Crossing the River Rhine by Cable Car / Seilbahn in Cologne / Köln, Germany - 26th August, 2013
One of the more novel ways to cross the River Rhine in Cologne is to take a cable car ride. This video features highlights from doing just that. The journey begins near Cologne Zoo and heads up over the Rhine, parallel to the Zoo Bridge / Zoobrücke which carries the 55 Autobahn. The actual journey takes around 5 monutes, although this video has been edited down to around half of that. The Cable Car corsses the Rhine and then the Rhine Park / Rheinpark before coming to a halt.
A top tip if you are doing this ride is to look down to the left as you go over the Rhine Park, you go over an outdoor naturist swimming pool! Bare flesh galore (although not in this video) :)

Köln - Höhenrettung an der Seilbahn über dem Rhein
Über 60 Menschen waren heute in der Seilbahn in Köln über dem Rhein in den Kabinen gefangen. Grund war eine Kabine, die sich an einem der Stützpfeiler festgefahren hatte. Die Höhenrettung der Feuerwehr aus Köln und den umliegenden Städten leistete hervorragende Arbeit und brachte alle Leute nach und nach wieder sicher auf den Boden. Niemand wurde verletzt!

More than 60 people were trapped in the cabins above the Rhine on the cable car in Cologne. The reason was a cabin, which had hit one of the supporting pillars. The high angle rescue of the fire brigade from Cologne and the surrounding cities made an excellent job and brought all people back to the ground. Nobody was injured!

Verkeilte Gondel der Seilbahn in Köln - 65 Personen durch Höhenretter gerettet am 30.07.17 + O-Töne
Einsatzfahrten und so auf Facebook:
Insgesamt 65 Personen, davon 20 Kinder und Jugendliche, waren am Nachmittag des 30.07.2017 von einem Sicherheits-Stopp der Kölner Seilbahn betroffen, der alle 32 Gondeln sofort in ihrer Position über dem Ufer und dem
Rhein stoppte, da eine Gondel entgleiste. Kurz nach 20 Uhr konnte die Kölner Feuerwehr melden, dass alle Passagiere unverletzt und wohlbehalten das Ufer wieder erreicht hatten. Über 150 Einsatzkräfte und Höhenretter waren im Einsatz. Die Kräfte der Berufsfeuerwehr Köln wurden von 30
Kräften der Städte Düsseldorf, Dortmund und Aachen und aus dem Oberbergischen Kreis unterstützt, sowie der DLRG, der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr und Spezialisten der RWE. Ohne Verletzungen konnte alle Passagiere gerettet werden, lediglich ein Gondel-Mitfahrer klagte
kurzzeitig über Kreislaufprobleme.
24 Gondeln, die sich aktuell über dem Rheinbefanden, waren nur mit Höhenrettern erreichbar, 8 Gondeln konnten noch mit Drehleitern vom Ufer aus erreicht werden.

Passengers rescued from Cologne cable car after gondola crashes
A rescue operation was underway in the German city of Cologne on Sunday after dozens of people became trapped when the Rhine cable car came to a grinding halt.
Children were among those who had to spend almost five hours suspended fifty metres above the Rhine after one of the ride's gondolas became hooked on a supporting beam and the entire cableway abruptly stopped.
