Thanks to Guilherme ( for taking us around Brazil.
SALVADOR, BAHIA - Before ever going to Brazil, Salvador was one of the top cities I wanted to visit - and finally this is the time. In this all out ultimate street food tour of Salvador we’ll focus especially on Afro-Brazilian food and culture, the heart of Salvador, Bahia. The people were amazing, the food was delicious. #Salvador #BrazilianFood #Acarajé #streetfood
Sao Joaquim Market - To begin this street food tour we started in the morning at Sao Joaquim Market, one of the main fruits and vegetables market, with restaurant and food as well. One thing you’ll see all over the market, different from other parts of Brazil is dendê oil, the orange palm oil originally from West Africa.
Recanto Da Lucia - At the market we ate breakfast at Recanto Da Lucia, a small local Brazilian food stall serving amazing dishes like feijoada and pirão. Total price - 80 BRL ($20.61)
Dona Susana - Next up on this Afro-Brazilian food tour of Salvador, we drover to Dona Susana, a restaurant under the highway, with a million dollar view. The main dish to eat in Bahia is Moqueca Bahiana, a stew of fish or seafood in palm oil and coconut milk. Her’s was outstanding as was the ensopado de camarão and her version of pirão. One of the most stunning locations so far in Brazil. Total price - 87 BRL ($22.41)
Pelourinho - This is the center of the historic city of Salvador, with a distinct Portuguese style and influence. If you look around, you might think you’re in Portugal.
Capoeira - Pelourinho is a center of art and culture and I had a chance to learn about Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art, but a dance at the same time. It’s amazing to watch and they even volunteered me to stand as they came dangerously close to kicking me!
Elevador Lacerda - In Pelourinho you’ll also find the Elevador Lacerda, which takes you from lover Salvador to the upper part of Salvador.
Price - .15 BRL ($0.03) per person
Mercado Modelo - One of the main central old city markets in Salvador, Bahia is Mercado Modelo, and while most of the market is pretty touristy, Jacibar on the outside serves up delicious local dishes. We ordered Xinxin de Galinha, Bobó de camarão, and Caruru. It was an incredible meal. Total price - 180 BRL ($46.37)
Tambores e Cores - Samba beats represent Salvador, Bahia, and the thundering drums are a must see when you’re in Bahia, Brazil.
Boteco Di Janela - In the evening we went to Boteco Di Janela, a bar and restaurant, friendly owners, and delicious seafood. We ate sarapatel - a blood stew, and sururu - small local mussels.
Acarajé da Ivone - If there’s one Brazilian street food snack you have to eat in Salvadar, it’s Acarajé, a life-changing bun of blackeyed peas deep fried in palm oil and stuffed with vatapa, caruru, shrimp, and salad. It’s is unbelievable and the owners at Acarajé da Ivone were equally as friendly and hospitable. I also had an Abara, the same thing except the black eyed pea fritter is steamed instead of fried. Price - 8 BRL ($2.06) per
Salvador, Bahia, in Brazil, exceeded my expectations - the food and people were outstanding and made it a city and destination I will never forget. What a stunning combination of natural beauty, food, and hospitality.

coconut brasil
Welcome to Unique Fazendas Brasil -- Plantation Management
A modern plantation management company based in the city of Fortaleza, operating modern coconut plantations in the state of Ceara. Brazil has become one of the most dynamic economies in the world and is ideally equipped to become a leading economic power. It is one of the world's biggest producers and exporters of foodstuffs. The country's competitiveness in agriculture arises from the quality of its soils, its excellent weather and its talented and professional human resources.
Brazil is a robust area for farmland, and since there is a lot of arable land in an economy that lacks infrastructure, land in Brazil is typically cheaper than in the United States. This combination makes for a potentially profitable asset in which there is room to continually increase investments.

Brazil Drone Flight: Brazil, a vast South American country, stretches from the Amazon Basin in the north to vineyards and massive Iguaçu Falls in the south. Rio de Janeiro, symbolized by its 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado, is famed for its busy Copacabana and Ipanema beaches as well as its enormous, raucous Carnaval festival, featuring parade floats, flamboyant costumes, and samba music and dance. Vibrant São Paulo is packed with shops, restaurants and cultural institutions including the noted Museum of Art. Brazils capital, Brasília, founded in 1960, is a planned city with modernist buildings by Oscar Niemeyer. The northeastern state of Bahia, known for beaches and dense Amazon rainforest, reflects African influences in its capoeira martial arts, axé dance music and moqueca (a coconut milk-seafood stew). Its capital, Salvador, retains its 16th- and 17th-century core. Farther north are Alagoas coral reefs, Maranhãos sand dunes and Portuguese colonial town Olinda. Western Pantanals wetlands shelter caimans and jaguars. [wikipedia // Google]

White Sandy Beach in Brazil
Praia do Baixio is a large beach with beautiful white sand dunes and extensive coconut trees. There are 5 surrounding lagoons. We had a perfect relaxing day full of sunshine, sweet sea breeze and tranquility.
Baixio is a small fishing village in Esplanada, Bahia, Brazil. It’s known as “the eternal summer because of its perfect climate all year around. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of mass tourism.
Tuesday, May 1, 2018 was Labor Day in Brazil. The kids had the day off from school. Our friends from our apartment complex invited us to visit Praia do Baixio for the day. It was a 2 hour 40 minute drive but it was well worth it. The drive was beautiful and we had the beach all to ourselves all day. We did have to walk almost 2 kilometers to get there but that was actually pretty fun. We saw lots of large flying bugs, a venomous coral snake and a sloth.
We were so happy to arrive at the beach. The blue lagoon wasn’t exactly blue but was still beautiful and pleasant. The water was fresh and warm. There was a huge white sandy hill that we had tons of fun running and rolling down. There were also stand up paddle boards and kayaks to rent. Our kids LOVED it! The best part was that our kids played in harmony all day. Video 48

20 Things to do in São Paulo, Brazil Travel Guide
Visiting Sao Paolo was a bit intimidating. We weren't really sure what to expect prior to visiting South America's largest city, however, we found that in that midst of the crowds and chaos there were cool pockets filled with parks, street art, and an abundance of restaurants. For this video, we also had two of our Brazilian friends join us and they were able to provide a unique window into the city. This travel guide will showcase 20 things to do in Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Our visit São Paulo travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and São Paulo at night. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical São Paulo tourism brochure or São Paulo, Brasil city tour.
20 Things to do in São Paulo, Brazil Travel Guide and Top Attractions Video Transcript:
Within the park grounds you’ll find the Afro-Brasil Museum, which is a contemporary museum that looks at African culture and influence in Brazilian society. And not too far from there, you’ll come across the Museum of Modern Art.
Batman Alley is located in Vila Madalena and it has become a popular tourist and Instagram spot. Apparently the place gets its name because the first piece of graffiti to go up was one of Batman back in the 1980s.
If you’re a football lover, this is a place you won’t want to miss.
Being the foodies that we are, we couldn’t skip the Municipal Market. Here you can find exotic fruits, fresh vegetables, meats, spices and even restaurants. We went there right around the lunch hour to try the famed mortadella sandwich.
From there, we visited Sao Paulo Cathedral. We only learned this after our visit, but there’s a crypt you can visit.
Next up we headed to the neighbourhood of Liberdade, which has the largest Japanese community in the world outside of Japan. We decided to hit up a sushi buffet for some food!
That evening we met up with our Brazilian friends, who took us out for a night on the town.
That morning we visited Pinacoteca do Estado, which is a cool art museum that focuses on works by Brazilian artist or works with Brazilian subject matter.
After that we headed over to Parque da Luz. This park is right next to the museum and it has a lot of interesting sculptures scattered about.
Sao Paulo’s Teatro Municipal first opened in 1911. The Martinelli building is 30 stories high and it was the first skyscraper in South America.
And that’s a quick look at how we spent 2 days in Sao Paulo. We hope you enjoyed this guide and that it gave you some ideas on how to tackle South America’s largest city. As always, if you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in Sao Paulo, feel free to share those with us in the comments below.

Pão na chapa - Brazilian breakfast in Sao Paulo, Brazil
When it comes to Brazilian breakfast simple and sweet is the best way to describe it. A typical breakfast in Sao Paulo consists of sweet and/or savory bread along with coffee and milk. That's it. We ended up popping into a small cafe that specialized in pão na chapa (Brazilian pan-fried toast soaked in butter) and pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread balls). We ordered two cups of coffee that came loaded with milk and sugar. They were so good I had to get a second one ;) We also grabbed a small treat known locally as cocado (Brazilian coconut bar candy) and all of this came to around $5 USD. Not bad value and certainly all of the sugar we needed to start the day ;)

Pão na chapa - Brazilian breakfast in Sao Paulo, Brazil Travel Video Transcript:
So good morning from Sao Paulo. We had a bit of a late night last night singing Karaoke with friends. But it is our last day in the city so we need to go out and sightseeing. So we're starting off the morning with a traditional breakfast. So if you have a look down here we've just ordered coffee. Coffee with milk. Pretty simple. I've also got my Pão de queijo. And that is a big one! And that is a massive one. So this is the cheese bread made with the manioc flower. Yes, and here comes the other part. This is the bread that has been cooked in butter, right? It's like the toast.
Okay, so can you tell us how pão na chapa is made? So basically the keep it really simple here in Brasil which is kind of cool. It's just your bread, cooked on a pan with butter. It is really simple but it looks really tasty. Yeah. But it is so nice and buttery and like the bread is flaky. It is like a French bread. They must put a lot of butter on there. Yeah, that's really nice. But you know what I do wish they had a bit of jam. Like this bread with a bit of strawberry jam would just be magic. You know what I would put cream cheese on mine. Cream cheese? With a dollop of strawberry jam on top. Oh. Now that is the winning combo.
Oh, look at that. It is so cheesy inside. This is amazing. Because you know what we've been going to a place called Case de Pão de queijo. And over there you get like these tiny little balls that are just like bite sized. But this is like a proper gigantic. The is the grand daddy of them all. That is bigger than our hand. Yeah, and see if you can get the texture of this. Just look at that. It is so cheesy. Oh.
How is that? That is good. Perfecto? That is authentic. Yeah. It is like really chewy because of all the cheese in there. Nice and starchy. It is good stuff. This is what I'm going to miss when we leave today. Pão de queijo.
Alright, time to try the coffee. Wow. It is really sweet isn't it. Really really sweet. There is a pile of sugar added. I like it. I'm loving the coffee. I like it too. I usually have my coffee black but this is a nice jolt of energy in the morning. It tastes more like a dessert coffee. And now this is completely unrelated to breakfast but you saw cocada. I saw the cocada and this is like our favorite coconut slash snack slash dessert and it is basically just coconut and whole bunch of sugar and maybe a little bit of milk. Look at this thing of beauty. It's like a coconut bar.
Oh man, that is so good. This has nothing to do with breakfast but I'm already eating sweets for breakfast. Why not? You just couldn't resist it. It's your last day in Sao Paulo. You may as well enjoy it. I'm doing whatever I want.
So we just paid the bill and Sam is over the moon because that was amazing value. Such cheap food. It was 16.25 Reals which is like less than $5 dollars. All of that food and I got an extra coffee. I mean we had three coffees, we had the two basically the two pastries, the two breads and then we had the cocado. So that is amazing. I'm full, I'm ready to go. I'm on a sugar high. Let's get the day started. Woo hoo! Let's go. Yeah. Hahaha.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is one of the one of the wildest and most exotic places I have every experienced, and the nightlife is nothing short of amazing.
Monday - Pedra do Sal
Our week starts out at the most popular party spot on Monday night in downtown Rio…
Tuesday - Gavea
On Tuesday, join the international crowd at the Zero Zero club in Gavea for a good vibe and great dance music.
Wednesday - Botafogo
Botafogo is the place to be in on Wednesday night as there’s a variety of bars to check out, and you can’t miss Karaoke night at Casa de Matriz!
Thursday - Baixo Gavea
University Students flood the streets of Baixo Gavea on Thursday night to enjoy some drinks and let off a little steam.
Friday - Lapa
The heart of Rio nightlife is in the downtown area of Lapa. You can pre-game in the streets and listen to all the great live music.
From there, head into one of the popular night clubs like Lapa 40 or Rio Scenarium.
And if you have the opportunity, you gotta experience a Monobloco concert at Fundição Progresso.
Saturday - Samba School
Sunday - Beach, Santa Teresa or Urca
And If you’re still alive on Sunday, you have a few options… You could go to the beach and relax, re-hydrate with a coconut water, and watch the sunset from Arpoador, maybe you’d prefer heading to Santa Teresa, eat a traditional Feijoada and watch the sunset from Hotel Santa Teresa, or you can go down to my favorite neighborhood in all of Rio, Urca, to drink a few beers with friends along the Marina and enjoy the views.
Whatever you decide, just make sure you get enough rest to do it all over again tomorrow.

Its iconic buildings range from its neo-Gothic cathedral and the 1929 Martinelli skyscraper to modernist architect Oscar Niemeyers curvy Edifício Copan. The colonial-style Pátio do Colégio church marks where Jesuit priests founded the city in 1554. The ornate Theatro Municipal hosts symphonic and ballet productions. The Mercado Municipal features cafes and produce stalls in a 1930s building with stained-glass windows. Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, a museum founded in 1905, showcases Brazilian art. South of downtown is Liberdade, a large Japanese cultural district. Bela Vista is home to an Italian community as well as the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art, which exhibits international works in a modern glass structure. The Jardins neighborhood has designer boutiques and upmarket cafes. Ibirapuera Park contains green lawns, lakeside trails and art galleries. // Rio de Janeiro is a huge seaside city in Brazil, famed for its Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado and for Sugarloaf Mountain, a granite peak with cable cars to its summit. The city is also known for its sprawling favelas (shanty towns). Its raucous Carnaval festival, featuring parade floats, flamboyant costumes and samba dancers, is considered the worlds largest. Sporting pursuits include volleyball on Ipanema Beach, surfing at Arpoador and paragliding from the lofty Pedra Bonita viewpoint. Sandy beaches stretch from Guanabara Bay to Barra in the west, all of them with cycle tracks and kiosks selling coconut water. Tijuca National Park features rainforest-covered mountains filled with waterfalls, hiking trails and toucans. Samba, forró and bossa nova bands perform in the bars of the Lapa area. RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Food in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro! #RiodeJaneiro #BrazilianFood #favela
Favela - An unregulated, informal neighborhood in Brazil. There are estimates of as many as 1,000 favelas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Many of the favelas in Rio de Janeiro are full cities within themselves, where nearly everything is available.
It’s without a doubt that a lot of crime and organized underground criminal activity happens and is controlled in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. However, favelas across Brazil are home to some of the most hard working, friendly, happy, and creative people in Brazil as well. So in this video my goal was to meet and to highlight some of the amazing people that call favelas home.
Rocinha - The first favela we visited was Rocinha, the biggest favela in Rio, one of the biggest in Brazil. We met up with Guilherme who took us on a walking tour to some viewpoints and to some Brazilian food places.
Sabor da Roça - The most well known little snack shop on this street in Rocinha, we stopped for a coxinha, one of the top Brazilian food snacks. It was packed with chicken and with some hot sauce it was amazing.
Price - 2.5 BRL ($0.63)
For lunch we stopped at an alleyway restaurant in Rocinha, where he cooked up a lunch set included beef ribs, cassava, pasta, rice, and beans. It was simple, but delicious and hearty.
Price - 10 BRL ($2.52)
Morro da Providência - Favela number two is one of the first favelas of Rio and located in downtown Rio de Janeiro, near the port and up on a hill on the side of the cliff. We met up with Jura, who is an absolute Brazilian food cooking legend and an amazing person.
One of Jura’s most famous dishes is nhoque de camarão, an Italian but Brazilian potato noodles in Jura’s own creation sauce of shrimp and coconut milk. It was simply outstanding, all made from scratch.
But the dish I was most interested in eating and which Jura expertly cooked, again from scratch was her feijoada - often considered the national dish of Brazil, and one of my personal favorite foods of Brazil as well - there are few dishes of the world more comforting than beans and pig parts with rice. When you’re in Brazil, you can eat feijoada at many restaurants, but home-cooked is by far the best.
Thank you Jura and Elena!!
This was one of the best days I had in Brazil in terms of learning, meeting people, and food, and it’s an experience and memories I’ll never forget.
You hear a lot of the negative that comes out of favelas in Brazil, and it is true. However, the positive side and the amazing people, are not often recognized, and it was truly memorable to see and learn about this side of hope in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
