Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show - Carving for Monash Children's Hospital
Our new little mate Georgie is one happy young lady as she outbid the crowd to take home a piece of chainsaw art carved by our mate Brandon Kroon. Thanks to the generosity of the visitors to the STIHL #recharge retreat, we raised $854.35 that went to the Monash Children's Hospital, cancer ward.

Deady Tiger Snake in kids playground in Melbourne
The Melbourne Snake Catcher has recently been called to catch deadly Tiger Snakes in kids playgrounds in Fitzroy North, Ruffey Park (Templestowe), St. Kilda, Abbottsford Convent. Collingwood Childrens Farm and childcare centres at Donvale, Avondale Heights and Keilor and the snake season has barely begun. Do not copy what you see in this video as only the Snakeman Raymond Hoser is crazy enough to catch and kiss a Tiger Snake and has the snake handling skills to be able to do this and not get bitten and die. Raymond Hoser was the first government licensed snake catcher in Australia and has been caching hundreds of deadly snakes, year in and year out for many decades. He is also the world's foremost snake expert, having published nine major books, hundreds and peer reviewed scientific papers and contributed to many others. He has also discovered and named dozens of species of snake, being more than anyone else born over the past 150 years, including species of Death Adder, Brown Snake, Cobra, Krait, Rattlesnakes, True Vipers, Tree Snakes, Blind Snakes, Pythons, boas and crowned snakes. The Snakeman has been keeping Melbourne safe for decades and most other licensed snake controllers and catchers in Australia have been trained and educated by Raymond Hoser.

Tourist In Your Own Town: Collingwood
How to spend a day in Collingwood
Collingwood became one of Melbourne’s first suburbs in the 1850s and was once known as a rough industrial area until it was gentrified at the turn of the 21st century. These days Collingwood is home to range of trendy bars, cool cafes and hidden art galleries, but spending a day in Collingwood can also be a truly unique experience.
Nestled into the cusp of Abbotsford and Collingwood the Abbotsford Convent is a beautiful place to picnic, learn a new skill or relax and read a book. As you walk into the grounds of the Abbotsford Convent, you will feel an instant sense of serenity. The land was important meeting place for the Wurundjeri people, long before the convent was built in the 1800s, where it was established as a home farm for women in need. In 1997 the public launched a campaign against a major property developer who had planned to build apartments on the site, and after seven years the government gifted the site to the public and it became a cultural hub where you can now take lessons in creative writing, baking or painting. Perhaps you’d prefer to join a yoga session, indulge in a massage or get lunch at one of the cafes on the grounds. Entry is free to the Abbotsford Convent, but visitors are encouraged to donate to keep the grounds maintained.
When the convent was sold, the farmland was separated in the sale and in 1979 Collingwood Children’s Farm opened its doors. The farm is home to cows, sheep, geese, chickens, a peacock and a donkey. During designated times you can milk the cow or cuddle the guinea pigs- just make sure you let the children go first! There is a farm cafe open every day and the farm runs educational programs for schools and school holiday activities like pony rides. Entry is $5 for a child and $10 for an adult, with concession and family discounts available. Parking is available for a reasonable fee, but can be full at peak times, so consider using public transport. Be sure to attend the Farmer’s Market on the second Saturday morning of every month from 8am-1pm, where you can buy farm fresh produce and entry is free for kids and only $2 for adults- which includes entry to the farm too.
Forget Hosier Lane and Fitzroy, the best street art in Melbourne is set throughout the streets of Collingwood’s industrial area. Enjoy the free parking around Wellington and Easey Streets as you explore the hyperreal artworks of famous street artists like Adnate, Rone and Mayo, to name a few. Around every corner is something new to marvel at and you my even stumble across one of the many local art galleries dotted around the area. This is also the home of Easey’s Burger Bar where you can have a drink and a meal on a train cart which is sitting on the roof of a three-storey building! There are other vast options for food and drink on Smith Street which a quick walk up the road. As you head into the evening, book in to see an eclectic and racy show at The Melba Spiegeltent or head to The Tote to support local bands and local music venues.

Serendip Sanctuary - Free National park Zoo Victoria
We felt like we had the whole park to our self's that day, no one around, only animals. Its is a very nice park, like a open range zoo. Free entry.
We have not captured everything, plenty of animals here.
-------------------------------------
The sanctuary, an excellent example of the open grassy woodlands and wetlands of the volcanic Western Plains, is the perfect place to learn about and experience birdlife and wetlands ecology.
See some of the 150 species of birds which breed at or visit Serendip Sanctuary from the bird hides. Birds can be seen within metres of the viewing areas preening, feeding, incubating eggs and rearing young.
The Wildlife Walk is a popular walk offering close encounters with wildlife. Meander past emus and Eastern Grey Kangaroos grazing to viewing areas, hides and flight aviaries perfect for bird watching. You may be treated to Brolgas trumpeting, Whistling Kites soaring high overhead, magnificent Yellow-billed Spoonbills wading through the shallow water, or even a glimpse of the well hidden Tawny Frogmouth as it watches you pass by.

What I Wrote - David Williamson Trailer
From the 'What I wrote' series:
David Williamson is the great man of Australian theatre. The Club and Dons Party are iconic plays. The film Gallipoli changed our view of Anzac Day. The gentle beauty of Travelling North and the goading Dead White Males shaped the way we view ourselves. His topical plays Brilliant Lies, and Influence to name just a few, hold a mirror to our society and to our concerns.
