Britain's Strongest Storm in a Decade Creates HUGE Waves
Britain's strongest storm in a decade battered southern regions on Monday, forcing hundreds of flight cancellations, cutting power lines and disrupting the travel plans of millions of commuters.
Winds of up to 99 miles per hour (160 km per hour) lashed southern England and Wales in the early hours of Monday, shutting down rail services in some areas during rush hour.
Toppled trees crushed cars, damaged properties and flooding made some roads impassable in southern England.
Storms were are also expected to hit parts of the Netherlands later on Monday, the Dutch Meteorological Institute said, and Schiphol airport told passengers to expect cancellations.
About 40,000 customers were left without power in one of the worst storms to hit England since the 1987 Great Storm which killed 18 people in Britain and felled around 15 million trees.
A 14-year old boy was missing after being swept out to sea on Sunday afternoon before the storm hit. Police said rescuers were forced to call off a search for him late on Sunday due to the pounding waves, whipped up by the rising wind.
London's Heathrow airport said 130 flights were cancelled, the majority between 0600 and 1100 GMT and told passengers to check with their airlines before travelling.
Gatwick airport warned of flight disruption, adding the train services to the airport would not run until 0900 GMT.
As the working week began, thousands were expected to be stranded at home. London's underground service said several lines were part suspended due to obstruction on tracks.
The Highways Agency, which operates the road network in England, said high winds had forced the closure of London's southbound Dartford Crossing and the M4 Severn crossing, between South Wales and England, in both directions.
Network Rail, Britain's rail network operator, said services were unlikely to get going until 9.00 a.m. in some areas.
Strong winds were forecast to continue hitting Britain's East, East Midlands, West Midlands, South East and South West and there was a risk that motorbikes and high-sided vehicles could be blown over, the agency added.
The strongest recorded winds hit England's Isle of Wight at 99 mph (160 kph) at 0600 GMT, the Met office said.
As Britain's strongest storm in a decade battered southern regions on Monday (October 28), minor damage was caused in France and cross-Channel ferry services were disrupted.
Weather forecasters in France had put the north of the country on orange alert, the second highest level which requires extra vigilance faced with bad weather.
At 0800GMT, 65,000 homes were still left without power in France, with power restored in a further 10,000, announced ERDF, responsible for electricity distribution.
In Normandy, the strong winds left Dieppe's ferry terminal closed.
Storms are also expected to hit parts of the Netherlands later on Monday, the Dutch Meteorological Institute said, and Schiphol airport told passengers to expect cancellations.

Places to see in ( Great Yarmouth - UK )
Great Yarmouth, often known to locals as Yarmouth, is a coastal town in Norfolk, England. Great Yarmouth is located at the mouth of the River Yare, 20 miles east of Norwich. Great Yarmouth has been a seaside resort since 1760, and is the gateway from the Norfolk Broads to the North Sea. For hundreds of years Great Yarmouth was a major fishing port, depending mainly on the herring fishery, but Great Yarmouth fishing industry suffered a steep decline in the second half of the 20th century, and has now all but disappeared.
The discovery of oil in the North Sea in the 1960s led to a flourishing oil rig supply industry, and today Great Yarmouth services offshore natural gas rigs. More recently, the development of renewable energy sources, especially offshore wind power, has created further opportunities for support services. A wind farm of 30 generators is within sight of the town on the Scroby Sands. Great Yarmouth has a beach and two piers.
Great Yarmouth is on a 3.1-mile (5.0 km) spit sandwiched between the North Sea and River Yare. Great Yarmouth well-known features include the historic rows (narrow streets) and the main tourist sector on the seafront. The area is linked to Gorleston, Cobholm and Southtown by Haven Bridge and to the A47 and A149 by the Breydon Bridge.
Great Yarmouth is connected to Norwich by the Wherry Lines from Great Yarmouth railway station, it is served by an hourly service provided by Abellio Greater Anglia via Acle or, less frequently, via Reedham. The bus station in Great Yarmouth is the major hub for local routes and is located under Market Gates Shopping Centre. The River Yare cuts off Great Yarmouth from other areas of the borough such as Gorleston and Southtown and so the town's two bridges have become major transport links.

Mary’s Apparitions for the World: San Nicolas, Argentina
Correction-Update regarding my comments on the Holy Love shrine in Ohio with so-called visionary Maureen Sweeney. I had researched it extensively. Several sources state that the diocese refused to investigate it. I knew good Catholics who had made the pilgrimage and were convinced believers. I read the messages for several years and couldn't find anything heretical, but nothing very original. I kept praying for light as to whether I should promote this apparition, and then was offered an opportunity to journey to Ohio, almost a thousand miles from my current location. The shrine was like a show. All the promises could only be fulfilled by autosuccession. My companions and I were convinced it was all fluff and nonsense. I hope to do a video series on false apparitions.
The ignorance of Catholics about this Apparition, that is those who live outside of South America, is nothing less than surreal. It’s a modern Apparition, it’s officially approved, it’s a very big deal in South America. Mary wants her messages known. Let’s praise and thank God for all that He’s been accomplishing by sending his Blessed Mother to the humble housewife, Gladys DeMotta in San Nicolas, an industrial city located about 150 miles from Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.

Attempted rescue of a stranded minke whale on North Berwick beach
Members of the North Berwick RNLI battle terrible weather conditions in an attempt to save a young minke whale that had become stranded on the beach in the early hours of 3rd April 2012. This was the moment we thought they might have succeeded, but sadly - despite an amazing effort by everyone involved - the 15ft whale was washed back on to the beach and died shortly afterwards.

Jim's Coastal Path Walk around UK - Day 222
I am a 70 years old gritty Yorkshireman from Hull. I am currently in St, Ives, North Cornwall heading for Lands End within the next few days, though I might be held up by wintry showers and strong winds. It has turned cold in Cornwall, but fortunately the forecast suggests it will only last for a few days. I can wait, I am in no rush to take any risks. I have enjoyed good weather throughout my walk since setting off from Grimsby on 12th April 2018 and have now walked over 2,000 miles, but I still have 3,000 to go to complete the full circle.
