Eclipse 2012 footage from Mareeba
Video footage of the 2012 total solar eclipse, shot West of Mareeba & Cairns. We had two video cameras running. At some point I turned one around to view the surrounds and I guess our reaction. A bit rough but I was mindful of people that have missed seeing an eclipse because they were fussing with their gear. Apologies in particular for the poor eclipse totality video, I've spliced some NASA footage in to give you a better idea of what we actually saw. Mind you, even this footage fails miserably in conveying what we saw, and felt. Probably the eeriest yet most spectacular event I've witnessed. That freaky black hole in the sky surrounded by surreal, twisting tendrils of bright light. It's a cliche, and I avoid these at all costs, but everyone needs to see one of these in their lifetimes.
