Colditz Castle (Schloss Colditz) Tour, Near Leipzig, Germany
A brief history and tour of Colditz Castle in the state of Saxony, Germany. This 16th century castle was notorious as Oflag IV-C, a German prison camp for Allied officer POWs during World War II. Many escape attempts were made, and prisoners sewed and dyed German uniforms to disguise their escapes. Most famous of all was the 2-man glider prisoners built in the attic to attempt to fly off the roof to freedom.

Staying at Colditz Castle, Youth Hostel & Museum - A Great Escape
When you travel there are some places you want to escape from and some you can't. During WWII Colditz Castle was famous as a POW camp that captured officers competed with each other to try and escape from. Today it is part of the German Youth Hostels network, Jugendherbergen in Deutschland and anyone can stay there.
On our recent #castlehostels tour of Youth Hostels in Germany we stopped off at Jugendherberge Schloss Colditz (Colditz Youth Hostel) to stay in the castle and learn more about its history.
In a guided tour of the Castle museum you can learn about the famous 'Escape Academy, see some of the original escape tunnels and view a replica of the glider built in the attic for one of the most audacious escapes ever planned.
It was a great place to stay. To bring it all to life we even watched The Colditz Story movie in the castle, in our hostel room before bed, by which time we had no energy or desire to escape! Check out this video and tell us if you'd like to make a great escape and visit Colditz.

Escapes from Colditz Castle
Colditz Castle is famous in WW2 history as the Bad Boys POW camp, where Allied POWs were sent who had attempted to escape from another camp. Were they able to get out of this escape proof camp?
We highly recommend that you schedule a visit to Colditz Castle if you are in the area. You can see incredible artifacts and visit many parts of the castle that are closed to the public.

Commandos 2 - Castle Colditz - Speedrun (Very Hard, all bonus books, objectives)
In-game time: 14:26
Mission-specific rules:
- No bug that involves passing the castle's locked back door without key.
- All prisoners must be rescued (the objective is marked as complete after you rescue the majority of them, but not necessarily all)
Rules:
- In-game time is the only goal. Inventories, objectives list and pause don't waste time.
- All bonus books.
- All objectives - Secondary and Clues. Since the mission result screen doesn't keep track of Clues, objectives list must be opened during the mission to showcase all Clues as completed (I forgot to do it in this mission but it's impossible to not complete them).
- Not being detected and not being injured, the former means that must not be fully seen by the enemies at any point (even unarmed ones and snipers), but blue-red flashing is allowed.
- No alarm. Events that normally raise the alarm are allowed in alarm-insensitive areas. If explosions are required by the objectives, they're allowed at the end of the mission (within last minute).
- No shooting enemies, except for using the sniper rifle. Also, the default pistol is allowed for distracting the enemies.
- No Ctrl glitch (harpoon on land, Natasha's undetectable sniper rifle), no Syringe glitch (affecting an enemy far away).
