Collie, Western Australia
Boxing Day and we're all set for our Road Trip down south to Collie, which is located 200kms south of Perth, with a quick stop at Wellington Dam Hydro Power Station on the way down.
There's fantastic views from the viewing areas across the dam and a great picnic parkland close by for the kids to have a run around and enjoy lunch.
Arrived in the south west town of Collie, Western Australia, 213 kilometres south of Perth, and 59 kilometres inland from Bunbury.
It's located near the junction of the Collie and Harris Rivers, in the middle of dense jarrah forest and has the only coalfields in Western Australia.
A beautiful town with a rail display located right next Collie Visitor Centre, an underground Replica Mine Tour with access via the visitor centre, great skate park and many great parklands around the town centre.
We then headed out to Wickepin though Collie I had never visited the town of Darkan, Western Australia however the kids absolutely loved the Christmas displays set up within this area by local farmers along Coalfields Rd.
Collie Pictorial - Western Australia.
Collie is a nice small town with a mix of old and new buildings. There a great old train display at the visitor centre well worth a look. Also a museum up a bit further nearby.

♥♥♥Follow me through our adventures in Collie, Western Australia♥♥♥
Honeymoon Pool is a campsite, swimming spot and day use area by the Collie River. You’ll find it deep in the dense old-growth jarrah forest of Wellington National Park, down in the lower Collie River Valley along narrow winding roads.
Black Diamond Lake is a beautiful, crystal clear lake which was once an open cut coal mine. On a bright sunny day, it shines a vibrant blue colour.

FIFO to Bunbury Vlog Ep.71 Road Trip Australia
We worked FIFO on a gold mine!
We’ve just finished up 2 months of work on a gold mine, in the goldfields of Western Australia.
We can’t get into specifics on which job and exactly where we worked as it has a strict social media policy but we can say that it was a FIFO roster being 4:1. We worked 10 hour days, 13 day fortnight for 4 weeks. Then we got one week off back in Perth. Fortunately for us, we managed to score Christmas week as our week back in Perth. Our friends Vic & Amanda made us feel so welcome joining them for the Christmas festivities, along with their friends.
Our contract was casual, and we only had to do 2 swings which worked out perfectly for us.
The work was construction????, which was very cruisey and we were both employed as electricians. We officially finished up at the end of January. Getting this job was good, it fitted in perfectly with what we were seeking and we met plenty of legends out on site.
Stockton Lake (Collie, WA)
Was a great campsite to spend our first few nights ‘officially back on the road’. Located approx 2 hours south/east of Perth and only an hour from Mandurah.
Plenty of space to spread about and it is DOG FRIENDLY. It is $8 per person, per night with toliets and bins around the campground.
Stockton lake use to be an old coal mine, hence the turquoise water. It is safe to swim in and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here.
Next stop Bunbury, Busselton & surrounds!
After stockton lake, we headed towards Bunbury, but made had to make one important detour. To visit Gnomesville Amz had wanted to visit here since the start of our trip. It was quite amusing wandering around all the different gnomes. Alot more then we expected there to be.
We then made it to Bunbury. We headed into the town city and straight to the visitors centre. Currently Bunbury, is offering permits for self contained campers, to free camp, in a handful of designated spots around the town. We grabbed a permit and found a nice spot to park up for the night at Wyalup point.
With our camp-spot for the night locked in, we walked into town and roamed up and down the main street. Returning home via the lighthouse and along the beach. Our mates the Roving Russo's told us about a place that does half price pizza’s across town on Thursday nights. We looked it up on our maps and saw it was 10km away.
Weighing up our options, we agreed if we could get our bicycles going, we would ride there. Luckily after a few squirts of WD40 Kurt managed to unseize alot of the parts and getting them moving. We rode the 10kms there and back, turned out to be a great idea, as we got to see more of the city and foreshore.
The next day, we visited the popular Bunbury Farmers Market . We had been told by ALOT of people how good this place was, and well, it lived up to all the hype. WE LOVED IT! Stocking up both our fridges with heaps of fruit and veg, an assortment of meat, dips, cheeses, pastas etc. We even purchased some sneaky choc croissants for a post-shop snack, that were delish! We’ll definitely be stopping by here again.

Collie, Western Australia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Population:
7,084 (2006)[1]
Established: 1897
213 km (132 mi) S of Perth
59 km (37 mi) E of Bunbury
Collie is a town in the South West region of Western Australia, 213 kilometres (132 mi) south of the state capital, Perth, and 59 kilometres (37 mi) inland from the regional city and port of Bunbury. It is near the junction of the Collie and Harris Rivers, in the middle of dense jarrah forest and the only coalfields in Western Australia. At the 2006 census, Collie had a population of 7,084.[1]
Collie is mainly known as a coal-producing centre, but also offers industrial, agricultural and aquaculture tourism industries. Muja Power station is located east of the town, and to its west is the Wellington Dam, a popular location for fishing, swimming and boating.
James Stirling named the town after the river on which it is situated, which in turn is named after Dr Alexander Collie. He and William Preston were the first Europeans to explore the area in 1829.
Coal was discovered in the area by a shepherd named George March in the early 1880s. The coal fields were developed in the late 1890s and the townsite surveyed and gazetted in 1897.[3]
Collie was once referred to as a dirty mining town,[4] but on 8 April 2006 it won the Australian Tidy Towns Competition from finalists from six States and the Northern Territory.[5] Collie was named the top Tidy Town because of the commitment of the community to recycling, waste management, beautification and community projects.

[edit] Industry and economy
Collie has a significant role in the provision of electricity for Western Australia. There are two coal mines in the town and two power stations. The government of Western Australia will soon commission a new base load power station, for which a number of Collie base proposals have been made.
Initially Western Collieries, the Wesfarmers Premier Coal mine continues to produce 3-4 million tonnes of coal per year.[6] It contains enough reserves for another 100 years of mining at the present rate.[6] The Griffin Coal mine is owned by Ric Stowe.[7]
[edit] Education
Collie has four primary schools, Fairview Primary School, Amaroo Primary School, Saint Brigid's Catholic College and Wilson Park Primary School, and one high school, Collie Senior High School.
[edit] Tourism and facilities
Tourist attractions at Collie include the Steam Locomotive Museum, Collie Museum and Wellington Dam. Parks include Soldier's Memorial Park and natural features include Stockton Lake and Collie River.
Collie also hosts the Kostecki Motorplex, one of Western Australia's only permanent motorsport venues outside the Perth metropolitan area.

Console whimpering puppies, minimise separation anxiety, reduce hyperactivity, minimise fear of thunderstorms, stop unwanted barking, comfort sick or injured dogs and calm your dog on car journeys - Relax my Dog does it all!
Relax My Dog's sound sweep technology is the high pitched noise that runs through a lot of our melodies. Many people believe that dogs hear two to three times more than humans - which isn't true. Actually, dogs hear the same as us - just two to three octaves higher. The sound sweep in our music is designed the same as a dog whistle - to hold your dogs attention to the music.
Relax My Dog’s music is unique, and will help in a variety of situations as a substitute for medication. We have helped thousands of dogs and puppies worldwide to sleep and reduce their anxiety. Music therapy for your dog can keep them calm, happy and healthy, and it is a great way to rehabilitate rescue dogs - or just get your puppy or dog used to their new home.
Being re-homed is an incredibly stressful time for dogs - as they have to get used to a lot of different sights and sounds, as well as their new family and any other pets in the household. We recommend that you play Relax My Dog during this time, and it will help reduce their heart rate and relax them while they explore their new surroundings. No more whimpering puppies - they will get used to your home in no time at all with the help of Relax My Dog's music!
You may be crate training or obedience training, which can be a stressful time for both dog and parent, and our music will soothe your pup making your life easier. Crate training can be one of the hardest things about getting a new puppy - as being trapped in a new space and away from you is very scary for them. However, when listening to Relax My Dog you will notice your puppy start to relax, and get more used to their crate.
It is also very useful to calm your dog during car journeys - which many dogs find a stressful time. They may associate it with vets visits - so we recommend playing Relax My Dog's music before and after visits to the vet to reduce their stress.
The worst time of year for over 60% of dogs is Firework season - the loud bangs are really scary for them and you may notice a huge change in your dog during this time. Thunderstorms are another difficult time for dogs, with the majority of dogs being very scared of storms because of the unfamiliar loud noises. Relax My Dog is the perfect solution to this anxiety inducing situation - just play our firework and thunderstorm playlist to reduce your dogs anxiety and make them feel safe.
The most common problem we hear is separation anxiety in dogs, they are pack animals and see their owners as their pack - being separated from you can cause severe anxiety in many dogs. Relax My Dog’s music has improved thousands of cases of separation anxiety and barking canines all over the world - just play them our music when you leave to go to the shops or out of the room, and you will notice a lot less barking and whimpering from your four-legged friend!
So whether you have a Pug, Labrador, Pomeranian, Shi Tzu, Terrier or Great Dane - any breed can become relaxed and calm when listening to Relax My Dog. We are also on a number of social media platforms - so join our community and let's chat! We love to hear about and see pictures of your doggies!
