Suite Sounds: Welcome to Us – Allison Crowe + Band W2U2
Suite: I Might / Back to Black / Shifts of Light / Tones in Transition / I Am the Air / Lisa's Song
Kiss the joy as it flies with the release this month of two new albums of music in concert – “Welcome to Us” Acts 1 and 2 – from Allison Crowe and Band (on Rubenesque Records Ltd.).
Here, now, is a suite of songs opening W2U2. Film montage à “Ménilmontant” – a cinematic masterpiece from France, 1926:
“I Might” features Céline Sawchuk on vocals. Allison Crowe sings lead on the suite’s next four vocal tunes: “Back to Black”, “Shifts of Light”, “I Am the Air” and “Lisa’s Song”. Creating the albums’ 22+ song tracks be: Allison (vocals, piano, guitar, fiddle, bodhran), Céline (cello, vocals), Sarah White (mandolin, guitar, vocals), Dave Baird (bass, vocals) & Keelan Purchase (accordion, 12-string guitar, bodhran, harmonica, vocals) – banded together on the lovely isle of Newfoundland for sessions and shows.
For a flock of creators who live, literally, all over the map it’s a rare chance to slow the world a bit. “We had time to experiment, and think more about the larger picture musically,” says bassist & birder Dave. “It’s only the beginning. It’s just the first we’ve had opportunity to work the music out without much time restraint. It was fun, relaxed, and productive.”
Melding into one sound and performance experience the rawest of folk roots and the richest of arena rock – that barely begins to describe the originality and freshness of the quintet’s music and personality.
Debuting at Corner Brook, NL’s Rotary Arts Centre, RAC Theatre Co-ordinator Brad Randell observes, “The performance was absolutely magical.”
Rolling across the rock, captured fresh at the LSPU (Longshoremen's Protective Union) Hall in St. John's, NL, Canada – it’s music that’s food for the soul and fun for all.
Fortune’s present audio-wise, and Allison’s SD (memory) card is filled with tracks to be mined and enjoyed. Sláinte!
Welcome to Us 1, the concert’s first act, presents the brilliant bi-coastal band's more guitar-and-fiddle-centric tunes – live:
Welcome to Us 2, the concert's second act, features the group's more piano-centric tunes – and encore – live:
Welcome to Us Banter Bits includes any chat, laughter, applause not found on the Welcome to Us albums on iTunes et al. A free download to complement the concert music:
All available worldwide starting April 2018.

Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding

SUMMARY
=======
Operation Torch (8–16 November 1942, formerly Operation Gymnast) was an Anglo–American invasion of French North Africa, during the North African Campaign of the Second World War. Torch was the debut of the mass involvement of US troops in the European–North African Theatre.
The Soviet Union had long pressed the US and British to start operations in Europe and open a second front, to reduce the pressure of German forces on the Red Army. While US commanders favored Operation Sledgehammer, a landing in Occupied Europe as soon as possible, British commanders believed that it was premature and likely to end in disaster and proposed landings in French North Africa. On 28 July, the Axis Afrika Korps, under General Erwin Rommel, captured Mersa Matruh, in Egypt, only 140 miles (230 km) from Alexandria.
Landings in north-west Africa would reduce pressure on Allied forces in Egypt, secure Allied naval control of the south-west Mediterranean and enable an invasion of Southern Europe in 1943. The U.S. President, Roosevelt, suspected that such landings would rule out an invasion of western Europe in 1943 but agreed to support the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Senior US commanders remained strongly opposed to the landings and after the western Allied Combined Chiefs of Staff (CCS) met in Washington on 30 July, General George Marshall and Admiral Ernest King declined to approve the plan. Roosevelt gave a direct order that Torch was to have precedence over other operations and was to take place at the earliest possible date, one of only two direct orders he gave to military commanders during the war.
Hope in the Darkness

The walk is starting April 1st from St Johns NFLD..Cape Spear my mistake in video.. and makes its way to Winnipeg Manitoba. Youth and other police officers are coming together to help the youth in our nation. Many are being lost to suicide and we need to start listening to them all. Good Old Sussex by the sea
In response to critism to my fellow Brighton fan 1066Seagull over his video of the song and the lyrics which is here on youtube,I have taken it upon myself to remake it and have improved the following requests:
a)The music is now the music played when Brighton enter the field before a game
b)it is now For Sussex by the sea not Oh Sussex by the sea
c)It is now And we'll win the cup not To win the cup
With thanks to the Sussex barmy army for the pictures at the end of Sid the Shark and his triumph
