Drinking the Most Expensive Coffee – $300/Pound
Geisha Coffee is the most expensive coffee in the world. It will sell for $200-$300 per pound, that's $500-$700 per kilogram. In Panama, it goes for about $10 per cup IF you can find it. And in other countries it is several times more expensive – think above $50 per cup. WHAT THE…
So obviously the last thing I had to do in Boquete was to drink this coffee…to see what it is all about! Geisha coffee is from Gesha, Ethiopia, but grows really well here in the highlands of Panama. Geisha is used heavily in barista competitions. The saying is that people use sugar and milk to mask the taste of coffee…but with Geisha Coffee, one does not have to do that...
So the official Neng Now review:
Now let it be known that I am not a coffee expert by any means. But as a coffee drinker, I did like it. I am no connoisseur, but I could taste the difference. Geisha Coffee is a bit lighter than “normal” coffee – you could say that it’s like if Coffee and Tea had a baby together! It has a lingering flowery and almost orange-y aroma. But on the contrary, if you don't like coffee, you would probably still want to add milk and sugar...which would make any Geisha connoisseur hate you :P
Thank you to Iwanna Boquete and Don Pepe Estates for the amazing tour and coffee – I will be back soon for more coffee...and for the views from the base of Volcano Baru!
Like Neng Now on fb and insta :)
P.S. This is the most expensive coffee that doesn’t go through some weird poop. Like literally poop. There’s coffee that has passed through an elephant (like eaten and pooped out) that will sell for thousands of dollars or something…but that’s a video for another time... #funfacts

It is planted solely in Gesha—pairing this legendary coffee varietal and the extreme altitude—which yields a one of a kind coffee. Our first harvest of Finca Sophia was fortunate enough to be named a Good Food Awards winner in 2016.
