Arbor Day at Thousand Oaks 2010 Part Two.mpg
Berkeley, CA The City of Berkeley celebrated its first day as an official Tree City, USA today by planting 13 young trees on and around Thousand Oaks Elementary School in North Berkeley. In a joint City and Berkeley Unified School District effort, Thousand Oaks students learned about the critical importance of trees in our environment, as well as proper tree planting techniques from local expert arborists, school district employees and Berkeley Parks Department staff.
With student sitting on the branches of a large nearby tree applauding, Berkeley City Councilmember Laurie Capitelli accepted the official Tree City, USA banner from a representative for the National Arbor Day Foundation, the sponsors of the program. He thanked all the children, community members and staff who participated in the event and invited everyone to join him in the next neighborhood planting, which will be announced shortly.

Codornices Creek
Expressions of wonderment at nature's seemingly inexhaustible bounty of water emanating from high up in the Berkeley Hills. Through parks, neighborhoods and business and residential backyards, Codornices Creek flows through Berkeley and Albany pretty much as it always has; it remains only one of a handful of nearly a dozen primordial area creeks that sees the light of day on its meandering journey from hilltop, through flatlands, to its drainage system in the Bay.

5 Best Theme Parks in Northern California
What would family travel be without theme parks? The laughs! The screams! The thrills! The chills! These destinations are some of the only places where families are guaranteed to have fun. Even if your kids aren’t big enough for rides, parks always offer something that will keep little ones smiling.
Residents of San Francisco often suffer from what I like to call theme-park envy. The two most iconic parks—Disneyland® and LEGOLAND® California—are located in the southern part of the state. Thankfully, for those of us within a two-hour drive of the Bay Area, there are smaller alternatives that are just as fun.
Let's see five theme parks in Northern California, United States.
1. Fairyland
2. Fairytale Town
3. California’s Great America
4. Discovery Kingdom
5. Safari West

berkeley coast live oak tree protest
a photographer was taking pics of people in the 100 year old coast live oak trees to highlight how beautiful they are. while slightly sensational/granola, its clearly better than enlarging the stadium. can't they do that where the parking lot is?

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Berkeley ( BURK-lee) is a city on the east shore of San Francisco Bay in northern Alameda County, California. It is named after the 18th-century Irish bishop and philosopher George Berkeley. It borders the cities of Oakland and Emeryville to the south and the city of Albany and the unincorporated community of Kensington to the north. Its eastern border with Contra Costa County generally follows the ridge of the Berkeley Hills. The 2010 census recorded a population of 112,580.
Berkeley is home to the oldest campus in the University of California system, the University of California, Berkeley, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which is managed and operated by the University.
