Cruise Ship Tour of College Fjord Alaska
This video showcases College Fjord located in the rugged wilderness of Prince William Sound Alaska. I was able to tour the fjord via cruise ship, as most people do. College Fjord has dozens of glaciers in all varieties including tidewater glaciers, large valley glaciers and hanging glaciers (see my other video showing these). Standing in one place on the cruise ship you could see up to 8 glaciers at one time -- incredible! If you like this College Fjord tour video then make sure to give it a thumbs up!

College Fjord Alaska is 22 nautical miles from the port of Whittier. In virtually all respects College Fjord is the most impressive collection of tidewater glaciers I have even seen. The grand lady of glaciers is Marjorie Glacier which extends upstream for more than 21 miles and is 2 miles wide at its widest point. While many glaciers are receding this glacier is stable (very active and moving but enough snowfall at the source means it is neither advancing or retreating). Other glaciers fed from this source are actually advancing. Its an ethereal sight to see and thus we set this to a more classical score... Enjoy!

Skagway is a first-class borough in Alaska, on the Alaska Panhandle. It was formerly a city first incorporated in 1900 that was re-incorporated as a borough on June 25, 2007. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city was 862. However, the population doubles in the summer tourist season in order to deal with more than 900,000 visitors. The port of Skagway is a popular stop for cruise ships, and the tourist trade is a big part of the business of Skagway. The White Pass and Yukon Route narrow gauge railroad, part of the area's mining past, is now in operation purely for the tourist trade and runs throughout the summer months. Skagway is also part of the setting for Jack London's book The Call of the Wild.
This video begins in downtown Skagway along Broadway Avenue. Here I take a look at the Golden North Hotel and other historic buildings in town. Also in the video is a glimpse of the White Pass & Yukon Railway. A journey I took back in 1994 on my first trip to Alaska, but not today. The video concludes on the Sapphire Princess as we sail away down the Lynn Canal.

College Fjord is a fjord located in the northern sector of Prince William Sound in the U.S. state of Alaska. The fjord contains five tidewater glaciers (glaciers that terminate in water), five large valley glaciers, and dozens of smaller glaciers, most named after renowned East Coast colleges. College Fjord was discovered in 1899 during the Harriman Expedition, at which time the glaciers were named.
This short video covers my brief visit to the area on the Sapphire Princess.
