well-marked trails through lush foliage, with many spots to sit and relax. The beautiful palms, gingers, and many colorful orchids are highlights. After touring the grounds, you can purchase snacks at the small café.
3.Andromeda Botanic Gardens
Specializing in tropical plants from all over the world, the Andromeda Botanic Gardens are renowned not only for their collection, but also for their scenic location on a hillside overlooking the Atlantic. Of note are the breadfruit trees descended from those collected by Captain Bligh, of mutiny fame, as well as the rare species of succulents and palms. Also interesting are the large bearded fig trees, which once covered the island in vast forests, possibly prompting passing Portuguese sailors to name the island Barbados meaning the the bearded ones.
4.Crane Beach
Crane Beach, with its beautiful, pink coral sand, was once a boat landing where cargo was unloaded and lifted by a crane perched atop the cliff. Today, it's one of the most famous beaches in Barbados. Cruise ship visitors, tourists, and locals alike come here to frolic in the rolling surf, sunbathe on the soft sands, and peek at the luxury hotel overlooking the beach. Once called the Crane Beach Hotel, it is the oldest hotel in Barbados and is now known simply as The Crane.
5.Barbados Wildlife Reserve
At the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, opposite Farley Hill, you can walk among the animals. Shady paths thread through a mahogany forest populated by deer, agoutis, tortoises, iguanas, and a raucous collection of tropical birds. Wild green monkeys, imported from Africa by early settlers, are also often seen at dawn and dusk, and plant lovers will enjoy the park's vibrant display of orchids. The entrance fee includes a visit to nearby Grenade Hall Signal Station.

This adventure by public bus is to show just how easy it is to get right across Barbados. This trip is to Bathsheba. The web site page has another example, but the bus service should be explored if you go there regularly.
The dramatic East Coast is great for walkers who enjoy the dramatic scenery.
