A New Result/Carry On/Reprise | Sara Hallie Richardson & Amarantos Quartet | TEDxDirigo
Conceived as a reinvention of the string quartet, Amarantos Quartet joins with singer/songwriter Sara Hallie Richardson to tingle audiences’ spines and expand their aural universe.
Amarantos Quartet members, Hannah Schroeder Jackson
(cello), Meagan McIntyre (violin), Lauren Hastings Genova
(violin), and Anna Maria Amoroso-Noyes (viola) embark
on a collaboration with singer and songwriter, Sara Hallie
Richardson. This collaboration celebrates not just the mutual
respect for one another’s musical talents and work, but also the
friendship and life-long relationships that are forged through
music making. Since Amarantos came together in Portland,
Maine in 2013, the group has performed at The Tonight Show
with Jimmy Fallon twice, first with pop artist Halsey and again
in December of 2017 with St. Vincent; the TEDxDirigo Mavericks and Misfits; on The Cold River Radio Show; at The Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center; and also regularly throughout
Maine. Portland, Maine based singer/songwriter, Richardson performs and writes music through folk, indie, and electronic styles. With influences such as Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, and Bjork, her
songs are known for dense vocal harmonies and soaring melodies as well as combining synthetic and acoustic orchestral sounds. A genre-bending and genre-defining project, the Amarantos Quartet applies sounds to Richardson’s unique and vast songwriting and vocal skills. Each player works tirelessly to arrange, promote, and grow this exciting, dream-come-true enterprise. Miles Davis
Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 28, 1991) was an American jazz musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer. Widely considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Miles Davis was, together with his musical groups, at the forefront of several major developments in jazz music, including bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, and jazz fusion.
In 2006, Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which recognized him as one of the key figures in the history of jazz. In 2008, his 1959 album Kind of Blue received its fourth platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for shipments of at least four million copies in the United States. On December 15, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a symbolic resolution recognizing and commemorating the album Kind of Blue on its 50th anniversary, honoring the masterpiece and reaffirming jazz as a national treasure.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Vanderbilt University (informally Vandy) is a private research university in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1873, it was named in honor of shipping and rail magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, who provided the school its initial $1 million endowment despite having never been to the South. Vanderbilt hoped that his gift and the greater work of the university would help to heal the sectional wounds inflicted by the Civil War.Vanderbilt enrolls approximately 12,800 students from all 50 U.S. states and over 100 foreign countries in four undergraduate and six graduate and professional schools. The university is in the process of converting its residence halls into an academic residential college system. Several research centers and institutes are affiliated with the university, including the Robert Penn Warren Center for the Humanities, Freedom Forum First Amendment Center, and Dyer Observatory. Vanderbilt University Medical Center, formerly part of the university became a separate institution in 2016. Despite its urban surroundings, the campus itself is a national arboretum and features over 300 different species of trees and shrubs.
The Fugitives and Southern Agrarians were based at the university in the first half of the 20th century and helped revive Southern literature among others.
