Nelum Kole Restaurant - To begin the day we started off at Nelum Kole Restaurant, a Sri Lankan food restaurant serving a massive buffet of different Sri Lankan food dishes. Overall, the food was good, but not the best Sri Lankan food I had. Flavors tasted too similar to each other. It is a good place to taste variety though.
Dilmah Tea Lounge - After lunch we headed to a Dilmah Tea Lounge and drank a few teas all of which were very good.
Ministry of Crab - Rated as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, Ministry of Crab is one of the most iconic restaurant serving seafood and especially Sri Lankan crabs in Colombo. It’s a high end restaurant, with prices that go with it, but I do have to admit that it was extremely tasty. The river shrimp, the black pepper crab was delicious. Price - about 30,000 LKR ($165.53) per OMG crab - I think it’s overpriced - but it is good.

Luxury SRI LANKA Villa - RAW Vlog #5
We found the ultimate luxury Sri Lanka villa in Ahangama! Set in South Sri Lanka, this incredible villa is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. We will show you a luxury villa house tour of the Thalduwa Island Villas in our latest raw vlog.
Our friends from Sri Lanka invited us to come hang out at their villa, have some drinks, and enjoy a night out in South Sri Lanka. Little did we know, they were staying at one of nicest hotels in Sri Lanka we have ever seen! The Thalduwa Island Villas operate as more of an airbnb and independent rental than a hotel, but you can rent out individual private rooms for a couples retreat or a whole villa to fit 10-16 people! If you’re heading to Ahangama Sri Lanka, especially for some good surf, then we can highly recommend these villas as a luxury travel getaway.
After spending some time hanging out by the pool, drinking some local arrack aka coconut whiskey, and then drinking some more, we called it a night and had to say goodbye to this amazing luxury villa in Sri Lanka.
The next day we went out to lunch with our new favorite couple Dimithri and David! They showed us some really amazing Sri Lankan hospitality over the course of the past two weeks and we couldn’t be more thankful to have them in the DBVFam! The rest of the video is really us just walking the beach near Unawatuna, but we needed to show you that luxury travel in Sri Lanka is extremely possible!
Last but not least, there is ONE WEEK left in the “Top 5 Travel Vloggers for 2019” poll that is live on our website. Go vote for DeathByVlog by clicking this link:
If you want to book this villa you can visit their website here:
Disclaimer: We did not get a free stay or paid to promote for them! We just loved this place and wanted to share a good spot with you.
If you have any questions about South Sri Lanka, where to stay in Sri Lanka, or anything regarding travel, leave us a comment down below and we will answer you promptly! Thanks for watching this raw vlog, stay tuned for a cinematic travel vlog coming in a few days. Until then, seeya!
* We’re Ryan & Stacia from DeathbyVlog. Unlike other travel vloggers, we live and work in a different country each month with a moderate housing budget. Sorry, but no backpacker lifestyle here! Our channel will show you what it’s like to live abroad while exploring top tourist destinations and hidden gems. We will show you mouthwatering local food tours, provide history on each destination, and cinematic broll for all of you film lovers. Each month we rent an apartment or airbnb in a different city or country, so follow along on this journey and learn about countries around the world. We hope you enjoy our travel vlog, don’t forget to subscribe!

So Sri lankaa ???????? (Colombo, Habarana, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Bentota, Beruwala and Galle)
Hello guys, I know it's been a really long break from editing but I am back with another travel video and this time we kicked off 2019 with a trip to Sri Lanka!
Alot of temples, sweaty treks, waterfalls and breathtaking beaches.
If you liked the video, you know the drill!
If you are travelling to Sri Lanka any time soon, down below i have given a brief description about my trip and therefore head start to plan your trip.
So we boarded from Delhi and it took us roughly 4 hours to reach Colombo. Through out this trip, we will be covering 6 major cities of Sri Lanka.
So we hired a minibus from Colombo and travelled to Habarana, which is a 3-hour drive. Habarana is famous for its elephant safari and open grasslands.
Maintain silence when inside the park as there have been incidents where the elephants charge on the jeeps due to annoyance.
We travelled a month later to the terrorist attacks, so apparently, the tourism sector went down and we got personalised services all the time. Plus point!
From Habarana, we started early for the UNESCO World Heritage site, The Sigiriya Rock. It is also considered to be the 8th wonder of the world and the view astonished me with the unique harmony between nature and human imagination. I’ll advise you to hire a local guide to know more about the systematically planned architecture. It is a must visit if you are in Sri Lanka.
The guide also told us there is a long queue for the trek during the peak season, so be well before time.
Next stop was Kandy, which is the hill capital of Sri Lanka. It is a small town situated amidst the hills. The weather was chilly so carry your fleece.
In Kandy, visit the famous temple of the ancient tooth relic, situated in the Royal Complex of the former kingdom of Kandy!
It's a Buddhist temple, so make sure you are covered entirely.
You should visit the local sweet vendors and try their authentic Lankan sweets!
Next in line is Nuwara Eliya, which is apparently is the place where Seeta Maa was held in captivatio also known Ashoka Vatika.. Nuwara Eliya is a hill station so the temperature drops significantly. Do carry warm clothes.
Make sure you visit Lake Gregory, which is the heart of the tea country hill city. It is famous for its tea plantations, so don’t forget to spill some tea, sis.
Shoutout to Indian summer for serving us the best Indian food in Lanka, situated right next to the lake in Nuwara Eliya.
On our way to Nuwara Eliya, we stopped to see the Ramboda waterfall surrounded by the tea plantations.
One can take a quick break, and enjoy the view with some good tea and snacks!
Onto my favourite city, Beruwala has the most chill vibe and one can enjoy water sports and snorkel out there!
We relaxed at the beach and spent the majority of the time in the pool!
Next day, we visited the city of Galle which was a Portuguese town. It has a beautiful aesthetic vibe to it and don’t forget to get clicked near the lighthouse.
Do visit the mama’s cafe, which is the original cafe of a very famous cafe chain in Sri Lanka.
Galle has very vintage shops, so one can buy antiques from there.
One can also visit Mirrisa, for the blue whale sightings in the Indian Ocean. But it’s risky when its raining and the sea is rough.
On our way back we stopped at Bentota for the river safari, which was sad so you can skip it. I’ll advise you to spend your time at the beach, and watch the sun go down.
The last day we planned to visit, Colombo, where one can do a day tour and visit the Odel mall for souvenirs.
Sri Lanka is a small and beautiful place to visit. Don’t forget to drink there most special coconut water.
Also be careful with the spices, because they have their meals cooked in a lot of spices.
Pinnawala Elephant Freedom Project Sri Lanka | Vlog | #009
We made it to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Sri Lanka to be precise the Elephant Freedom Project. The projects has one elephant that is being saved from mistreatment in one of the several elephant riding places in Pinnawala. We really had a great time with the elephant called Nilame.

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA - Sri Lankan food is known for crabs, and you’ll find some of the best mud crabs you’ll ever try in Sri Lanka. One of the top places to eat Sri Lankan crab curry is The Station, a seafood restaurant and bar along the ocean in Colombo. During out best of Sri Lankan food tour ( this was the first meal we had, and it was outstanding.
I met up with Uchith ( Nick ( and Lakki ( who showed me the restaurant and took me to the kitchen to watch as they made their entire family recipe for Sri Lankan crab curry, using huge 1.5 kg. Sri Lankan mud crabs. It was fascinating and a learning experiences to watch all the different steps and the complicated ingredients used in their recipe.
As I kept watching the Sri Lankan crab curry being made, I could hardly contain my excitement or mouth juices!
Our entire group came, and they started bringing out more dishes - not just the Sri Lankan crab curry, but river prawns fried in black pepper, and spiny lobster hollowed out and re-added to its shell. It was stunningly good. Along with Sri Lankan food, The Station also has a few of their own unique, Sri Lankan fusion seafood dishes, including favorites like hot butter squid.
Sri Lankan crab curry - we had one pan of their original Sri Lankan family recipe crab curry, and one pan of their extra spicy crab curry. Both were outstanding, but I loved the original for the spice blend and balance and how all the juices soaked up into the crab, it was outstanding.
The Sri Lankan food and crab curry was outstanding, the people, our entire group, and the owners of The Station are incredible people as well. Thank you to The Station, Nick, Uchitch and Lakki.

Sri Lanka is a year-round holiday destination with two monsoon seasons and is home to some incredible beaches on both sides of the island. If you want to go to the south and west coast of Sri Lanka the best time to visit is from December to April. For the east coast the time between April and August is best.
We start our journey in Beruwala and Bentota, this very long sand beach is without any doubt one of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka and only a 2h drive from the capital. The next stops are the beaches of Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna close to Galle.
Further down south you can find Mirissa, a relaxed little town which is a popular starting point for whale watching, too. Afterwards it’s time to spot some wildlife in the Yala National Park which has also a beach...but swimming is not allowed, so we’ll go for a leopard safari instead.
The east coast of Sri Lanka is still fairly unknown, therefore I decided to show you this part of the island more in-depth starting with Arugam Bay, a popular surf spot. Pasikudah is a longer drive to the north which is totally worth it - the locals even state it is the most beautiful beach in Sri Lanka!
Our last stop is Trincomalee in the north east of the country with its wide beaches of Uppuveli and Nilaveli. A short boat ride off the main land you should visit Pigeon island which has not only a beautiful beach but an incredible maritime life…so make sure to bring some snorkeling gear!
This part of the trip was executed within 2weeks by using buses, trains, cars and a domestic flight (Trincomalee-Colombo) - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do on the coast of Sri Lanka:
- Beruwala
- Bentota
- Hikkaduwa
- Unawatuna
- Mirissa
- Yala & Yala National Park
- Arugam Bay
- Batticaloa & Kattankudy
- Kumana National Park
- Kudumbigala sanctuary
- Pasikuda
- Trincomalee
- Uppuveli
- Nilaveli
- Pigeon Island

Best Places to Visit in Sri Lanka | Sri Lanka Tourism
Sri Lanka may be a small island in the Indian Ocean but that’s the only thing small about it. The country, formerly known as Ceylon, boasts an ancient civilization, golden sandy beaches with their swaying coconut palms, mountains, and rubber and tea plantations. While visiting the island, you’ll see colonial architecture from the days when the Portuguese, Dutch and English ruled. You’ll see lots of elephants, some of which participate in local festivals and, if you’re lucky, perhaps a leopard or two at a wildlife sanctuary. An overview of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka
