TIDAL BORE RAFTING THE MIGHTY BAY OF FUNDY! | NOVA SCOTIA LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE
Episode 3 of 12 - Bay of Fundy Tidal Bore Rafting
It's time to face the highest and mightiest tides found anywhere on earth. We first walk the exposed ocean floor at Burntcoat Head Park where trees dangle from atop red sandstone cliffs, eventually falling into the sea from constant erosion from these powerful tides. It's the time to fill the power of the tides first-hand while rafting the bore with Tidal Bore Rafting Resort. An exhilarating ride that you have to SEE TO BELIEVE.

Stellar Connections: Explorations in Cultural Astronomy - Pt. 3, John MacDonald
In Indigenous worldviews -- where humanity, nature, and the spiritual realm are closely connected -- the night sky provides spiritual and navigational guidance, timekeeping, weather prediction, and stories and legends that tell us how to live a proper life. Cultural astronomy, also referred to as archaeoastronomy or ethnoastronomy, explores the distinctive ways that astronomy is culturally embedded in the practices and traditions of various peoples.
In Part 3, John MacDonald presents The Arctic Sky -- Inuit astronomy, Star Lore, and Legend
Now retired, John MacDonald spent most of his working life in the Canadian Arctic. He was for twenty-five years coordinator of the Igloolik Research Centre located in the Inuit community of Igloolik in Nunavut's North Baffin Island region. Throughout his time in Igloolik he collaborated closely with local Inuit elders to record and document the oral history and traditional knowledge of the region. Part of this work included a major study of Inuit astronomy and cosmology, leading to the publication of his book The Arctic Sky - Inuit Astronomy, Star Lore and Legend (1998, 2000). Long interested in contact history between Europeans and inuit, MacDonald is currently editing and annotating an unpublished journal documenting early encounters between Inuit of the Igloolik area and members of an 1820's British naval expedition seeking an Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
The symposium was webcast on October 20, 2012 from the Rasmuson Theater in the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

(Vancouver CANADA) Pinoy Travel Channel
Vancouver is the city that has it all: natural beauty and cosmopolitan flair. Set between the Pacific Ocean and the coastal mountains, it has a harmonious blend of nature and urban living. Gardens, parks, and beaches are as common here as heritage buildings, restaurants, and theatres.
While maintaining the laid-back attitude of North America's West Coast, Vancouver has managed to build an international spirit. As the third largest city in Canada, it shares an ethnic diversity and multicultural flavor with the rest of the country. It's young, lively, and the jumping-off point for many spectacular outdoor activities. .

Chorus:
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea;
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea.
Westward from the Davis Strait 'tis there 'twas said to lie
The sea route to the Orient for which so many died;
Seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered, broken bones
And a long-forgotten lonely cairn of stones.
(chorus)
Three centuries thereafter, I take passage overland
In the footsteps of brave Kelso, where his sea of flowers began
Watching cities rise before me, then behind me sink again
This tardiest explorer, driving hard across the plain.
(chorus)
And through the night, behind the wheel, the mileage clicking west
I think upon Mackenzie, David Thompson and the rest
Who cracked the mountain ramparts and did show a path for me
To race the roaring Fraser to the sea.
(chorus)
How then am I so different from the first men through this way?
Like them, I left a settled life, I threw it all away.
To seek a Northwest Passage at the call of many men
To find there but the road back home again.
(chorus)
Iceberg and polar bear encounter off Baffin Island, Canada
A close encounter with a hauntingly beautiful tabular iceberg off Baffin Island, Navy Board Inlet (between Bylot and Baffin Islands). Tabular icebergs are flat slabs that have carved off glaciers - in this case further north, possibly from Lancaster Sound, but more likely from the 16 or so outlet glaciers lying to the north of Navy Inlet and on Baffin Island's East coast (this publication details the glaciers there:
The iceberg is in the 'large' category (so the second biggest of the official sizes) - it must be about 1KM long and is about 80 metres or so high - containing at least ten million tons of slowly melting ice. It seemed grounded in the relatively shallow Navy Board Inlet but must have floated here from at least fifty miles further north where it broke off the glacier. The compressed snow in this iceberg is 15,000 years old and a remnant from the last ice age!
The polar bear mother and cub were seen further south on brash ice about 40km from shore. They were interested in us but we were in the safety of the big ship!
