Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory & Cold Hollow Cider Mill - RV Living Travel Day - Waterbury, VT
On this travel day we move through Waterbury, Vermont, tasting all the delicious food that Vermont is known for. Our first stop is Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory. Here we sample the flavor of the day, watch how the ice cream is packaged, and explore the flavor graveyard. Next we check out Cold Hollow Cider Mill. Here the kids learn how apple cider is made, and we taste apple cider and delicious apple cider doughnuts. We were able to bring our RV into the parking lots at each of these places, but spaces were tight and the roads were narrow. We didn't show it in the video, but Cabot Cheese is also in Waterbury and makes delicious cheeses!

Cold Hollow Cider Mill
A short clip of the people at Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury Center, Vermont making cider. The music playing in the background seems very out of place. :) Recorded April 4, 2015. If you ever go here, you must try the cider doughnuts!!!

This drive in the southwestern corner of Vermont is not a loop; you will need to double back to return to the start or step off the route where ever you choose. This drive also dips into northwestern Massachusetts to visit the delightful town of Williamstown. The Vermont towns of Manchester and Bennington are cherished for their classic New England beauty structures, and for their fine museums, dining and shopping. Take all or a part of the drive, which includes a very outdoorsy side trip to the pristine Somerset Reservoir. This drive has lots of digressions for dining and wining.
This loop drives starts and ends at the bustling, hippie-period-redux town of Brattleboro, with lots of good dining, fun shops, and a circus school, and travels on and around Route 9, also called the Molly Stark Byway. The drive passes through the Mount Snow ski area, which offers scenic chair life rides on the Bluebird Express daily during foliage season. You will pass through delightful towns like Newfane and Whitingham, and the views all along the way are guaranteed to be spectacular if the weather cooperates.
Lakes Bomoseen and St. Catherine Loop -- 55 miles
This drive is actually two intersecting loops, forming a figure eight, so you can shorten or lengthen the entire drive as you see fit. The loops travel around Lake Bomoseen, Birdseye Mountain, and Lake St. Catherine. A neat side trip takes you to Proctor, where you can learn about and marvel at the state’s historic marble quarrying industry. Also, tour a real castle!
Upper Connecticut River Valley Loop -- 115 miles
This loop is a large north-south oval in east-central Vermont, starting and ending in the beautiful town of Woodstock and passing through the Killington ski area. A small side trip takes you to the dramatic Quechee Gorge, also known as Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon, with fun souvenir shopping right nearby. You can shorten the drive easily by doing only pieces of the loop.
Stowe and Northern Mountains Loop -- 60 miles
This drive starts and ends at Stowe and its world-famous ski mountain, where, in the fall, you can take a gondola sky ride and see the fall foliage from above as you warm up the seat for wintertime skiers coming up next. Also near Stowe are two waterfalls, where adventurous people may hike or take photos or have a picnic. The drive also passes one of the state's parks, with a beautiful mountain lake. Prepare for classic images of Vermont’s Green Mountains. Also, a quick, 6-mile side-trip down Route 100, directly south of Stowe like a tail on this drive loop, is Waterbury Center, a sweet place, partly because of the presence of Cold Hollow Cider Mill.

Cabot Creamery Visitor's Center
In Cabot, VT, you can visit the Cabot Cheese Visitor Center. At the visitor center, you can watch a movie about how their cheese is made and the history of the company, sample a large variety of different cheeses, and of course purchase many different products either for yourselves or as gifts.
The Visitor Center does not do tours anymore as of 2018; however, the movie is interesting and they do have picnic tables outside where you can try out the cheese you bought! We actually stopped here and made sampling the cheese products our lunch for the day.

VERMONT HARVEST HOST and Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour
The Green Mountains of Vermont have a lot to offer RVer's passing through. Ben & Jerry's Factory tour is a must and lots of Harvest Hosts choices. We are there for two days/nights and post up at Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury (near Smuggler's Notch State Park, Ben & Jerry's, Green Mountain Coffee, Cabot Cheese Co and Whistle Pig tasting room). We also spend a night a Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks in Montpelier. We spent a small fortune on real maple syrup and love the maple soft serve ice cream or creamees as they call it. Both Harvest Host locations are fantastic and have a lot to offer. Both highly recommended. If you have questions about our Harvest Hosts experience, please leave a comment below. Also, if you decide to sign up, please use our referral code for a 10% discount for the annual fee.

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory Tour - Waterbury, Vermont - Travels With Phil
In this video you get to take the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory Tour in Waterbury, Vermont. You get to see almost all of the operation, including the Flavor Graveyard. Ben & Jerry's trivia: why is the ice cream so chunky? Ben has severe anosmia, a lack of a sense of smell or taste. So, in order for him to taste it, it has to be big!. - Travels with Phil copyrighted by Phil Konstantin -
