Hotel Review: Motel One, Tower Hill, London, England - May 2016

I stayed at the Motel One Tower Hill in London in May 2016. Two of us stayed in a double room for 3 nights, room only for £123 per room per night, booked with Booking.com. This is not a cheap hotel, but then again London is not a cheap city.

The hotel itself was very good, everything you expect from a Motel One, it was modern and new, although unfortunately the first room that we were allocated absolutely stunk of marijuana, so we were moved rooms.

We were allocated a second room which also had a slight whiff of ganja, although nowhere near as bad as the first one. Our first room (723) had a poor view of a building site, but our second room (708) had a wonderful view over the skyscrapers of that part of London.

Within this film are views of the outside of the hotel, the entrance, lounge, lobby, reception, bar, lift elevator, corridors, a detailed inspection of room 723, and a detailed room inspection of 708.

I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again if I needed to be in central London.

Motel One Stuttgart-Hauptbahnhof is a 3-star budget design hotel. It has 231 rooms, Bar, One Lounge & Breakfast area.
This motel one is located in city center Stuttgart Mitte at Lautenschlagerstrabe 14.

HOW TO GET THERE/TRANSPORTATION
 1. The train take approx 27 minutes. You can take a direct train from Stuttgart airport & get off at Hauptbahnhof stop, walk towards Kronenstrasse direction & take Lautenschlagerstrasse exit. The train exit is right next to Motel One.
2. Taxi takes approx 30 minutes & costs around 40 Euros from the airport to the hotel.
3. If you are coming by car, you can park your car at one of the near by parking facility as the hotel does not provide on site parking.

The official Check-in starts at 15:00.

ROOM OPTIONS
This Motel One provides two room categories.
King Room & Queen Room with different bed size.

BREAKFAST
Motel One offers urban organic breakfast with fair trade products. Breakfast is € 11,50 per person. The breakfast buffet is available in the One Lounge.
Breakfast is served from 6:00 till 10:00 & 7:00 till 11:00 in the weekends.

BAR
The hotel has a 24 hour bar called One Lounge. There is also a shaded terrace in the hotel.

BIKE RENTAL
The hotel does not offers bike rental, You can use smart mobility services like City bikes or Lime to get around the city.

SURROUNDING AREA
Near the hotel you have a grocery store & a shopping mall. Motel one is 6 minutes walk away from Kongistrasse boulevard and restaurants in Stuttgart. Stuttgart Central Station provides connections to all parts of Stuttgart city and the airport.

Hotel Review: Intercity Hotel Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof, Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt - June 2018.

The Intercity Hotel at Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof is a 2 minute walk from the main entrance to Magdeburg's main railway station. It is a decent hotel that appeals to both the business and leisure tourist market. I stayed there for two nights in June 2018 on a bed and breakfast basis, I can't find out how much this cost as it was part of a wider package, but it was not expensive.

The film features views of the reception, bar, lift, restaurant, breakfast buffet and a detailed room inspection of room 517, which was small and cosy, but adequate for my needs, the room lacked air-conditioning, which was a shame as the temperature outside was 30 degrees celsius. The room had a double bed, two chairs, table, desk area, ample plug sockets, wardrobe, luggage storage area, and a decent bathroom with a walk in shower.

The room was at the end of a top floor corridor so location wise was excellent for having nobody above and no passing corridor traffic. It faced the railway station, which I did not mind as the view was quite interesting, a mixture of ongoing construction site, and passing trains. To some people this may be noisy and inconvenient. The trains are 24 hours, but the construction site was quiet in the evenings and at weekends. I'm only mentioning this, as with the room having no air-conditioning it was necessary to sleep wth the windows wide open.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, all the usual salad items, yoghurts, cereals, along with bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs and sometimes frikadelle - little beef burgers.

If I was staying in Magdeburg again, I would definitely consider staying not only at this hotel, but specifically in this room.

Review: InterCity Hotel Magdeburg Hauptbahnhof, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany - 5th December, 2014

I stayed at the InterCity hotel on a recent visit to Magdeburg. I needed to be close to the railway station, and this was a perfect hotel for me to stay in. The room was fairly basic, but it was warm and comfortable, and had a view across the railway lines behind the hotel.

Breakfast was the usual InterCity buffet, and was very good, although the breakfast room was extremely busy, which wasn't particularly comfortable, and I was unable to film the buffet due to the number of people having breakfast.

The film features exterior views of the hotel, both from the railway station, and in front of the hotel, as well as views of the entrance, bar, restaurant and a detailed room inspection.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to other visitors to Magdeburg, particularly to those who need to be near the station.

I. Matériels.
1) 1 pompe à vide avec sa cloche et les accessoires.
2) 4 ventouses en caoutchouc, 1 ventouse de bricolage, une petite vitre.
3) 2 hémisphères en inox avec un joint circulaire.
II. Action.
1) On relie la pompe à la platine pour montrer où se fait l’aspiration de l’air.
2) On sépare 2 ventouses accolées en tirant fortement, en remettant de l’air dans l’espace entre les ventouses ou en les plaçant sous la cloche et en faisant le vide.
3) On place une ventouse sur la paroi interne et une autre sur la paroi externe de la cloche.
4) On ouvre le robinet qui permet à l’air d’entrer dans la cloche. Le socle tombe.
5) On fait le vide dans les gros hémisphères ce qui les plaquent l’une contre l’autre.
6) On les sépare en faisant entrer l’air ou en tirant fortement.
III. Que s’est–il passé ?
1) Quand on comprime 2 ventouses, une partie de l’air s’échappe. Les nombreux chocs des molécules (N2, O2) de l’air poussent les 2 ventouses l’une contre l’autre.
2) Pour séparer les ventouses, il faut tirer plus fort que l’action des molécules, remettre des molécules de l’air qui poussent en sens contraire ou enlever les molécules qui maintiennent les ventouses accolées.
3) La ventouse interne tombe, car il n’y a plus assez de chocs pour la plaquer sur la paroi de verre.
4) La ventouse de bricolage permet de soulever une vitre encombrante. La ventouse industrielle permet de soulever un bloc de pierre.
IV. Précautions et Données.
1) La force de pression F agit perpendiculairement à la surface pressée S.
2) F = P*S . Si P = 101 300 Pa ou N/m2 et S= π*R2, alors F≈ 200 N sur une petite ventouse
de rayon R=0,025 m. Cette force correspond au poids d’une masse de 20 kg.
3) R=0,10 m pour un hémisphère et F ≈ 3000 N. Cette force correspond au poids d’une masse de 300 kg.
4) Porter des lunettes de protection, car il y a risque d’implosion de la cloche si le verre est fêlé.

3) 2 hemispheres in stainless steel with a circular seal.
2. Actions.
1) Connect the pump to the plate to show where is the air intake.
2) To separate 2 suction cups , pull strongly, put air back into the space between the suction cups or place them in the vacuum bell jar.
3) Place a suction cup on the internal wall and one on the outer wall of the vacuum bell jar.
4) The tap is opened allowing air to enter into the bell. The plate falls.
5) When the air is sucked out from inside the hemispheres, and the valve is closed, the hose from the pump can be detached, and they are held firmly together by the air pressure of the surrounding atmosphere.
6) The hemispheres are separated by bringing air or by pulling strongly
3. What happened ?
1) When two suction cups are pressed, air escapes. Many shocks of molecules (N2, O2) push the two suction cups one against the other.
2) To separate two suction cups, pull stronger than the action of molecules, bring molecules that push in the opposite direction, or remove the outside molecules .
3) Inside the vacuum bell jar, suction cup falls ; there is not enough shocks.
4) A DIY suction cup can lift a bulky glass. An industrial suction cup can lift a stone block.
4. Precautions.
1) The pressing force F acts perpendicular to the pressed surface S .
2) F = P * S. If P = 101300 Pa or N / m2 and S = π * R2, then F≈ 200 N on a small suction cup
radius R = 0.025 m. This force corresponds to the weight of a mass of 20 kg.
3) R = 0.10 m for a hemisphere and F ≈ 3000 N. This force is the weight of a mass of 300 kg.
4) Wear protective glasses because there is a risk of implosion of the bell if the glass is cracked.
