Knaresborough is an historic market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Knaresborough is located on the River Nidd, 4 miles east from the centre of Harrogate.
Knaresborough House on the High Street houses Knaresborough Town Council and the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs. Knaresborough hosts the annual Bed Race, organized by the Knaresborough Lions Club. It is held on the second Saturday of June. The event was first staged in 1966.
The railway age began in Knaresborough in 1848 with the opening of a railway station on Hay Park Lane; this was replaced with the current one three years later in 1851. The town had a railway line to Boroughbridge until it closed to passengers in 1950; it was dismantled in 1964. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, Knaresborough became part of North Yorkshire in 1974.
Sights in the town include the remains of Knaresborough Castle, Mother Shipton's Cave, the House in the Rock, the railway viaduct over the river Nidd, and St Robert's Cave (dating from the Middle Ages). Knaresborough is the site of Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England, opened in 1720, and the Courthouse Museum in the castle grounds. The principal areas of public open space are the Knaresborough Castle grounds, Horseshoe Field, the King George V Playing Field and Jacob Smith Park, a 30 acres (12 ha) parkland on the edge of the town, bequeathed to Knaresborough by Miss Winifred Jacob Smith in 2003.
Conyngham Hall is situated close to the town centre. It is currently used to accommodate businesses and as parkland. Until the 1980s there was a small zoo in the grounds. Near to the castle are Bebra Gardens, formerly the Moat Gardens, renamed after Knaresborough's twin town in Germany. The Commercial (formerly Borough Bailiff) public house, owned by the Samuel Smith Brewery, is the oldest pub in Knaresborough.
Knaresborough is served by Knaresborough railway station, on the Harrogate Line between Leeds and York. The town is four miles from junction 47 of the A1 (M) Motorway (Great North Road), and on the A59 which links York and Wallasey. It is further served by Transdev and Connexions who both run buses in the area that centre around Knaresborough bus station on the High Street. The closest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport with bus links from neighbouring Harrogate.
Knaresborough is mostly a commuter town however it serves as a local centre for the surrounding rural villages. The town has a small tourism industry and service sector. There is a small industrial estate on Manse Lane in the East of the town. Knaresborough has its own local weekly newspaper; the Knaresborough Post, although it borrows content heavily from neighbouring publications.

Places to see in ( Stockbridge - UK )
Stockbridge is a small town, civil parish and conservation area in west Hampshire, England, 65 miles from London. It has an area of 1,323 acres and a population of little under 600 people according to the 2001 census. It sits astride the Test and at the foot of Stockbridge Down. It is in the Test Valley borough which shares local government with Hampshire County Council.
The A30 road goes through the town, which once carried most of the traffic from London to Dorset, south Somerset, Devon and Cornwall in the South West. However, engineering of the A303 dual carriageway today provides a flatter, unimpeded route in the north by Andover used for travel between the regions mentioned, just as the M4 replaced the A4. The bridge over the Test led to the town's name,[3] allegedly as a coach stop where provisions (stock) could be taken aboard, in fact because an earlier bridge was made of stocks, that is to say tree trunks. Salisbury is 15 miles (24 km) by road; Winchester is 8.3 miles (13.4 km) by the B3049 road that joins the A30 by the town. This historic town is en route from the medieval cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury.
The town's street crosses the River Test, marking the border of the parishes of Stockbridge and Longstock by a low bridge of three arches rebuilt and widened in 1799. Five smaller river channels flow through the town. For a brief time, to provide space for fish, these were split into eight artificial ditches just above the town. The town is on a shared pedestrian/footpath, the Test Way.
The place-name 'Stockbridge' is first attested in Charter Rolls of 1239, where it appears as Stocbrigge. In Inquisitiones post mortem of 1258 it appears as Stokbregg. The name means 'stock bridge', referring to a bridge constructed from stocks (meaning 'tree trunks'). Stockbridge was the scene of the capture of Robert of Gloucester by William of Ypres in 1141. Edward I stayed in Stockbridge in August 1294, as did the last Catholic King, James II, on his way to Salisbury to meet the forces of the Prince of Orange. He dined at the Swan Inn in November 1688, which still exists.

A Look Around Ocean Retail Park in Portsmouth, UK.
Come to have a last look in The Homebase DIY superstore, before it closes down for good, on the 21st of December.
We used to have 3 in the Portsmouth area, this is the last one to close down.
There's not much stock left, most of it has been reduced to half price or less. Their prices never were particularly cheap but these major store closedowns are mainly a result of many people now shopping online.

Bentley's in Harrogate - NEW Flying Spur, GT Speed x2 and More!
You may know that from my last trip to Harrogate, I made an Aston Martin Compilation, and this time I thought I'd make one for another quintessentially British company, Bentley. Few carspotting trips go without a Bentley, and Harrogate is no exception. The first car of which we saw was the brand new Flying Spur, which parked in the city centre of Harrogate, while we were further down looking at a Maserati GranTurismo S. This is one of the first Flying Spurs to be seen in England, and to see one out of London is always an achievement, but Harrogate does have plenty of surprises. I have to admit I don't like the styling of the new Flying Spur, the headlights look weird, as do the taillights, and on this paticular car the wheels were not the best, but as with all Bentley's it had a beautiful interior, this one even had TV's in the rear, which is awesome. The next car we spotted was a new shape Continental GT, a coupe model, in my opinion much more desirable. On further inspection it turned out to be a Speed model, our third one to spot in Harrogate. You can tell a Speed from the W12 badge on the side, as these are powered by a W12 engine with as near as makes no difference 600bhp, which is plenty, even for a weighty 2+ tonne bruiser. After that, we saw a beautiful Silver Flying Spur, which was being used as a wedding car, and was parked for ages. After that yet another Flying Spur, which drove by on Ripon Road, not as nice an example but still nice nonetheless. The next Bentley was quite an eyecatcher, an old shape GT Speed, quite a rare car as it is, finished in a lovely shade of Red, like a Deep Red Metallic/Maroon. This car was parked outside the Majestic Hotel, fitting name given the circumstances. It really did look great in this spec, as the majority of Bentley's are Black, Grey, Silver or White, or any other contemporary colours. There were a lot of police around the hotel for some reason, so I didn't do a walkaround of the car, I would have, but my friends were wanting to leave, but it was a nice car to spot. After that, we saw another 2 Continenal GT's, one of which is a regular around Harrogate. Other cars you may notice in this video include; Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet, Ford Focus RS and a Mercedes C63AMG. Anyway, hope you enjoy this video, normal service will be resumed again tommorow. Thanks for watching.
