Wolseley 6/90 Revival #1 - As Discovered in Yard, Two Cars
Two rusty and derelict Wolseley 6/90 cars as discovered after many years of storage.
One is a truly horrible wreck that is falling to pieces. The other is generally solid and has had some good repair work carried out in the past, but has clearly now been standing for many years. Both are Series 3 cars with the larger rear window, wooden dash and right-hand floor change gearbox with overdrive and date from 1958-1959, just before the big Gerald Palmer designed cars were replaced by the Farina designed 6/99.
Relatively rare when new, with under 12,000 6/90s made in total between 1954 and 1959, now only around 25 examples survive in Britain with under 100 cars worldwide - mostly in Australia and New Zealand but including one car in Sri Lanka, Canada and the USA respectively.
These were fast cars, capable of 100mph and sharing mechanicals with the 2.6 litre Austin Healy 100/6. Although marketed as soldly respectable, middle-class executive transport, more than half the cars made were used as Police Cars. This more exciting and hard-edged identity was immortalised by appearance in countless British films during the '50s, with a ratio of movie appearances to numbers produced that possibly exceeds any other car - and mostly in Noir-esque titles with plenty of tyre screeching on fast corners, most famously in Hell is a City . Only one genuine Police 6/90 is known to survive although there are several replica Police Cars (which is the intention for this car).
The 6/90 shares similar styling to the much smaller 4/44 & 15/50 models, which survive in reasonable numbers and shared bodywork with the MG Magnette. The 6/90 shares basically the same bodyshell as the Riley Pathfinder (which is now also extremely rare), although mechanically little was shared.
Of these two cars, one should be relatively straightforward to re-commission after some essential repairs with ongoing rolling conservation. But the other car - although rich in valuable parts - may well prove to be beyond any realistic prospect of restoration. Follow the progress of these two cars in further episodes to be uploaded on this Chanel by subscribing.

Step 1 (00:37): Clean Your Shoes with a Damp Cloth
The first step is to thoroughly clean the surface of your shoes using some water just to remove any type of surface dirt.
Step 2 (01:18): Apply Saphir Pommadier Cream Polish
After you've cleaned your shoes using a damp cloth, the next step is to apply Saphir's Medaille D'Or Pommadier Cream Polish. The polish will condition and recolor the shoes and acts as a gentle cleaner. Use a cotton chamois cloth to apply the cream polish and massage into the leather using circular motions.
After applying the polish, allow the leather to absorb the ingredients and the waxes to dry, for 3-5 minutes.
Step 3 (03:00): Buff off Cream Polish
Take a horsehair brush and begin to buff the polish off using moderate to firm pressure. The brush removes any excess polish, smoothes the polish out, and the friction between the brush and polish will allow the waxes to begin developing their shine.
You should be able to achieve a pretty nice shine after one application, but feel free to apply another coat if you'd like to build up the finish.
Step 4 (04:40): Apply Saphir Medaille D'Or Pate De Luxe Wax Polish
The wax polish helps elevate the shine of your fine dress shoes. We recommend matching the wax polish to the cream polish. Apply a small amount of wax polish using a cotton chamois cloth to the shoe using circular motions. Make sure you do not too much wax along the vamp (where the shoe bends) because it will cause creasing and streaking. Allow wax polish to dry for about 2-3 minutes before moving on to the next step.
Step 5 (06:01): Buff Off Wax Polish
Buff the wax polish using moderate to firm pressure.

The story of The Hanger Project:
What is the Best Shoe Polish? | Shoe Polish Review
Learn which shoe polish brand is the best in our newest shoe polish comparison video. Kirby Allison, founder of The Hanger Project, demonstrates the distinctive differences between Saphir Medaille d’Or and other competitors to showcase which one provides the best quality care for your fine dress shoes.
Saphir Médaille d’Or is widely recognized as the best shoe polish brand in the world. Their solvent is an all natural pine based turpentine versus a petroleum based as found in other shoe polish brands. Over the years, using a petroleum product on your shoes is going to break down the fats and lipids that you find in natural leather resulting in the degradation of the leather itself. Investing in nice, quality shoe polish can dramatically extend the lifetime of your shoes.

Wolseley 6/90 Revival #4 - Engine Started for First Time This Century & Car Moves!
Engine started for the FIRST TIME THIS CENTURY!
- This film was filmed live & single-handed while undertaking work on a very old car. This is reflected in the dialogue!
A 1959 Wolseley 6/90 - one of only 25 UK survivors - started up after many, many years off the road. She even manages to move, although the transmission is making some unusual noises.
I thought this was the Borg Warner overdrive but now believe to be insufficiently engaged 1st & reverse gear due to sloppy gear linkage (the gearchange is floor monted to the right of driver - by the door!) This car will be re-commissioned & put back on the road, with an ongoing programme of repair, restoration & conservation work. cars in further episodes to be uploaded on this Chanel by subscribing.
The engine sounded sweeter in reality but the mic on my tiny camera just picked up part of the range so it sounds pretty rough here.
Episode 1 shows car As Discovered in a yard.
This car is basically fairly sound but you can see from the movie that the lower hinge mount on the driver's door has failed, as well as pleny of other issues that need fixing. But it is GREAT to see that she now runs and drives and has functioning systems after lying in a yard for so long.
One of a pair, the other car has now found a home and will feature in a future episode of this series.
Relatively rare when new, with fewer than 12,000 6/90s made in total between 1954 and 1959, now only around 25 examples survive in Britain with fewer than 100 cars worldwide - mostly in Australia and New Zealand but including one car in Sri Lanka, Canada and the USA respectively.

These were all designed by Gerald Palmer, who also designed the Jowett Javelin. The Palmer-designed Wolseleys & MGs were later replaced by the Farina designed cars sharing the same styling as the Westminsters, Oxfords & Cambridges.

Wolseley 6/90 Revival #5 - Wiring, Instruments & Dashboard Fitted, started on key 1st time
With the dashboard, instruments & switches removed, the wiring is a tangled jumble of wires and potential short-circuits. Here the dashboard woodwork is refitted and the instruments and wiring loom are reconnected. The car is started on the key (and safely!) for the first time, and the semaphore traficators are brought back to life.
This is the better of two 6/90s -- both late Series 3 cars from 1958 or 1959. See both cars as discovered in the first episode. Follow the progress of these two cars in further episodes to be uploaded on this Chanel by subscribing.
Relatively rare when new, with fewer than twelve thousand 6/90s made in total between 1954 and 1959, now only around 25 examples survive in Britain with fewer than 100 cars worldwide - mostly in Australia and New Zealand but including one car in Sri Lanka, Canada and the USA respectively.

In 1955 at Montlhéry, a 6/90 achieved 100 miles in one hour alongside BMC's other Ton Up cars, the MGA, Austin Healy, and Riley Pathfinder. Although marketed as solidly respectable, middle-class executive transport, more than half the cars made were used as Police Cars.
