I had an opportunity this summer to visit Creston BC and visit where I used to work at Columbia Brewery as the brewmaster. Many great memories from living and working in Creston. My drone gave me a new viewing perspective of the brewery. The Blue House is gone, only the Blue Garage is left! This is my first video edit using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Creston Harvest Ale 2018
There's nothing that defines Creston Brewery better than our annual Harvest Ale. This year, we sought to capture what makes this beer so special: the world class ingredients that come directly from the land and water surrounding us in West Michigan.
This year, we have two single-hopped varieties of our 7% abv Harvest Ale 2018: Chinook and Copper. Chinook has an intense citrus aroma paired with a hop-derived sweetness that finishes more like grapefruit juice than beer. Copper takes its pungent tropical punch aroma to flavors of pineapple and mango, before finishing with a light creaminess.
Both are made from 100% locally sourced ingredients - Michigan-grown 2 row barley, white wheat, and oats malted by Emergent Malt of Zeeland, MI; wet hops grown and harvested by West Michigan Hopyards of Greenville, MI; and our wonderful water source, Lake Michigan, providing the soul of our beer.

GOLDEN HOUR WITH THREE CANADIANS!!
While out grabbing some shots before departing for home we saw the rear of a mixed freight sitting on the main. After driving to the head end it turned out to be the BNSF golden swoosh leading 3 CN motors on the daily LINGAL freight. After grabbing photos and lunch in Lincoln, NE I drove back home to Iowa and grabbed this video of it arriving in Creston, IA as it slowly pulls into the yard. 4/25/2016.

The Nelson Brewing Company is a brewery in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, not to be confused with The Nelson Brewing Company in Chatham, Kent, England. The original Nelson Brewing and Ice Company was founded in 1892 by Robert Reisterer. In 1956, the brewery moved to Creston, BC and became the Columbia Brewing Company, leaving the original building unoccupied for nearly 40 years. In 1991, a group of local businessmen reopened the Nelson Brewing Company in its original historical building and by 2006 became BC's largest fully certified organic brewery. While most beer from the Nelson Brewing Company is consumed in the Kootenays, it is available across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
In the summer of 2017, Nelson Brewing Company opened its Tasting Room.
It offers tasting flights and growler fills of the classic line-up, plus limited releases.

Creston is a town of 5,306 people in the Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. The town is located approximately 10 kilometers north of the Porthill, Idaho border crossing into the United States. One hour drive southwest, you will arrive in Cranbrook and then further on to the Fernie area. Due to its proximity to the U.S. border, many businesses in the town accept American currency. Creston is the eastern city of the Salmo-Creston highway constructed in the 1960s as a shortcut to avoid the long route north to Nelson and crossing Kootenay Lake by ferry between Balfour and Kootenay Bay. The Salmo-Creston highway, now Crowsnest Highway, connected with earlier highways eastward of Creston.
The Creston Valley's economy is largely resource-based with agriculture and forestry. Many are employed in the service sector, and tourism is increasingly prominent, while government services and education comprise a large portion of the labour force. Since 1959, Kokanee Beer has been brewed in Creston at the Columbia Brewery. The town is also home to two grain elevators. Many apple, and cherry orchards grow in Erickson, an unincorporated area outside Creston, and the valley is also an important dairy centre. The Creston Area produces the latest cherries grown in the Northern hemisphere and ships their fruit all over the world. A primary market is Europe while Asia is second. A number of growers sell the same product they export to Europe at their road side markets. The Skimmerhorn Winery is now producing award-winning wines, and the valley shows great promise as a wine region, with other growers cultivating vines.
Recreation abounds in the Creston Valley with the Selkirk & Purcell Mountain ranges surrounding the valley. Camping, boating, hiking, skiing, golfing are just a few of the many favourite activities that people enjoy in the area. Because of the natural beauty and pristine waters of Kootenay Lake, people from all over the world flock to the area. Locally, there is a great school system in place along with the amenities such as shopping, convenience stores, coffee shops, business, banking, and other needs people require for everyday living. The area is quiet but active during all the seasons and a wonderful place to call home
