Col de la Cayolle, Barcelonnette - FR - T2058.40
Alpes climb Col de la Cayolle
Probably the most scenic Tacx Films made in 2016 and a really amazing ride for anyone interested in cycling the Alps. Starts just north of Barcelonnette with a long gorge ride that leads to a higher alpine valley. The clim goes through pine forests and out onto the final section with some amazing views of the Maritime Alpes. The profile is not too hard staying below 9% for most of it and with the harder sections being fairly short and spaced out.

About Col de la Cayolle from Barcelonnette:
Col de la Cayolle from Barcelonnette is one of the most scenic rides in the Southern French Alps. The ride is part of the bucket list loop, which also takes you over Col des Champs and Col d’Allos. It is also part of the legendary ‘Route des Grandes Alpes’. You start in Barcelonnette with a flat segment to warm up your legs. As the road gets steeper, the scenery starts to take off. Now you are in an alpine wonderland. You ride narrow roads and cross small bridges. This ride is a rare gem and few people ride this road. The location is far away from big cities and airports. With few cars on this road, this ride is truly a cyclist’s Nirvana. Once you reach Col de la Cayolle you can enjoy the view even more, and take a well-deserved rest.

Adding music to the ride:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, YouTube, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...

Dangerously speeding over mountainpass of Col de la Cayolle France on the D2202
English // Extreme cold made this mountainpass still very dangerous with walls of snow to either side of my car. Col de la Cayolle (el. 2,326 m) is a high mountain pass in the French Alps at the border between the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in France. It connects Barcelonnette in the Ubaye Valley and Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes. It lies parallel to the Col d'Allos and Col de la Bonette in the Parc National du Mercantour. The Var River has its source near the pass. The road leads to the red-rock Gorges de Daluis. From there one reaches the Rivièra at the Mediterranean
