Bigger than Big Ben, a whole lot closer to home! The Colgate Clock at Clarksville, Indiana held the title of worlds second largest clock for decades, the only bigger one was the Colgate clock in New Jersey that's 50 feet in diameter as opposed to 40. The more well known Big Ben clock, in London, England, is only 23 feet in diameter. Today, the Colgate clock at Clarksville, Indiana is the 8th largest clock in the world.

The Colgate Company was once famous for having two of the largest clocks in the world. This specific clock in Indiana has slowly moved down the list, but is still a monstrosity, its octagonal face measuring 12.19 meters in diameter. Designed by Warren Day, this was the original Colgate Clock built in 1906 by the Seth Thomas Clock Company for the original factory in New Jersey. As mentioned before, the clock was replaced in 1924. This clock was moved to the new company location in Indiana and introduced for the first time there in 1924. According to the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, this clock and its building, which was built in 1821, are both on the 10 Most Endangered Landmarks list for the state.

The current Colgate Clock was built in 1924 to replace an earlier clock designed by Colgate engineer Warren Davey, which was constructed by the Seth Thomas Clock Company for Colgate's centennial in 1906. After the current clock's construction, the earlier clock was relocated to a Colgate factory in Clarksville, Indiana. The Jersey City clock was maintained by John A. Winters from the 1930s until his retirement in 1976.
As of 2005, the Colgate Clock stands on an otherwise empty lot; all of the other buildings in the complex were demolished in 1985 when Colgate left. The lot is located on the Hudson River waterfront and the clock itself is 100 metres (330 ft) south of the Goldman Sachs Tower, the tallest skyscraper in the state of New Jersey. The construction of that building in the early 2000s forced a relocation of the clock southward to its current location. At that time, the size of the Colgate advertisement attached to it was reduced to comply with the Hudson River No Billboard law. As a part of the relocation agreement Goldman Sachs now maintains the clock.
The clock is a mandatory reporting point for flights below Class B airspace in the Hudson River VFR corridor.
In 2013, the clock was refurbished, outfitted with LED lights, and reinstalled on the waterfront near the Goldman-Sachs tower

Falls of the Ohio State Park, Clarksville, Indiana
The Falls of the Ohio River is a 26-foot drop in the Ohio River along two miles that presented a navigation barrier to early riverboat traffic - although the falls are better characterized as a series of rapids than a true, dramatic waterfall.
The river here cuts through a series of limestone shelves that date back 386 million years to the Devonian period. Locks and low dams now divert the river from some of these shelves, revealing fossils of early plants and animals that existed prior to the Late Devonian extinction.
The falls are now a National Natural Landmark and the area is part of the Falls of the Ohio National Wildlife Conservation Area. An area of exposed fossil-bearing limestone is the highlight of Indiana's Falls of the Ohio State Park.
The Lewis & Clark Expedition had origins here. Meriwether Lewis and Willam Clark first met here, and were quartered at the home of George Rogers Clark here, where they recruited and trained members of their expedition to explore the American West.
Their Corps of Discovery left Clarksville on October 26, 1803. Lewis and Clark returned here on November 5, 1806.
